I am an Irishman

Day 1,865, 19:52 Published in Ireland Ireland by Brian Boru

I suppose, given the circumstances, I should start with the basics.

I am an Irishman.

I owe my existence in this game, and my citizenship of eIreland, to that green island off the coast of Europe. That land of troubled times, complex questions and unassuming people. Its struggles have informed my own ideas about this game, and eIreland is not as far from RL Ireland as some would like us to think.

I have seen our country torn to pieces.

Twice, eIreland has torn itself apart for months on end, as grevious political differences and personal vendettas have shook the country's foundations and society. Two civil wars, first over whether or not Ireland should reclaim her honour and war with the British, second whether the equality of Irishmen could make the country strong.

Twice, I have triumphed.

It was I who started the eIrish Republican movement, that saw our country move away from the stranglehold of bored neutrality and towards war with Britain that re-energised eIrish life. It was I who started the movement for communes, to fight for an Ireland of equality and one where citizens would not have to fear invasion.

In the course of bringing these to pass, I have occupied practically every government position it is possible to hold multiple times, in versions of the game far more complex than the version we currently have.

However, the most important thing is, I did not do these things alone!

Every step of the way, I had a collection of characters to help me, to lead me, as well as to oppose me. A movement is never one person, but a collection of individuals united in the purpose of bringing about a better future. I have been greatly honoured to fight alongside so many of my fellow citizens in the four years I have played this game.

I come to the Irish citizens yet again, and ask for their assistance.

I ask that you consider me, Brian Boru, as your choice for an Uachtarán na hÉireann, the President of Ireland.

In the coming days, I will explain my values, my policies, and announce my cabinet. I ask that you consider them carefully.

Brian Boru,
Ex-Minister for Foreign Affairs/Chief Advisor on Foreign Affairs
Ex-Minister for Finance
Ex-Chief of Staff of the Irish Volunteer Force
Ex-Chairperson of the Internationale
Founder & Ex-Party President of the Labour Party (Not the ILP, the original)
