Free gold and other moreorless relevant issues

Day 2,149, 14:50 Published in Czech Republic Czech Republic by DaLe

Just some of my thoughts on some comments, particularly at
http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/impeach-plato-1-2327257/1/20#comments

E.g. in Russia they send two years to labor camp for singing a song. E.g. in Czech Republic, the "wtf do u want" glare is not rare when entering a store. Even compared to the second, eRep Labs seems alright. And customer service where one is expected to constantly smile and repeat the same sentences up to several hundreds times during one shift (usually for or at around minimal wage)... horrible...

Anyhow, e.g. Urban Rivals (my nick there: Da1e) is a private company too and while enjoyable sort of for free (besides costs for computer, internet connection, electricity and time on user's end anyhow) with possibilities to earn both in-game currencies in game events, spending money fills collection faster and provides fund for smooth server/s as well graphical artists etc. But.. but.. e.g. google is for free... ? Not really if you consider that their income is a lot of advertisments which is not really both e.g. here and in UR. Economical value of customers? Well, in a developed country with salary of e.g. 2000 EUR / month, sort of, tho based on eventual spending anyhow, such as that the "economical" value of targetted ads to persons with such salary assumes eventual spending by such persons - in which is also important that if end-users are fund-less minors then there is no such value anyhow, besides then the whole issue of "customer"-service (mostly paid for except where anyone does it for free for a virtual badge of sorts) costing money (e.g. imagine that it can take up to half an hour or more to read and individually respond to a ticket about something the users somehow put some words together to sort of describe - so that is about 16 tickets in one shift, possibly even less if some investigation or so is involved, so about 300 tickets-responses at the cost of about 1000?EUR, roughly calculated).

Personally, i sure prefer to work and spend an hour or two after shift on "game" eventually with a bit of spending per month than sitting at it 16 hours a day to 'earn worth a few Euro of really meaningless bits'. And honestly, if in a game such as this everyone with plenty of free time would be at significant advantage, then it wouldn't really make much sense for anyone else to play, would it? So in that sense, eRep seems alright in that all game options are available also to those who didn't spend even one Euro of their money (they mostly have some if sitting at a computer/mobile with internet connection) while also based on basically 1 to 3 logins a day without lossing out if not sitting at it 10 hours in a row or so. Of course, other models are also possible, such as premium accounts (often meaning "game" advantage) or simply no real access to playing if not paying monthly fee.

All in all, I enjoy the sort of free model, tho I also agree in that the game is flawed so or so if the actual game is heavily influenced by spending (and/or scams connected to that). So, e.g. Trackmania United i would prefer to play most of e-playing time if i wouldn't be sitting at a laptop not good enough to run it with 5GB / month internet connection. But after all, e.g. Conquer Club offers full access for merely around 20 EUR a year tho sort of offers less than eRep (in which a player doesn't have to spend even that amount).

Long short, in eRep it seems achievable to earn "extra" gold through BH achievements and/or through economical activity, albeit agreed that especially in an e-country with many players an economical flaw here seems to be the issue of assumedly dumping prices (e.g. production financed by earned/purchased gold, and/or friends working for free). Small countries even with minimal work and VA taxes, and with half the salaries have higher production costs than countries with many bonuses (when anyone working as employee there). So yeah, not saying these things are irrelevant, tho the aforementioned i mentioned as to emphasise that the whole shell of the game and its financing is relevant to the issues in-game so or so, meaning that regardless of eventual in-game restructuring and what about it, boundaries to it are sort of pre-set due to the model of financing (and obviously, some financing needed as to pay salaries, rent, ... and probably re-pay some loan/s of sort). And of course, especially if there was no gold involved with the "economy", then the only gold to spend would be on strength (and energy).
