History of Egypt: According to Franz Kafka

Day 1,413, 12:43 Published in Egypt Egypt by Franz Kafka

eEgypt was once the most successful new Arab country in the eworld. We had a thriving and diverse population, we had avoided the PTO traps that UAE fell into, we didn't have the resource endowment that made Saudi's neighbours salivate.

What did we have to thank for this? Well first we had inspirational leadership. Our first president Heboo gave everyone a role in our society and managed a successful ATO effort with the support of our Croat brothers.

Yes, it may be surprising so some newer citizens, but our Croat friends were first here to help, not to dominate.

So what went wrong? So many things... Our neighbourhood never knew stability, with Greek, Turkish, Cypriot and FYR Macedonian attempts to erase each other and to seize those tasty Saudi resources, we were always going to be trampled in the process.

And then there were leaders who, in desperation at our treatment by some neighbours, struck Machiavellian deals with the enemies of our enemies. This brought some success, as former president Varlosh will attest. But it also made us new enemies, not all of which we had intended to make.
Most tragically, it brought us on the wrong side of the alliances of our traditional friends, Croatia.

Now I don't buy the story that we deserved it. We have had to do what we must to survive. But it brought not only retribution, but legitimised our Croat citizens to pursue a policy of exclusive self-interest. Now the next president, the congress, the Party Presidencies of our country are agreed between Croats on IRC - political discourse doesn't get a look in.

So where next? How do we untangle ourselves from this mess? I have three principles which I suggest will take us forwar😛

1) No turning back. There's no use trying to get back to an old position. We need to forge a new successful future together.
2) Understand that there is no good and bad. All our citizens have citizenship and no matter what their reasons for convening as a group, they are legitimate in that role, they have citizenship and we should make no distinction between RL and non-RL Egyptians.
3) Egypt is only as good as its citizens. All citizens must engage with each other with respect and maturity. LNL too should feel a responsibility to behave as responsible citizens. I believe they already understand this, but have not yet found a non-LNL leader with which they feel they can work with. Furthermore - our Croat citizens are strong fighters, skilled politicians, and wealthy business people - they are what makes this country strong. We need to retain that and see it for the advantage it really is.
