Fun, and a rebirth: Thoughts on why we play

Hello people all around the eUS and elsewhere, my name is RaccoonGoon, as you can see, and I'm back.
Back from where you might ask?
Well, I'm back from the urban jungle known as real life.
And quite the jungle it is, I might add.
Simple math tells me it's been 933 days (read as: more than 2.5 years) since I last wrote an article, so with my recent resurrection, I figure now is as good a time as any. Lately, I've been doing a lot of idling and talking to people to figure out one thing:
What could have possessed me to come back here?
Despite professional consultation advising me that it may be due to the influence of Satan himself, I've come to a slightly different conclusion.
Why am I here? I'm looking for something fun to do, or something entertaining to be a part of.
That brings up another question: How do we still have fun with this game, despite all it's problems? Aye, there's the rub. Although some people (and some countries) may take things much too seriously in eRepublik, the average player is just here to have fun and kill time. Sometimes, this quest for some fun sometimes rubs people the wrong way (US-AIM, I'm looking at you guys.)
Is that really a bad thing though? I don't think so. Fun is an intangible thing, it's different things for different people, and considering that we're here, all killing time in a browser game rife with problems, what we should be doing as a nation is figuring out what we can do that will provide fun, both for us and for as many others as possible.
US-AIM made their own fun. I'm back and looking for mine. What's fun for you? Have you found it yet? If not, maybe you should stop what you're doing and find something that is fun
tl;dr: I'm back. If you remember me, I applaud your memory. More importantly, I'm here for fun. You should be too.
Oh, as a post script, does anyone other than me remember this?
I know some people were having fun back then. I know we can find fun again.

wasn't the prelude to V2 the stinking elites ruining the game for as many as possible, entertaining learning how the minds of the smaller inclined work and layers blame the Admins, too funny.
