HOPEing for a Better eBelgium
Konrad Neumann
The overall conflict between the community and the HOPE/ PANDA is over the issue of immigration. This single issue is driving the country apart. It is indeed a shame that there is so much dysfunction over this issue and I think it is indeed troubling. I have read the recent articles from the current HOPE party president Kiyonori Dragnier and I am relieved that many wants their reputation to improve. I think this is a good sign and I hope the party will pursue this path and do not allow the hardliners to hijack any peace process or process to improve your reputation.
eBE is a country of norms, laws and tradition. This is not much different from other countries. The law was voted by the congress and the purpose is to serve the community. eBE is a very democratic country in which all can debate and take an active role in politics. I think it is a lot more progressive than many other countries in this regards. In many other countries, the normal citizen cannot write in the congress chambers itself.
I think HOPE hardliners are being unfair and unrealistic.

I have a problem with this statement. First, it is very democratic. There is nothing hindering you from joining the eBE forums. All is welcome and many of you already have an account. You choose to boycott it. If you want to talk about democracy, the peoples of eBE rejected the idea of open borders. This is not only in the forum but via a ingame referendum in lin0leum's very own newspaper. So if you want to talk about democracy, you need to respect the will of the people. You can try to make new argumentation but what the hardliners in HOPE is doing is just ignoring the will of the people since they do not like the result. That is not democratic. You demanded direct democracy and then ignores it when it does not conform to your vision and ideals.
Lin0leum made a second point about ingame rights. eRepublik is a very limiting game. The game itself is bland and the main reason why most people play this game is for the community. If the game is solely in the game itself, why do HOPE have an outside forum? Why did they have IRC channels like #redbro (IDK does it still exist)? Why do HOPE run on Operator Rota? Why did you want direct democracy in the first place? Surely all of the above is not game rules but something outside the scope of the game. Ingame rules alone is not a good enough reason. You are an eBelgian citizen and there are responsibility, rules, and traditions that goes with it. Being eBelgian is not just a little badge next to your avatar but it is so much more. It is an identity of shared values, shared interest, shared traditions, comradeship, and shared struggles. We are a people, a brother/sisterhood. We have a bond that means so much more than ingame rules.

Be honest, you want to decide who will come in Belgium or not! Every CS approved by HOPE congress you declare like PTO! There is no debate about it with you! But when you want to approve CS to someone from Macedonia, UK or Romania that is justified."
There is a fundamental lack of trust. One the one hand, hardliners in HOPE states they are for direct democracy and then break their words, how can we trust them? HOPE in the past has a history of letting in PTOers like G50, Libertad and others. This troubled history is the cause of distrust. So the combination of ignoring the will of the people as well as the troubles of past CS request, many have little to no trust in HOPE.
However, I do think that is changing. Having people like Yannis (Chihiroh) and Kiyonori Dragnier in HOPE shows that people are starting to have some trust in HOPE. They are optimistic people who do see some good in the party. Them being in it gives HOPE a lot more legitimacy and trust to HOPE. Trust takes time and it does not come overnight. It will take time for many on my side to trust you and I am sure it will take a lot of time for me to earn your trust. But I think it will take time and while there is still a lack of trust now, it is not a hopeless endeavor. With time if we work together in the forums (I think the only realistic place to really debate and discuss issues in a comprehensive way) I am sure we can work and resolve our differences and to have trust with each other.

Why I write article and What I need , first I would like to have a BIG THANKS others citizents who vote me in PP electrions and who says a big cultur , no primistivism and others.
Croatian people in eBelgium need help , need people who will help him in every Belgium day , people who will donate money for food because we will donate items a young players.
If you interesed for this please PM me , donate money , gold or come on to eBelgium and aplicate(first PM )
This is not article some for Finish people , this is article for every people in Belgium."
All I can say is the article is very hypercritical. You state the Belgian people are racist while you acknowledge that it is a very international country with many different nationalities like the USA, Macedonia etc. One must question why do they target the Croats? I find it ironic that he called the people of Belgium as primitive. Isn't that a racist connotation?
I will not use the word primitive but I will use the term crude and unprogressive and I think that is a good way to describe ChristijanXD. The only person of hate is ChristijanXD as he in the past treated MaryamQ with disrespect and made many sexist comments. These hardliners do no justice to the HOPE party.
