How Protectionism hurts Canadians

Canada has the highest currency in the world, We can buy goods from other nations at staggeringly low prices if import taxes were dramatically dropped. These low prices would be passed on to the consumer so our people would be able to buy better quality food and weapons. Wars would be fought just that much easier.
Winston Churchill once said give me German generals, American equipment and Canadian soldiers I can conquer the world. We have the soldiers now give us the equipment and our generals will be born on the battlefield.
We could march to London,Paris and Moscow on the backs of our extreme buying power and great gold reserves. Our nation is great, but why should great be enough?

And what about the companies that pay the Canadian people? You would have them destroyed? Who then will pay Canadians?
Did you check the job market while you were looking over the fence? How much would you lose in pay to enjoy those cheap prices?
Real world logic regarding import tariffs don't apply in this game. Actually, you would only pour money OUT of the Canadian economy, which like all others is already losing tons thanks to Lana and her band of tarts. Lowering import tariffs would only ensure that Canadian companies can't compete and would go out of business. Once that happens, supply would drop and prices would go back up to equilibrium levels. Then what?
We would have few jobs. No Canadian companies buying Canadian raw materials. With the high supply of labor and low supply of jobs, salaries would go lower than they are now, if that is even possible. Then the standard of living would simply be comparable to before (if you are lucky enough to have a job.)
Then, people will start migrating from Canada and our population and military strength also suffer. Wake up. The reason we have high salaries (in comparison to the rest of the world), a high standard of living, and people from foreign countries are coming here in droves right now; is exactly because we have high import tariffs. They create jobs right here and keep money flowing in eCanada. Don't try to fix what isn't broken.

BTW, eCanada has very little buying power relative to the entire eRep community, that is another reason for the closed market.
