Farewell to Uncle Sam.

Uncle Sam,

I voted for you in the last election, but I couldn't really tell you why. I really didn't think that having a particular president would affect anything to very much, but I'll have to admit right now that I appear to be wrong. The last couple of things you did while in office are definitely not the best ideas, although you did fight very hard for a large amount of secrecy.

Somethings I simply didn't know about until after you had already made the decision and someone mentioned it, like the Mexican 'wall', or when it became painfully obvious, like the Portuguese invasion. Some things were very irritating, like trying to hold the line against Portugal and receiving orders that hindered and never helped. Or never getting any actual weapons to help increase my damage when I fight. Or watching Nonesuch pay for a resistance war out of his own pocket, and then hear about you refusing to pay him back. Some of these things weren't entirely your fault, but you argued for them and defended the ideas when they were up for discussion, and I let it go, thinking I didn't understand the game mechanics enough, because I've only been here a month.

I'm pretty sure I understand most of the ways this game works now, even though I need practice with working them to my favor. I will say this, however. Pulling public funds without discussion and donating them to a private party is an opening for impeachment. If you have as much money as I think you do, you could have funded the gold for the operation without worrying about breaking secrecy, and once the operation was over, ask for a refund from congress.

Even in all of this, Uncle Sam, your last act redeems a little of your sins. Not holding on to Fort Knox and giving it back is a sign you felt you had the best interests of your country at heart, even though you acted a bit childish at times. For that, Thank You.
