Hungary Under Fire as USA Removed from Southeast Asia, Days 1091-1092

Day 1,091, 16:43 Published in USA USA by Lieutenant Scheisskopf

While the eUSA notched initial gains in eIndonesia, Day 1091-1092 brought a series of setbacks for the attacker which called into question its initial invasion. Meanwhile in Europe, Phoenix’s former superpower eHungary found itself on the ropes once again, as eRomania and eCroatia continued to have its way in a combined offensive. Additional maneuvers by ePoland suggest that it will wait to move against eGermany and attempt to fulfill its monthly objectives closer to Presidential election day in order to give them a higher likelihood of being met successfully when it counts.

Poland Continues Offensive in Germany
ePoland attacked eUK-occupied Lower Saxony and Bremen (LS😎 on Day 1089 at 21:43 and easily conquered it. The offensive continued against eGermany with an overwhelming strike on North Rhine-Westphalia on Day 1090 at 13:38, easily conquering the region. The action shows that ePoland is taking its time on the German front, but the move north is noteworthy. Doing so is a delay from moving against eFrance’s Rhone Alps, but may indicate that ePoland instead intends to wipe eGermany from the map; the move is not wholly surprising, since ePoland does list the conquest of eGermany’s capital region as a monthly objective. The delay in meeting these objectives may be an act by ePoland to prevent Phoenix from attempting to win back the regions, denying the ability to attempt multiple resistance wars (RW) on occupied lands ahead of Congressional and Presidential elections-- the latter, of course, being when countries should seek to have all their goals filled.

With ePoland (pink) on its doorstep, the eNetherlands was conquered by the eUK to erase the tiny country’s active wars which could have prompted an ePolish invasion

UK Conquers the Netherlands, Returns Regions
The eUK finished taking the eNetherlands as it attacked Western Netherlands and Northern Netherlands in the 13:00 hour of Day 1091, presumably to try and protect the small country from any ePolish attacks after ePoland conquered LSB. In doing so, the eDutch nation was temporarily removed from the map. However, the resistance war (RW) started on Day 1091 in Western Netherlands enables the eNetherlands to return to the map without active wars targeting the eDutch, as was declared by the eDutch Army Central Command earlier that day. Additional RW’s are underway in Day 1092 and will help the eDutch regain their country now that their former active wars have been erased with the initial eUK swaps.

eHungary’s final regions have been targeted while
EDEN members are engaged against eSerbia, as well

Final Hungarian Regions Under Attack
Following eCroatia’s three unsuccessful attacks, including one against the eHungarian capital, allied eRomania launched its own assault of Central Hungary at 07:15 on Day 1090, winning each of the first four phases of battle. The eHungarian capital fell just before server reset Day 1091 and was followed with an attack on Central Transdanubia at 23:37, which fell just 16 hours later and was followed with a Day 1092 attack on Western Transanubia. As a result, eHungary’s final native region has come under fire, while its loaned Austrian region of Burgenland is under a RW threat and in danger of collapsing. To add insult to injury, the EDEN power also easily defended two RWs for eHungarian regions as well as a RW for the capital, while eCroatia beat back an RW for Southern Great Plain in the process.

Additional EDEN attacks by eCroatia and eRomania have put eSerbia in the crosshairs. However, the defending power in all three battles started in these campaigns is currently having the most success. eCroatia first struck eSerbia’s main region of Vojvodina just before 08:00 on Day 1092, while eSerbia countered by attacking the eCroat-occupied Southern Great Plain at 09:48; in both cases, the defender has won each phase of battle. An eRomanian attack against Eastern Serbia is also being blocked in its early going. What this shows is that all attacks on this front are likely diversions started by both EDEN and Phoenix to draw focus of the opponent away from eHungarian battles, though any radical changes in the attackers’ favor would be noteworthy and could signal larger campaigns.

eIndonesia regained control of its country and has removed the eUSA from its doorstep

USA Removed from Southeast Asia
eIndonesia regained Sumatra via RW without much of a fight from the recently victorious eUSA. Additional triumphs by the resistance in Southern Thailand and Tamil Nadu have rolled back the eUSA’s presence on eIndonesia’s doorstep and in Southeast Asia. The eUSA does still hold Kerala in Southern India, so it could still move towards SE Asia in reasonable time, however. Although the initial eUSA success in Sumatra was a “feel-good story,” it seems to have served little other purpose, as the propaganda about Sumatra is all that remains of the eUSA’s victory. The recent developments also lend to speculation that there may be back-room disagreements among EDEN and other allies on current objectives, and whether it is feasible to attack eIndonesia while other EDEN members attack eHungary. Time will tell if there is another, more sustained, campaign in SE Asia in the future.

The Way Ahead
Although the eUK helped protect the eDutch, the immediate future of eHungary is in question and cannot be guaranteed. Conquest of eHungary by EDEN would be a major symbolic victory, even if the Phoenix member is not the same power that once dominated the New World. However, Phoenix can also enjoy that it has pushed the eUSA away from eIndonesia for the time being, keeping additional eIndonesian regions untouched by any foreign forces. Progress in these two fronts will drive EDEN and Phoenix maneuvering for the next few days, as Phoenix is forced to defend from a severe EDEN onslaught.
