I propose a new department be created under the government to control immigration from other country. We need the congressmen to discuss upon the acceptance of the applications one by one, and the department to approve applications if consensus says yes, or ignore if otherwise.

This will help to ensure discipline among the congress, as well as, establish a protocol for acceptance of citizenship applications.

I believe its very hard to grant a person on basis on their word that they were Singaporean before this. We need a defining way to sieve the good from the bad. For the bad will simply say the same things as the good.

This is a global problem that has NO good answer. IF we put up a government oversight that "Evaluates" people thats just going to give another level of government that we dont really need. It might also be a bad idea. Say we form a comittee that tells the congress whos getting in and whos not, then theres no real power in being a member of congress as your getting told what to do and who to approve. Say we set up a committee, whats to prevent people from slipping members some cash or gold and gaining an approvial.

Of course im not saying there will be corruption in our little nation but its something to consider before handing out powers about who gets in and who doesnt.

I'm saying the congress decides.
We are a small nation. A 10 person committee (which is the congress) is better than having each congressman having a free hand in granting 3 citizenship.

The department merely repeats the outcome of the consensus formed by the congress.

Exactly the way we do it with congress proposals in the previous adminisrations.

Why not just use the comittee to investigate suspicious citizens when requested to do so? Maybe some sort of private jury-advisor personel the congress can call on if they aren't sure of granting someone citizenship. That's all optional of course.

The congress will be the one who decides. It's will be exactly the same process as a law proposal.

Hey, new here, but you may also want to consider using some kind of "mentorship" program as well. Have people you know you can trust from the nation meet with some of the applicants and get to know their history etc.

Getting to know a person's personality and ehistory could help in determining who may be a negative presence. Then, have both the person applying and the mentor make a quick report/synopsis/intro to congress for a vote.

This will give each member of congress a say, and allow you to sort through the proposals more indepth, and without putting too much more of a workload onto the high-levels of government itself.
