Goodbye USTC: A Tale of Transfer

Day 757, 20:52 Published in USA USA by Aersidius

On day 748, I graduated with honors from the United States Training Corps. I was ecstatic, all my efforts and hard work had paid off. I was then transferred from the 112th Top Guns training platoon to the 305th Power Chamber. I was in the clouds and life was GOOD. I reported for duty each day, followed the orders given, and spent spare time in the corps' irc lounge. The moral of the troops in the lounge was like nothing else. Communicating with well-trained and caring officers on a daily basis made me feel as though I was an important cog in a massive machine. I received a letter from my platoon leader asking which branch I'd like to transfer to. I answered that I'd prefer to stay right here in the training corps, at least until I was capable of promotion as to XO. And so I reported for duty, followed combat orders each day, and chilled in the irc lounge. Nothing could make service life any better...

I was enjoying my time in the lounge when the the unthinkable happened. An envelope from a large stack was handed to me by an assistant of the Reserve Division XO. Uh oh. Nervously, I opened the envelope. Looking around the room many of the soldiers had similar looking letters, and seemed happy about what they had read. I assumed it must be something good, I unfolded the single sheet of fine paper...and my heart dropped.

I was being sent away? Well they called it an 'Honorable Discharge' with a transfer to the Home Guard. What a disappointment. As I thought more about my situation I realized I was just to attached. The USTC had completed its mission, at least for me it had. I arrived as a citizen and left as a soldier. I was well-trained, filled with morale and camaraderie. Though I had not realized it, my superiors ha😛 I was ready for action.

Thanks goes out to 2nd Lt. Disco Musolini, SGM Nived, and the officers and staff of the United States Training Corps for another job well done.

I have included a scrapbook of my training and combat with the USTC below.

This was my first attempt at a military salute.
