Hekter for President -- The Economy

Day 740, 02:02 Published in Philippines USA by Hekter

[Firstly I'd like to thank the Fifth Filipino Party for also endorsing my bid in December. 😃 Much love!]

Let's face it--the wargames are not exactly the economy's best friend at the moment. Our currency had been devalued specifically for exports not long before the games began to pull up in full swing, and the consequences began to ripple across our small economy. Since then, things have been less than stellar, and Congress has struggled with finding a solution that both keeps our economy afloat without devaluing our currency to worthlessness nor throwing gold around like it's free candy for businesses.

I will not make it a secret--I believe that government, most especially in this situation, provides the best overall management structure for an eRep economy. Real Life bureaucracies needed to manage whole economies are decidedly simple in eRep with only a few products to manage and a few companies existing. As Congressional Speaker ReviloX has sai😛

"...It is much better if for example, all 4 oil companies in Philippines have the same price, must be the cheapest in the world if possible.

Then, if we browsed for the cheapest oil in erep tool, we will see 4 Philippine company at the top 4 spot.

Definitely, the buyer will go here in Philippines, since he is secure, having 4 companies selling at the same price."

While I, nor any other government official or body, can force companies to set certain prices, I will definitely be working with officials to at least work with companies to set recommendations and standards for prices and wages, possibly with reduced-rate PHP as an incentive. Through firm but intelligent guidance, we can continue to develop our economy through these rough waters and continue to grow in prosperity.

I have full confidence that we will be able to retain economic freedom while also encouraging control, and by extension, growth as a market. This is why my campaign goal is to grow the GDP, while by a nominally small amount [5%], if accomplished it will be a pleasant reversal from the downward slide we have been experiencing. All ideas are to be heard--this is not the be-all end-all to my economic policy, but it is one of trying new things, even if they are new. Working with businesses for the good of the nation is in everyone's interest 😃

On a recent foreign-affairs note, Viva Malaysia!
