Flamur for President - Part Three.

Day 591, 15:06 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Flamur
Introduction

This article will be detailing my plans on the military and foreign affairs should I become the eUK President on the 5th July 2009.

Our country’s military is viewed as a joke by the rest of the world. Already measures are taking place to reform our military, which have so far been hugely successful and can hopefully become more successful.

However, more needs to be done to put the eUK back on the international stage and make us a respected nation. With my vast experience in the military I know what this country now needs and I know how to achieve it. I know what it takes.

Similarly with Foreign Affairs, we have seen our relations tumble with our closest allies and even people who we do not view as our allies. Improvements are slowly coming through, but more drastic action is needed, no more sitting along the sidelines of diplomacy, the eUK needs to be in the centre of diplomacy, where we, its people, excel. We know we are a strong nation, and very soon, we will prove that to the world.

We are a respectable nation. A fair nation. Above all, a friendly nation. We are the eUK.

Military

Already companies are being set up for the Royal Navy, but they are not gaining our Armed Forces enough weapons to train sufficiently into a proper military unit. Our weapons are being stockpiled in case of an emergency, which is of course a noble goal.

However, if we truly wish to have a working war machine we need to have a steady flow of weapons flooding in, so that both the Royal Guard and the Royal Navy are able to fight in every battle with a weapon. This means that in every Training War and in the unlikely event of a war, five weapons will be supplied to each and every soldier at a negotiable interval.
This is something that I will discuss with the MoDaFA and MoE to see what is a realistic target that we can both afford and achieve. I realize this can’t be done overnight but it is one of my main military goals.

To achieve this, I will set up another weapons company that Royal Guard members will work in, producing weapons.
To supply a constant stream of Iron, a new Navy Company will be set up in a high Iron region and Navy volunteers will be asked to work there.
Already, the Navy has 4 companies, which proves that this endeavour is easily achievable.
After the new Royal Guard company has been set up, we will look to provide further funding for more companies or as a system of income for the navy, allowing it to further improve as a military unit.

Similarly, I will increase military funding to 40% of the nation’s GDP, to pay for the military’s companies wages, starting up companies, and buying and stockpiling weapons for future use.

40% may seem like a large amount but I can assure you it is the only amount that we can realistically use to transform our military into something that we can all be proud of. Something that I, as well as many others, see as a requirement to be noticed on the international scene as something more than a joke.

Now, a reform to the structure of the Ministry of Defence. For too long the Minister of Defence hasn’t appointed an Under Minister to help them. This is largely down to the fact an Under Minister would have very little or even nothing to do.

However, I believe it is time the Ministry has a minor reform to make it much more efficient.
Bringing in an Under Minister of Defence whose job is to be the main method of communication between the three branches of the eUK’s military, meaning he co-ordinates the branches, making sure the Commanding Officers’ are fully aware of their counterpart’s actions.
The Under Minister would also write articles using the MoD newspaper to detail un-classified missions for the public to see what their military has achieved and giving the nation a sense of pride in their military’s achievements.

Two Junior Minister jobs will be opened up as well, one in charge of recruitment, the other in charge of logistics.
The Recruitment Junior Minister will work with the three branches of the military to co-ordinate recruitment campaigns and will also write regular recruitment articles.
The Logistics Junior Minister will help run the military’s companies, abroad and at home.

These are things that I think will be vital to the needed success of our armed forces. Too few articles about our armed forces are released, and I do not blame our current ministers. They have a lot of work to complete and not everyone here has no life. This is why with the introduction of a UMoD and JMoD’s, things can run much more smoothly and efficiently.

Yes, it may sound complicated. And it isn’t simple, I agree. However, I feel this is part of the first few steps we need to take towards international and national respect and security.

Finally, I will try to arrange more frequent Training Wars. Now, I am aware that this is not an easy endeavour and will take a lot of negotiation and planning. But I think it can be achievable, and again, something we need in order to give experience to our armed forces which will better prepare us for future wars.

I will aim to achieve this by looking into the possibilities of TW’s with the USA, Netherlands, France, Ireland, Hungary or Canada. All will be looked at with equal merit and the best option shall be chosen by discussing the matter with the ministers and congress, whilst keeping the public informed about decisions so to not spring any surprise information on them.

Foreign Affairs

Foreign Affairs has been an incredibly topical issue this month, with the entire country holding their breath, wondering which way the eUK will swing. Into Fortis, PEACE or simple neutrality.

I believe that our best option, or our only option is to become neutral at this moment in time. Some may dislike the option of neutrality, claiming it achieves nothing and is merely an invitation for Fortis or PEACE to invade us. However, with the current clear split between congress and the public, we cannot afford to have any more outbreaks of in-fighting over the issue.

Furthermore, our current Foreign Affairs team, which I am proud to call myself an Under Minister of, is without a doubt, top of the range. I am certain beyond belief that our FA team can glide the eUK safely into the freedom and security it deserves.

I intend to retain the current Ministry structure, for all ministries. Specifically, I believe that the current system of MoDaFA and its umbrella ministries works incredibly efficiently.

Having worked in it myself I can see the change. It has greatly increased communication between Defence and Foreign Affairs. However, I would increase the Ministry’s size, adding in more jobs so that more people can get more experienced so our future Minister’s are fully experienced and competent at their jobs.
This would also cut down the workload on all the ministry since Foreign Affairs is one of the most hard-working and busy of all Ministries, especially in this difficult time.

However, on top of this I also believe that it is vital to keep a ministry as simple as possible. Whilst I do not want to have 10 different ministries for 3 related issues, I do feel that more positions are needed to allow ministers to delegate effectively and allow our ministries to run slightly more efficiently.

As I said earlier, I feel that neutrality is currently the best choice for the country. Whilst I myself am slightly leaned towards Fortis, if we take a look at our situation and our surroundings, many would agree that, especially with the split in congress and the more vocal members of the forum, it would not be a wise choice to force the country to go one side or the other.

Many negotiations have taken place about this issue and we have failed to come out with a solid answer. This is why I strongly believe that, at least for the moment, we should remain neutral. To accomplish security during these times, I would work closely with our MoDaFA to monitor our situation and keep relations high with our
traditional and close allies, whilst building new friendships with countries such as France, Italy, Hungary and more.

This is the way forward for our nation. These are the steps that we need to take in order to secure our countries sovereignty, improve its military and eventually provide a stronger, better and more fun country to live, work and fight for.

I believe that I am the person that can guide us through these times of change. On the 5th, if you feel I am the right candidate for the job, then I urge you to vote for me. Vote for change that we can, and will, achieve. Vote for Flamur.