In Closing
I would love it for there to be trust and a more unified eBelgium. I think HOPE really have a chance to do good for the country. I am happy that many in the party has express their desire to improve their reputation. I really welcome this direction. I hope you will go with it. I know there are hardship and anger on both sides. I believe if you ignore the hardliners and come to the middle, we can get a lot of things done. Boycotting the forums or shouting direct democracy does not help things. I invite HOPE to a dialogue to address our differences. I think the eBE forum is the best places to do it but if you want to do it via ingame articles in the beginning, No more rhetoric and baseless accusations. Lets come to the middle and address this issue. I am sure if we start communicating in a constructive way, we can resolve our differences and our community will be stronger. Let's all come to the middle together.

Let's try to find a middle ground!
Good article, I agree with everything said here... But with KD as PP there is still HOPE.
eBelgium is a small community! Every party looking for new members not in our community, but in new members from other country and this is nothing dispute.
If you see on approved eBelgium CS you can see that is many of player which have approved by HOPE gone along time from eBelgium! It is same for other approved CS by other party in eBelgium, therefor other 3-4 party in Belgium also are recruiting new members who are not from Belgium in RL and HOPE also can accuse them for PTO. Just because you have majority in congress you can legally approve CS for your new party members and stop other CS that do not fit for you!
You can not STOPed giving CS to other people, just because they maybe will go to HOPE!
I want to say that every congress members can give their CS for player who they want to give,
but after immigration debate forum debate about him, and if is not any evidence that player have a bad history of PTO or something else like SCAMMer, congress member can give him CS!
And this can not be a problem in future because every congress member have a possibility of giving only one CS. And also many people after they get eBelgium CS go further and leave eBelgium!
I hope you understand me! Sorry for my english!
And this is where you are wrong. You choose to be eBelgian and we have laws. If you do not like the law, it does not mean you can break it. If you do not follow the law, it means you are in violation. I do not see any problem calling you a PTOer if you do not follow the rules and laws of the land. You have a few choices. If you do not like the law, you can try to change it democratically. You can also just accept the law and follow it. Last, you can leave eBE.
This is not about people joining HOPE. It matters now which party but about trust. You do not like this system and it will take time for us to trust you. If you do not follow the rules or approach us in a middle ground via a form of a compromise, then there is no hope for common understanding. In the end, you are in eBE which has laws. If you go to other countries in the game, you have to follow their laws as well. If you do not, people will not trust you. People will call you a PTOer when you break immigration laws. Not following the law only shows the total lack of respect to the community.
To be honest, not all congressman on both sides gets everything they want. This is what it means to be in a democratic society. It is a compromise. Not all HOPE candidates for CS was reject.
I think there is misunderatnding on both sides with this problem. It is not because a candidate might go to HOPE that he would be rejected. In fact, any new citizen might go to HOPE or any other party. The problem is when certain people apply for citizenship who are known to have attempted PTO or otherwise have a bad reputation from another country, and one party automatically lets them in without even waiting for a debate to be opened. In fact, our present immigration officer is a member of HOPE, and she is quite liberal in giving approvals, many times where I would not, being older and more cautious, but her decision is accepted.
I would like to think there is a middle ground. I have seen attempt by you personally to engage in a reasonable debate and to try to solve problems you see in eBelgium. I would like to invite you to come back to the forum, or to some other meeting ground of your choosing, and see if we can find some reasonable compromises to our common problems.
As for your English, you have my total respect for doing as well as you do with it. It is much better than I could do in any other language.
Ok! Thanks for answer! I will try, in next day when i find more time for debate, put some proposal law in Belgium forum about immigration, and then we will see in which way will debate go. 🙂
This is the spirit man!
as always: TL😉R
PS: with you being back in eBE, I think I might become active again.
oh yeey \o/ Come visit us on the forum !! 😃 oh wait .... nvm
Wow, dat kitty accually haz teeth 😃
lol +1000000000000
yo, Im already on the forum with another account but you're too dumb to see it.
But please, do continue you thug-like attitude and provide me with humour
Although I'm using the forum, I understand where the point of view of some HOPERS comes from and I respect it. In my opinion the causes of such a community break lies exactly where you pointed them: game mechanics and trust. But not completely in the same way you interpret it.
I won't lie, HOPE is mainly consisting of players that are barely more active than 2-clickers. We use no private forum or IRC channel at present. In fact, I suspect that they were used not for daily management of HOPE but for the organization needed to achieve the somber plans of some of our (past/present) members...
