Farewell to Nova Scotia and a Farewell to my Friends!

Day 852, 11:33 Published in Canada Canada by Vincent Valentine

"The sun was setting in the West
The birds were singing in every tree
All nature seemed inclined for to rest
But still there was no rest for me."

Though these past few months I have served my country from within the province of Alberta, I am at heart a Nova Scotian. Those of you who remember my terms in Congress will remember a firebrand committment to providing my home province, and indeed all underprivledged provinces with Hospitals and Defense Systems. Now I return for the final time. Over the years I have served as a Congressman, a Speaker of the House, a two clicker, a provincial philanthropist, a freelance historian, and finally as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. This last position I have held for nine months, and though I am proud of the work that my fellow Justices and I have done, it is now time for me to move on.

"I grieve to leave my native land
And I grieve to leave my comrades all
And my parents whom I hold so dear
And the bonnie, bonnie lass that I do adore."

When Jacobi first appointed me as a Justice of the Supreme Court in his first term the court was in shambles. A mere figurehead on the mantlepiece of our government, collecting dust. With the appointment of activist judges to the court, new life was breathed into the institution. Over the past nine months, the court as finally come "Full Term" into a powerful and equal branch of government, providing oversight and relief to the government and the downtrodden. Since my election as Speaker of the House of Commons, I have striven to remain non-partisan, and impartial, which served me well upon the court. I wish to thank my brother justices for their assistance, and their service, as I also wish to thank all those who stood beside me in every party I resided in.

"Farewell to Nova Scotia, you sea-bound coast
Let your mountains dark and dreary be
For when i am far away on the briny ocean tossed
Will you ever heave a sigh and a wish for me?"

Thus it is at this time that I officially announce that I do not seek, nor shall I accept another appointment to the Supreme Court of eCanada, or any institution within eCanada, nor indeed eRepublik. This is my own swan song, so to speak. I have returned to Nova Scotia to be laid to rest, and move on with my life. I thank everyone I've known in this game, particularly my brother Justices, Prime Ministers past and present, my fellow congressmen, my dedicated readers and all of my friends.

"The drums they do beat and the wars to alarm
The captain cries, and we must obey
So farewell, farewell to Nova Scotia's charms
For it's early in the mornin' and i'm far, far away."

For months I strove within SCOTIA Organization to raise funds for Hospitals and Defense Systems for eCanadians, successfully placing multiple infrastructure projects throughout the nation. At the time of my retirement, SCOTIA maintains 200 Gold earmarked for a Hospital Upgrade for Nova Scotia. The congress and the government have made it clear that they do not wish to add or upgrade any hospital at this time, and thus the resources of SCOTIA must go elsewhere. Thus I bequeath SCOTIA Organization to General Coda, and her Support a Soldier program. I know that if anyone can use these resources for the betterment of eCanada, it is Coda.

"I have three brothers and they are at rest
Their arms are crossed upon their breast
But a poor simple sailor jest like me
Must be tossed and driven in the cold black sea."

I wish to thank several people in particular for their support and friendship:

"Farewell to Nova Scotia, you sea-bound coast
Let your mountains dark and dreary be
For when i am far away on the briny ocean tossed
Will you ever heave a sigh and a wish for me?"

George Santayana once sai😛
"A country without a memory is a country of madmen." And to this, I will reply with my last words to you all:

"Study History! Study History!"
