- BACK TO NEWSPAPER INDEX -

The Green Liberal Democrats is a Center-libertarian party founded the 16th of June 2009 by the former member Peter Green. We are a Unionist party, in favour of economic and social growth, freedom, democracy, transparency, and investment in new citizens.

Our main goals for eUnited Netherlands are the following:

1) Building a strong local economy with local jobs, exporting quality products to the rest of the world

The Green Liberal Democrats believe that economic development is one of the main pillars of our country. We see our local businessman and - woman as the key factor for economic growth. Hence why we, at the GLD, focus our plans on the strengthening and the encouragement of local businesses. We have several ideas on how to achieve this.

Government controlled state-loans

Our Government regularly invests money into state-owned companies. We have always had a somewhat critical stand towards the state-companies. We do, however, realize that some of these companies like the Hospital and defence-system company and the training-companies are a great asset to our Union. Though, the GLD thinks that the government should invest money into the citizens of this Union. We believe that government controlled state-loans offer an alternative to the state-owned companies. By handing out loans the government will stimulate new entrepreneurs to start or buy a company, providing jobs to our Union and increasing overall welfare. A coach can be assigned to this newcomer entrepreneurs to provide them with the necessary information to make the company a success. This way our country and its citizens can flourish.

Improving our economy through foreign affairs and increasing our export-potential

The eUNL isn't a self-sufficient system, thus to strengthen our local economy we have to co-operate with foreign countries. The trade-agreements that we had in the Beta-version were lost during the installation of V1.0. Though, we believe in GLD that we can improve our local economy by going international. By using our ambassadors that are installed in several countries across the eWorld we can set up a trade-network where we can complement other markets and vice versa. For example, if we would have a surplus of weapons in the eUNL, we could sell a part of our stocks in foreign countries where the supply of weapons is low. The other way around, we can attract foreign companies that supplement our local market with products we could use. That way we strengthen our economy and improve the balance between import and export in our country. In the end it works in interests of the prosperity of all participants.

2) Participatory democracy and government transparency

Democracy is one of the most important advances in history. We want to strenghten our democracy and the only way of reaching it is increasing the number of voters. That could only be reached by keeping our citizens informed. Good information means transparency and that's one of our most desired goal.

Improving democracy

We, at the Green Liberal Democrats, believe democracy is the most important value in this game, which can only be improved by letting each citizen express himself freely. In Green Liberal Democrats we think that this can only be true if we promote discussion and debates where everybody declares his opinion respectfully.

Closing the gap between government and "public".

We believe that it is important for the Union that our citizens are actively involved in the running of this country. Nowadays, there is a gap between the government and the "public" which de-motivates active political engagement. To be politically engaged you need an opinion, which can only be formulated when enough unbiased information is being given. This is in coherence with our next point: Government Transparency, we believe it is important that our citizens get as much information as possible.

Government transparency.

The GLD believes government transparency is an important tool in improving political involvement and democracy. The citizens of this country have the right to information. There should be a steady flow of information from the government to the people, and the government should be open about expenses.

3) Encouraging creativity instead of a state run economy

As it is said before Green Liberal Democrats believe that economy is one of the basic pillars of a country. But we don't look at companies just like a way of making benefits or providers of jobs. We believe that if we encourage individual talent we can motivate citizens and provide them the possibility of burnish their reputation and fulfill oneself.

Limiting the growth of the state companies

Nowadays there are fifteen companies distributed all over the country in almost all the economic sectors. The Green Liberal Democrats think that this is an excessive number, so we won't support an increase in numbers of state companies, although we realize that some are important especially for inexperienced player who need to improve their working skills.

Researching the necessity of state companies and privatise those that are unnecessary

The Green Liberal Democrats support an analysis of the state companies. We believe that some companies should be privatised and we wish to research the possibilities there are.
However, we are not planning on privatising all state-companies as we acknowledge the importance of some companies. Based on the outcome of the analysis there should be a decision whether the companies are viable, a social addition or an economic enrichment to our country. If the companies aren't a necessity, we believe privatising is the best option.

4) Unity

The Green Liberal Democrats are a Unionists party, we support and defend this Unity as good as our power lets us. At this moment the eUNL has reached a prosperity that we could never have reached without the merging taking place. It is in the best interest of all citizens that this Union is protected and guarded at all time.
