GrendelGrendel – Your South East Region RFA Congressional Candidate.

Day 1,068, 14:51 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by GrendelGrendel

Brevity is an attribute much to be admired and so in the hope of gaining a little admiration I shall be brief.

Also this will be a ‘wall of text thing for a couple of reasons. Firstly because if one focuses hard enough on the text one doesn’t really need pictures breaking concentration. That’s a route to reading the ‘Red Tops’ rather than the ‘Broadsheets' and a retreat into laziness.

But primarily because I haven’t figured out how to code in pictures and frankly the mortality clock is ticking and it’s time I wouldn’t get back.

So, why the South East, why the RFA and why me?

I asked to run in the South East because that’s where I live in RL and so I do feel rather attached to the region in game. This was the only region I have ever wanted to run for. I haven’t been a Congressional candidate before as I hadn’t had the opportunity to run in the South East before. As is somewhat obvious this has now changed.

I have been a member of the RFA pretty much since I started playing the game back in January. The eagle eyed amongst you will have also noticed my sojourn in ‘Heorot – The Mead Hall Party’ and my candidature for CP a couple of months ago. This was a serious attempt to ensure a land fit for mead swilling heroes and having received 14 votes it was (in my eyes only perhaps) a bit of a moral victory.

However back to the why the RFA? Basically because they have always canvassed views of players from all political persuasions and sought to create policy positions and practical solutions for the benefit of the player rather than a blind adherence to an eRep or RL political credo.

And why me? Well I can’t guarantee that I will be available for every vote or every debate (a whole bunch of RL stuff going on) but I will be available to support my constituents as appropriate and as required.

I’m not going to propose specific measures here or try to convince you that I know more about the mechanics of the military or the economy than I do because I don’t and would get caught out pretty quickly.

But what I will do is subject my potential choices or debating positions to the following test. Will the question or resolution further empower the player, will it prevent or reduce bureaucracy in the eState and most fundamentally will it add to the enjoyment of the game?

That’s it really. I’m not going to wish my opponents luck. I doubt they will need it and I’d rather have the tail wind for myself. As a ‘Noob’ candidate one can do with all the help available. But I wish them the very best in their positions should you favour them with your votes. I’ll just try to do my best for you and the (rather odd) game that we play should you favour me.

wæs þu hæl.
