HOCKEY!! THE OFFICIAL RESULTS

Day 2,289, 02:38 Published in Serbia Serbia by Sally Willis

It's game on. Canada's men face the Swedes in the gold medal match and as I write the score is 1-0 in Canada's favor in the first period. Who will win? Which eRep players will win the prizes in this HOCKEY competition?

As far as I can see the field is wide open. No competition entry anticipated the medal impact of the Swiss team; and that might be crucial. One factor that might be crucial is the fact that a few people placed the Swedes in 4th place for both the men and the women and those forecasts have earned them valuable points. But will that be enough.

I'll take 24 hours to check and re-check the results before I announce them. Anyone who thinks they have won a prize can (and should) comment below to stake their claim. But I will wait until I am sober and blood alcohol zero before I make my final check of the results.

The Sochi Hockey competition is over and real Canada did us proud with TWO gold medals. But how many of the entrants foresaw the Swiss bronze medal in the women's competition? Well. None actually.

Yesterday I published the competition results based on an error in my scoring matrix. For some reason I'd given the men's bronze medal to USA. My only excuse is that I missed that game so the error did not stand out. doh!

I have re-tallied the results against the entrants' submissions and it was still damned close! So close that tie-breaking was called for. After much deliberation I was able to declare the "goals scored" tie-breaker valid because, although the rules did not make clear whether the number was for the total number of goals scored by both the men's and women's teams, or if a total for just one of the teams was called for, the actual numbers made no difference to the choice of second and third place. I only hope that Lance Lucky forgives me for the mistake which dropped him from 2nd to 3rd place. Even more, I am desperately sorry to Jason Welsh who dropped out of the prizes completely.

But enough of all this! You want the results!
