THE POINT:
I'll lay this out simply. Over the course of the past 10 months, our country's Budgets have grown dramatically.
Senate records have been locked and some previous articles have been archived beyond easy reach, although the estimates from personal records taken equate expenditure to AUD $1,200,000 per term, on average, over the course of the preceding six months.
We have gained little in taxes and levies (in-game) from sporadic region gains and without a full-proof plan to take back our full region balance outstanding from eChile et al within the next week or so, we need to start to work with what we have guaranteed in the bank. Further, any Treasury figures are locked to usage without the expenditure appropriation of an in-game Congress *. Again, the region issue plays a part in that.
A reminder to newer players: There is NO CREDIT function in eRepublik cash mechanics.
Calling all government dollars to the forefront at a current (accessible) cash account balance of $ 5,812,472.64 (incl. GOLD added to AUD), using last estimates of spending per term of $1,200,000 - we'd be broke in 4 months and 3 weeks.
I will remind readers that we have been, largely, without a secure nation and a congress for the past 2 ½ months. Spending at current levels 4 more times will end up with AUSTRALIA BROKE.
ARGUMENT:
As per above -
While there has been initial justification for it, we're now at the stage where we cannot - not maybe not - CANNOT afford to keep spending at current levels.
Former DD2 finance spokesman Infin warned the country of this two months ago, yet the previous PhoenixGreen administration failed to heed the advice of this country eminence. Now we have a practical government in power, this unsavoury duty falls on Prime Minister Ranger Bob to get the ball rolling on a new spending formula in this period of conflict and win-loss ratio of regions.

yep... was just looking at this stuff last night.... Looks like the whole accountability of the previous few Gov's was sorta neglected...

But I'm guessing an daily income of 8-10k AUD (??) in the last couple of months, and probably a little more in the other couple before.
And budgeting 1,2M for a month?
how about save Australia and all citezans move to our only region so we can gain the max possible amount of funding.
The purpose of our spending needs a rethink.
I agree we need to spend within our means.
BUT the sad truth here, is until we come up with ways to gain back and HOLD regions, of COURSE we will continue to whittle away our reserves no matter how much we spend. [tbc]
I am actually funding a number of things this month outside the available gov't reserves (ie, I will contribute to my more whacky ideas like the advocate program). My goal in spending is to come up with ways to build the community.
THIS is the main thing we need to focus on. Until we start rebuilding our community we will always run this risk.
Oh, and voted.
Cut the ADF in d4 and d3...
Increase the Income tax
Increase the spent money in new mpps

I can't propose tax laws. It is not an in game CP function.
Until we have a congress again the point is moot.
N0rdik: Here's the thing. Yes Maj is right re. Budgeted V. What's spent. But bare in mind the money doesn't jump back into Treasury. 'Treasury' is a game-mechanical cash balance machine - i.e. it collects taxes (income, VAT, export etc) and any supply taxes (e.g. food and weapon purchases) and automatically deposits them for gov use. The gov can't transfer to it and can't expend directly from it. It's totally dependent on proposal mechanics of the CP and Congress. i.e. A proposal passes.
*CONT. So the point is, all balances are current and have been progressively spent over a short course. Every month the ADF etc sought new expenditure from Executive and Legislative branches and traditionally the Senate has rubber stamped. When we get our Congress back, both need to do like Obama and Boehner - sit down and work out a new formula. Until then, PM Ranger needs to start cutting back spending in order to have anything in future terms to fight with.

The funds transfers I know it can be done only with congress.
The budget needs to be less about the continue battles we win and lose, and hard dumping for short term gain.
The budget needs to focus more on sustainable population growth and meaning when we do win a battle where are more likely to hold our regions.
This is why MoFA is trying to facilitate some discussion, your work with FACA is important AND why it is important to rethink how we decide to invest in military and MUs etc.

Actually we didn't spend anywhere near 1.2 million this term. I'll be releasing a report soon, we just had transition with the orgs and what not and it delayed us.
You mean 'last term' when you said 'this term'. I get the legislative distinction but be careful not to confuse newer citizens like N0rdik above. PG's term did very little so it comes as no surprise, but it still doesn't alter the average of past terms as described above.
You cant free country without spending some money (no regions=no income), last few months we spent minor amount of money on mercenaries. You cant cut on ADF, or maybe you can coz on my opinion every older player who need ADF wep is just lazy 😃
This is what needs to be clarified. There is a difference between cutting and slowing. Cutting is a wholesale slash of a Budget line item. What most of us are discussing are the areas where we can reduce the rate of spending to get us through until such time as victory is secure. There can be no disagreement we're far from that point. ADF may have to wear it. In the mid-term it's better to save enough to get another month's funding than use it all in the new couple of months.
*CONT. Like the saying goes - only hurts the first time LOL! No seriously - once the Force settles into the new rate and works out a new ration system to meet it, it will be easier from then on. This is the only way to get the most out of it.

I don't see why not - that's a good idea. The inner sanctum were going to re-launch the TAWF last term but never got around to it.
Collection donations leads to people feeling they have more say in the nation. I strongly advise against anything that will lead to the road of elitism. I think that buy the end of the month we should be well and truly back on track and able to revert back to all the wonderful red tape that people love....
Just give us the month to do what needs to be done and we'll reassess then. In the mean time trust in Ranger. 🙂 He, unlike myself, actually has self control.
You "think" - that's the problem. Everyone likes to 'think' things will get better. This is a game governed by mechanics. Unless plans to come out on top of those mechanics can be met, the next CP and his team will say the exact same thing as you, and the one after - etc. Your theory of hope and pray might work well if we can withstand it financially. Problem is - not far to go until we have no more money AT ALL.
As for as many people as possible having a say, I strongly disagree with the suggestion that they shouldn't. What we have now is a system of elitism, whereby only those in the inner sanctum of government is listened to while the citizenry are mere fodder. Evidence of this has been seen the last 24 hours in particular. I'm no longer a betting man, but I'm happy to put up a 10 GOLD bet we won't have a region by election completion to have a congress this month either.
The ranger government is already investigating the scrapping of "symbolic MPP's" which i partially began doing during my CP term.
It's would be a good move and it would save us soem cash money.
