HH: TYJ's Presidential Manifesto

Day 1,019, 13:06 Published in Singapore Singapore by lightofsirius

Greetings eSingaporeans, eSingaporean-wannabes, and non-eSingaporeans alike,

It's TYJ with my presidential manifesto! 😃 For those who have not read the opening article of my campaign, you can read it here. I'm running because in this time of erepublik's history, everywhere is a mess. What was changed from V1 has caused chaos.

So I'm here to say that there's absolutely nothing we can do and my manifesto for the entire presidential term is to sit and pray for the admins to change everything to a more workable mechanism. 😃

Nahhh... Of course I'm not going to do that. lol. Although the damage is terrible, we can put in place measures to help us in tiding through in these rainy days.

Economy
It sucks. Yea. No kidding. Our wages is peanuts. And because of no pay to buy better food, our health and happiness is crap. Then companies are paying peanuts cos of the lousy health and happiness. And cos companies are paying peanuts... You get the picture. lol.

Then the gold sinks in erepublik are taking away gold that is much needed in the economy. I understand that we need gold sinks to control inflation in a game. But yea so gold is valuable, and getting more so.

When an engine has nearly stopped, there must be a kickstart to get it back up running. I intend to do the same to our economy by providing subsidy to food. This will make food cheaper and decrease the amount of money food has in our personal financial budgets. This stimulus is useful because it targets locally and the money spent to subsidise food will hardly leak out and will stay within our borders. Also, with cheaper food prices, people will come in to buy our food with now more competitive pricing, thus propping up our currency.

There will be other measures that I'd like to implement as well. We'll see what measures will be useful in the changing landscape during this term. Now that the admins have announced the tweaking of the modules, I suspect there will be further changes that will be advantageous so we should not do anything drastic or we might be caught out when such changes happens.

It is uncertain times, so we will have to be very flexible when it comes to economy.

And it's time to put the taxes into order again. Our congress now is handicapped. So I'll try to implement what I can for the current congress term and implement the rest for the next congress term. Import taxes for raw materials should be as low as possible, import taxes for finished goods should be as high as possible, VATs should be low for now so that we won't create a burden on our citizen's budgets.

Also, where possible, companies should do backward integration so there won't be an outflow of money to raw material producers overseas.

Military
So, we have had a reform in the military. Scrapping the entire military was certainly interesting however necessary. Nevertheless, I will continue with the new military. Increase numbers so that effective deployments can be made, this will be made a priority, via articles, adverts and contacting members of the public if they want to join. Job will of course go to our MinDef (Ministry of Defence).

Foreign Affairs
We will keep close to our allies within ONE, and pf course, those without as well. We should help ONE enlighten new members, and enlarge our alliance. Not creating any enemies are a priority, and having an ambassador scheme in place. Having individuals representing us in other nations is proven effective every time and everywhere.
