Great Britain's Show

Day 1,712, 03:53 Published in Canada Canada by Catsoo

I watched the Olympic Opening Ceremony last night until the very end. (Even though it lasted until 1 in the morning...😛) I nearly cried, and I freely admit that. I live in England and it's like the second country in my heart, and when I saw that opening that must have taken years to produce, I felt like crying. I never cry. It was just gorgeous. Every bit of it was just as it was meant to be. The history of England in just 20 minutes shown in a gorgeous way. It really does show you how great Great Britain really is.

And when all the countries and their athletes came, it was very symbolic. Each country had their spotlight and it was all very equal. I supported 3 countries in the parade. Canada, Portugal and Great Britain. All 3 had a huge applause and deserved them. There were some bits in the parade that were a bit off though; Why was there French being spoken? And why the first language spoken when it was in England? And some country's names were pronounced wrong, countries like Liechtenstein and Lithuania. Other than that, it was gorgeous.

Most Brits didn't know what was going to happen. It was all a complete surprise. And the cauldron was amazing. It was so original, I had never seen anything like it before. Although it must be a hefty gas bill to keep it running for around 2 weeks... 😛

All in all, it was gorgeous and amazing. I think Britain did great and it definitely surpassed Sydney and Beijing. Canada deserved a bigger applause though... 😉
