PART I: GLD; a presentation

Now and then

Dear all,

This wednesday, a new congress and government will be chosen in the eUNL and by the looks of it, it will be one of the most interesting elections so far. The Belgian Party and the Libertarian Social Democrats haven seen a magnificient rise in numbers, while Iron and Wine and the Green Liberal Democrats are trailing them at humble distance. But, will BP and LSD succeed in getting a high percentage of voters? Will GLD and I&W be able to limit the damage? Is GVD about to grow or will they be steady in numbers as they always are?

We, the Green Liberal Democrats, have always been a very active party. Allthough not as big as some others, we have a relatively high number of dedicated and hard-working members which has resulted in us having a loyal group of followers that we hope will grow in time. Only two and a half months ago, the GLD wasn't even part of the five biggest parties and look where we are standing now!

In the period of the existance of the GLD, the eUNL has seen its share of change. The recent babyboom has resulted in a huge increase of citizens, but this process has been one with a local flavour, since most newcomers decided to settle in the Walloon region. A hospital has been bought for this region, its inhabitants have entered the job-market and business is booming, but there are also negative sounds to be heard; it seems a small group of people in the southern provinces is preparing to try to get eBelgium on the map once again and break the eUNL alliance that has proved to be so succesfull.

United we stand

As with all new initiatives, growth is a process of trial and error. Whether it is a political party, a company or a whole country, one cannot succeed without making mistakes and learning from them. We as a party have had our share of initiatives gone wrong, but on the other hand we have seen a much larger number of sucesses and that is the one and only thing that counts in the end.

The Green Liberal Democrats is a very colourful party; we have members from all over the globe, of all ages and of all backgrounds. We have different opinions, even though we belong to the same party. It is namely our believe , that it's not the party that dictates what its members think, but the other way around. And in the end, there's always one colour that unites us all, and that is Green: It stands for growth, prosperity and a healthy society. Originally, the colour Green is also associated with action; without it, there will never be change. It also stands for emotion and activity: the GLD is always trying to come up with new ideas and inititiatives, and never afraid to let themselves be heard.

Diversity and differences can be fruitfull, but to make it work costs time and both investments as well as sacrifices from everyone. The Green Liberal Democrats strive for a great future for the eUNL, a country in which everybody is equal, united in our efforts and enjoying the results together.

Best regards,

Pander Sols
Party President of the GLD
