GGRyan: Denying Accountability and Economic Incompetence?

At a time of great change and upheaval in eRepublik, what we need at this time is a leader with great leadership skills, and also of equal importance a sense of how the game works and the way the country is run. We need an accountable leader who will answer to the people, and not only do we need someone capable in Foreign Affairs and the Military, but we need someone who understands the economic module and has a working knowledge to help him make serious decisions about the future of the economy. This knowledge would be a pre requisite of any potential president surely? The answer to that, is unfortunately not.

At the end of June this year, respected citizen and my person friend GGRyan approached me asking for a modest loan of 10g to help kickstart his business prospects. A decent rate of return (20% a month for 3 months) and trust in him gave me no reservations about lending to him.

However, as September loomed to a close and the 3 months were nearly up, during a conversation with GGRyan (MoFa at the time) I asked him if he would be able to repay my money (16g by this point) However, to my astonishment he simply blanked me and ignored my question each time I asked it. This continued for several days over IRC where he would completely ignore me in conversation, until the point when I simply said “I’m not going to be mad at you, I just want to know what you have done with my money.”

Then he opened up and confessed to me that he had squandered it all away and that he wouldn’t be able to repay me any time soon. Now, let’s just leave aside the issue of the money for a minute. A respectable cabinet member and potential Prime Minister completely blanked me when I asked for a valid explanation of where my money had gone? How unbelievable is that?! In a job which requires you to be publicly accountable and to own up and admit to mistakes, I cannot believe that this man simply would not accept accountability for his actions, something that is essential in a president.

Do you really want this person, who completely screws up then hides from accountability as your president? I know this is one of the main reasons I am not voting for him. The other important issue to discuss is his financial incompetence.

At a time when we as a country are struggling for funds, at a time when strong direction is needed, do we really want a man who has shown that he cannot manage a single company? Whilst I admit that yes mistakes do happen, surely this shows that on the cusp of achieving the premiership, GGRyan has no real working knowledge of the economics module and has completely messed up dealing with a small amount of money? Could you imagine what he would be like if handed control of the direction and finances of the nation at this crucial time?

For many within the right who have gleefully spent the last week saying that all the woes of our economy is down to the left (despite UKRP member Thatcher being MoF for a number of months, and them backing the disastrous term of JB before jamesw was re-elected) it is laughable that they present this candidate as the one to solve all the economic problems of our time.

When recently asked in an interview what strengths GGRyan had over jamesw, he replie😛 “I havent ran the country before, and so I have a fresh outlook, a fresh agenda and I will be more likely to consider everything.” [Incorrect punctuation from original quote] Is he seriously suggesting that his inexperience is what makes him a stronger candidate than jamesw, a veteran politician with a wealth of experience in economics?

To conclude, do you, the electorate, want someone running your country who has repeatedly avoided accountability for his actions, shown himself to be untrustworthy and has proven economic incompetence? And I haven’t even gotten started on RyaJ.