Thing is that for those not-so-active HOPERS that form our backbone spend their little time on eRepublik.com, the pressure of that far-away forum is quite overwhelming. It claims it has rules you must respect and obey to the orders of some people they barely know. Moreover, game mechanics don't support that external forum to be the center of governance in any way. It claims to be the decisional epicentre without being able to enforce this in the practice, making it look even more illegitimate. The rule of being told who to accept and who not while they clearly see that "Give CS"-button is clearly the perfect example and main concern.
I'm trying to act as a bridge between party and forum for the practical matters, but I feel you will have to put the decisional aspect closer to the real ingame website. After all, votes are only truly representative in a democracy when all parties have participated.
And then there's that trust problem. I believe that I have done a lot already to solve the issue in Immigration. I put conditions in order to try eliminating preferential politics.I have also tried to put Immigration closer to HOPE by Mass PM but that didn't work out as I hoped it would. The best you can do for the moment is realizing that HOPERS don't mainly aim to PTO the country. There are still heavy prejudices (eg when the applicant is Serbian/Croatian/TWO/friend of a HOPER, ...)
The forum issue is indeed really big. Tbh I'm not really fan of it. I used it because I had to but nothing more.
Still I believe that mass-mp, walls and articles should be enough to handle parties in eBelgium. You can enhance them with external tools like forums or mirc or skype (would be the best way I think; because you can put everyone in the same conversation and it's way easier than mirc).
The thing is, the external forum is a good tool for some tips and so on. But it's way too complicate😛 too many sections, too many laws. And it tries to impose impossible things to users.
Still I believe (i like this formulae) it is needed for CM to discuss on laws and so on. Of course.
So it has good and bad points ... Maybe, and it's my belief, it's too complicated, complex, with too many sections (try to analyze laws, it's ... Well, it is something).
But I've always agreed on that point.
Last but not least, not about the forum but the 2clicking mode: you can't expect responsabilities or impact without the needed implication.
I do want to point out that most other eCountries do have policies to control immigration, many stricter than ours. See, for instance, this recent official article from eNL. http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/immigrations-2333160/1/20 Most of these policies do use some form of communication outside the game to carry out these policies, as well.
Well the problem is not about having rules I guess, it is about HOPE not agreeing with the current regulation. Some just won't accept any power coming from an outside forum, even if it is a comfortable and pleasant alternative. To get HOPE in cooperation the decisional structure must be accessible from this website. Once that's done you can start discussions where the whole Congress gets to express him/herself and therefor make the most democratic decisions possible in the representative democracy structure that the game mechanics exhort.
Oh, and two little notes
1) ChristijanXD is officially rejected from HOPE for lies and threats, he is now trying to do his thing in PANDA. (GL Cika, I pity you bro)
2) Players (HOPERS) that spend less time in the game don't have lesser expectations concerning country management. They want a system that is adapted to them.
I believe a huge improvement has been made with the citizen pack being asked out of the forum. The next step would be harminazing this forum.
We need it, it's a fact. As it's a fact the forum is oldschool, badly done, and so on.
"But when you want to approve CS to someone from Macedonia, UK or Romania that is justified." - Marko Klis
Marko, can you please defend your statement with arguments instead of just telling lies to those that are uninformed? Thanks in advance!
What lies I said? You have majority in congress and you decide who is suitable for Belgium and who is not! Every party in Belgium is looking for some new members out of eBelgium, when some of their old members go in other ecountry! This is facts!
You can always legalize CS for your need, and stop other CS who is not in your interest. You are doing that all time.
So, as I understood, you are implying that "WE" (although there aren't "WE") are not reviewing the CS applications, but giving CSs to all Macedonians, British or Romanians? If that's correct, I assure you that you are wrong. Maybe it's ignorance, maybe you're trying to manipulate with the people, but I can prove to others that you are lying. You cannot do the opposite!
Maybe the MoI should advertise much his restrictions and so on.
Yeah, put the blame on the MoI, pfffff 😛 More seriously though, I tried, I put my conditions in the mass PM and still some people didn't follow my advices.
I don't blame. I'm aware of guidelines. Still I can't see any article about it so people out of the forum can't say for sure. And a message in an unwanted mass-mp can be missed easily.
I remember the time we had a mass mp with over 1000 messages in it ... I missed a lot tbh 😛.
That's why eRepublik.com is not the most adequate place to debate, sadly... The friction between forum and HOPE would be loosened if admins made some decent changes.
Still an article would be helpfull 😁.
But it's all the gov information system which needs a rework. And I know it's really hard, I've tried, I've failed.
