Behind the Scenes
Over the past few days, it seems like I haven’t left my computer for more than a few minutes at a time. You probably thinks thats crazy, and exaggerated, and you’d be right on both counts. I have spent so much time recently on this project because I have a dream!

Do you remember your first days on erepublik? Unless you were one of the lucky few who happened to be referred by a close friend, or who was messaged immediately by a generous player, it is likely you had to spend a lot of time learning the nuances of the game before you were able to enjoy it. Thousands of us don’t even get that far. The first key to winning the game is to have an efficient method to increase new citizen’s retention levels.

The answer is quite simple actually. Not surprisingly, it also takes an incredible amount of work. One of the primary goals of SHIELD will be to send a personal private message to each and every new citizen born in Brolliance countries. As I write this, SHIELD members are also working on creating and compiling articles for an erepublik library which will consist of the best New Citizen Guides to be found, as well as erepublik tools, etc...

Once you’ve managed to get New Citizens to play on past the first few days, you need to keep them interested. The second key to winning the game is to provide citizens a purpose
This is not something I can do alone. It is not something that SHIELD will be able to do alone. This is a goal that requires the participation of all the Brolliance citizens who care about our community. Aside from releasing frequent articles, and implementing several Brolliance-wide projects through SHIELD, the best way to accomplish this goal is to participate on the Brolliance forums.

So that is how you win the game. You need to prepare your troops for battle, and provide them something to believe in.

Now I’m sure some of you are going to come crying “ What about war?

My answer: what about it?

War is the engine of this game, because it serves both the aforementioned purposes. It does so in an easy way, you just have to click more and brag about your damage.

War is not the answer to everything though. It certainly helps, and is the “game mechanics” way of getting citizens active. The Admins’ announcement to make new citizens start at 100 wellness and allow them to fight earlier will help as well. When it comes down to it though, you need to go above and beyond what the game allows in order to make it interesting and to succeed. You need to outwork, outthink, and out strategize your opponent. SHIELD is created on exactly those beliefs.

How You can help make the Brolliance win

There are a few simple steps that will go incredible lengths to get this project off the ground. It will take a lot of work and dedication from a lot of citizens. But as long as we believe it can be done, I know that we can get it done. Let no one say that this is in an impossible task, it is our willpower that makes us strong.

1) Join the Brolliance Forums

2) Join #brolliance and #shield on IRC (rizon server, like everything else)

3) Vote, subscribe, and shout all [brolliance] tagged articles

4) Donate to SHIELD HQ to help this project get off the ground. Even a single gold goes a long way if enough people contribute.

5) Send a message to SHIELD HQ with your support!
