GLD congress' presence triples
GLD HQ
-- BACK TO MAIN NEWSPAPER INDEX --
As stated almost a month ago, the Green Liberal Democrats are still alive. The month of July saw a real surge in activity for the party that had been declared dead.
That is why today the youngest party within the eUNL, proudly congratulates all of their members with this big victory. With six seats we trippled our presence within congress (last term in congress, our third member only joined after he felt more at home with the Green Liberals).
The Green Liberals is truly proud of their broad group of party members that can be called anything but identical and similar. We draw our voters from a diverse group of eUNL citizens and we really don't care if they live in the former Belgian or the former Dutch parts of the country. The Green Liberal Democrats will always be a home for anyone who feels that government shouldn't dictate your eLive and erepublik is about having a fun and good experience together with an engaged and lively community we all want to be part of.
We also are truly proud that all of our elected congress members are active forum participators. We call upon each and every GLD member, who wants and feels like it, to join us there and get into the discussion as to what is best for the eUNL.
We also want to congratulate our opponents:
- The Party that fights for the Belgians INTERESTS did really do well! BP: have shown to be a strong force to be reckoned with. Thanks to BP we will not forget that our country is made up out of Dutch and Belgian citizens. We encourage their congress member to be active in both forum and congress debates.
- Our party to the left, the LSD has shown that through commitment, hard work, visibility and taking responsibility you will get noticed (and of course they really have the vote moving down 😉
).
- Iron & Wine has lost some seats, but together with the GLD they are a medium sized party. With a lot of experienced players within their ranks: they are an active party, like the GLD, which can only be a good thing for the eUNL.
Last, but not least:
GVD. We don't want to be as harsh in our comments as some other political party members were. We think that a different noise, a different perspective is what we all need and it keeps politics interesting. Otherwise we could form one big party where people agree with one another 100% of the time. We should not ignore each other, as long as we keep the debate alive and listen to each others arguments we should be able to make eUNL a fun and rewarding place to live. GVD has one member in congress, we wish him the best and hope to hear from him soon in debate.
Last but not least:
Everyone who voted a big thank you is in place. We won't let you down, we promise.
The Green Liberal Democrats will keep working towards: fair taxes and wages, towards a free and creative economy, and towards government transparency.

Do you know that don't say all the truth is the begining of the lies?
"The Party that fights for the Belgians rights" ... The Belgian Party fight for the belgian interests AND WORK FOR A BETTER EUNL.
Thanks
You are right Slivever. We've updated the article to reflect better the statement from your programme: 'rights' should be 'interest'.
Other then that there is no lie. BP is fighting for the Belgian interests (as you just stated yourself up above). And because of the size of your party, you could not be doing a better job. There is obviously a need for a party like that within the eUNL.
I personally think that maybe other parties - including our own - should look seriously at our programmes and see where we can improve on that issue.
To be more clear:
The issue is to see how other parties can adress the feeling of Belgian citizens that they are being left out?
Is it only purely cosmetical (all the suggestions for a new flag and name)? Or are we doing things wrong at a more structural base? Cultural differences and such?
Voted, thank you for the nice words about GVD 🙂 And it's totally true about 100% agreeing all the time, in fact, I play this game for fun, and I like playing the black sheep of dutch politics for now 🙂
Congratulation for your result !
@ Paladijn : This is a really constructive position. This is a way to improve the eUNL all together ! We will have to find out, but maybe it's just in our culture : We won our freedom only a few hundred years ago.
For years we were ruled by other countries, now we are even fighting inside our country. We were, and still are, forced to fight for our country, our mother. Maybe it's still hard for a lot of us to change that IG.
I do not really see a cause for the Belgian interest. There isn't a single active party big enough to harm any interest of former Belgian players. LSD, I&W and GLD are all supporters of this Union in the same way the BP is. We've all adapted into speaking english, we changed the name of our country by referendum. We can't really do anything official, we can't change the flag or the name of the country ingame. And the fact that it's the Netherlands which "took over" Belgium is because that was the only thing that could save Belgium the way it was when the Unification took place.
We improved the Belgian infrastructure as we all agreed. We removed all Dutch flags, all Dutch nationalistic symbols in government, forum, IRC, to make the Southern Unionist feel more at home. Can't you understand that, the existence of a Belgian Party with a partially Belgian-nationalistic programme and which uses Belgian nationalistic symbols in their party's news is rather disturbing considering what we gave up to make you guys more comfortable.
Whilst we all fight for the interest of the UNL, we keep struggeling against a party that is strong in numbers because it aims mainly at the inhabitants of the Southern part of our Union. Why is it that only the Dutch have to be tolerant? Whilst BP makes propaganda for the Belgian interest, any Dutch post made is seen as an attack on the Union? Explain yourself BP, what exactly is the Belgian Interest?
@mark decius: thumbs up 🙂
Unity!
@Slivever,
U mean unity of all belgiums against the UNL? or?
