Hello again, eBe

Hello eBelgium,

Three years ago next month, on 17 April 2010, I was accepted as an eBelgian citizen by Mike Wooldridge, who was unknown to me at the time but later became a friend and an ally. Little did I know that he would change my eLife by that act. I was on a mission, had little real knowledge of why I was there, but I joined Res Belgica as instructed and met some amazing young players, many of whom are unfortunately eDead now, but who showed me what fun it could be to be part of an idealistic community in the game. By June, when many of them were away on holidays, I had resigned from Strategic Air Command, was running for Congress and immediately became embroiled in the controversy over the sale of the CP medal. In that process, I became acquainted with a lot of people who would influence the rest of my life in eBe, and I got hooked on eBe politics. There have been times I loved it and times I hated it, but it has always been my true home in the game.



Today, after a several-month hiatus, most of which was spent in the eUK and 2-clicking, I am back and ready to fight the good fight. I am here because, as much as I have wished not to, I still really care about this crazy eCountry and her citizens. I tried to stay away. I have avoided reading the forum or the media for days or even weeks at a time, knowing that I would often find things that upset me there. But in the end, when my dear Cotarius suggested it was time for us to return, I found I was ready.

So, you may ask, why am I here? I am here for love of the community that kept me from dropping out of the game 3 years ago, and for the truly amazing people I found in it. I am here because I know we can be better, and I would like to think I can make a difference. I am here to turn my concerns about the direction this eNation is taking into positive action.



It is for that reason that I have returned to Res Belgica and announce my intention to run for Congress this term. I still have a lot of RL things going on, in some ways more than before, but I want to be involved again with people and causes I care about. As I have been getting more involved in political/social issues in RL, I want to return to those in this game, as well.

I have a fundamental belief that there is something good in all people. Before we become God(desse)s of War, there is already a divine spark born in us. I believe this in RL, and because there are real people playing this game, I believe it in game. That does not mean, however, that I think everything anybody does is good or acceptable. Where I find spitefulness, disrespect, dishonesty, or any other negative behavior, I will stand against it. I think and hope that there are many others in eBe who will stand with me. I stand ready to fight on the battlefield for the defense of our country and our allies, but for me, the biggest fight will be for truth, justice and respect in our community. I am ready for this fight. Are you ready to stand together for the good of eBe?
