General Update - Congress Thingymabober

Day 609, 10:51 Published in Japan Denmark by Oraizan

There is a lot to be said, so lets get to it!

IRC
As my last article said, I have spent a good majority of my past 2 days trying to make the IRC more enjoyable. Last night was pretty interesting actually. As I was putting the final touches on the new "vending machine" coding, I missed one bracket. It took me around 5 times rewriting the code to figure out why it wasn't working. I guess I shouldn't stay up so late to do these things? Hopefully it will at least put a smile on your face. 🙂

I added a few features after my last article, which I wrote about in the forums. http://nipponblog.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=70&start=10 . I won't post them here on IRC (because it is a lot to post), but please take a look if you havent!

I plan to continue to update my bot NekoMimi_Miko for the IRC. Since I brought her and trivia into the IRC, the IRC is rarely quiet. It is very nice to see (normally quiet) people speaking out more, and I hope it continues.

If you don't normally frequent the IRC, you should definitely drop by! Foreign citizens are welcome as well!

Ambassadors
I have recently made addons (which I spoke of earlier) to the forum for Japanese Ambassadors, but not many have contacted me. Those who don't may be replaced/assisted soon. Due to the current war issues I will be checking up on all my Ambassadors. It is not that I don't trust you, I just found one Ambassador spreading a bad image of Japan. That is the opposite of an Ambassadors job, so of course I can't let it continue...

Congress
I am again running in Kanto for the 4th time since my career in politics started. I have grown and learned a lot since my first time running, and I hope to use this knowledge one day for something greater. That is another story though. 😉

I pretty much always answer the same questions (granted, questions I think up myself) 'why am I running for congress' 'What do I want to do' etc. This time I want to focus on what YOU want instead. I started off 4 months ago saying 'I want to run for my country and it's citizens, so that they are heard'. I haven't changed in that aspect at all.

With the recent survey I conducted about beliefs of the average citizen, I have been able to accurately determine what the majority REALLY wants. What you want is Activity, fun, war, something to do other then click. I pretty much knew that from the beginning, but now I think I understand more specifically what is important in keeping the citizens active.

War is one main factor, there is no denying it. While other countries will go to much worse lengths to get war for their citizens, I cannot. I do however support war-games, and I am very glad that we have many options out for war-games coming up. Hopefully this will satisfy many of you, and our activity will boom.

No, the main reason I support it is because you want it, and it generates a lot. The amount of Tax money we gained from the last war-game was shocking when I calculated it (I re-did my calculations 3 times and had someone else check, because I did not believe it) I understood a little why the other countries are so big.

To grow as a country we need war-games, there is no denying that either anymore. The big countries are big because they have had these massive tax bursts from war, and in-turn are able to fund their army with greater amounts. For Japan to grow and extend it's army, we need the same.

I do not support oppressing (TOing) another country though. I will never have the imperialistic 'Japan is the best! lets extend her boarders!' type of thought. Mainly because the facts out there are that Japan and its population and such cannot afford to add more regions. Adding more adds more risk to the country.

During that survey and calculating the taxes everything became a lot more clear to me. Thank you those who filled out the quiz, it was a very interesting read. Those that have voted for me in the past, thank you for this opportunity.

Overall I support raising the funding of the army. I have been calculating the taxes to determine if the amount that the JIA wanted was really affordable. Hopefully soon we will be able to raise this.

I also support growing the activity of the citizens. Over my time I have brought in holidays, and more recently I brought games and moderating to the IRC. I really want to continue this. I feel that over the time being here my idea's have sparked interest in other citizens, and I want that to continue.

While I believe war (war-games) is the key to success, I also find relations with other countries one of the most important aspects in the game. Currently as MoFA I have been working to reach out to other countries. Mainly I started by joining their IRC's (I was in... soooo many channels!) and I slowly moved to joining all forums. This was to extend relations as well as check up on my Ambassadors.

The more allies we have, the easier it will be to survive. Current events will not change our relations, we will continue to blossom. Hopefully my last ramble gave you a good idea of what I stand for!

Vote Oraizan in Kanto!

Feel free to ask me questions! I really want to answer some!

"When you plant lettuce, if it does not grow well, you don't blame the lettuce. You look into the reasons it is not doing so well. It may need fertilizer, or more water, or less sun. You never blame the lettuce. Yet if we have our problems with our friends or our family, we blame the other person. But if we know how to take care of them, they will grow well, like lettuce. Blaming has no positive effect at all, nor does trying to persuade using reason and arguments. That is my experience. No blame, no reasoning, no arguement, just understanding. If you understand, and you show that you understand, you can love and the situation will change."
