Farewell, Friends [USA]

I've decided that I'd leave once V2 came around, and now that it's here and I've blown all my gold and lost interest, I am out.

Many thanks to everyone I've met here: You are what made me love this game for so long. From the Dignity Brigade, to my friends in the BLF and eSA, to my Airborne fellows, to my fellow Americans, and even my enemies like the Indos and Brazilians. eRepublik is a social game, and I loved it because of its users.

A little bit about my history, for the purposes of documentation:
-I was born just after the Indos (we called them the Japs to piss them off) took over 4 of eSA's nine provinces, Eastern Cape, Northern Cape, Western Cape (a massive fortress at the time, to defend against Argentina in ATLANTIS), and KZN.
-I started writing some articles about how to improve eSA and stuff. I joined up with some cool guys I had met in another game called NationStates. I still play NationStates XD. But yeah, I joined the Black Lion Front.
-The Croatian Occupation began.
-I became very vocal, writing numerous rousing articles and "speeches" to kick out the Croats. I became more experienced and involved with the game, learning more about it, being more political, and so on. I think this was the most exciting time I ever had in eRepublik. It was still Beta.
-Beta was coming to an end, and Zocky was no longer the President of eSA, now it was Sucko. The native Safries retook Congress, with the BLF and FA (Free Africa) parties leading the way.
-V1 came, and we hated it. But the Croats got their own country, and left eSA in a peaceful transition. Instantly the FA and BLF began to compete.
-The FA took over the country and launched a few months of bad leadership, imo. Inactivity and not getting things done were the norm. I was Minister of Defence and/or Chief of the Army, beginning the seeds of our logistics and combat systems.
-I became BLF PP and ran for President in February. I lost by a few votes.
-The next month Jizzie, one of my best friends here, became Pres, with our motto of Acta Non Verba. And Acta we did.
-We began to make diplomatic overtures to the Indos. They were rejected and ignored.
-We fought the Indos, and nearly got PTO'd by them. Gabe Borien became elected, but then got impeached when wizzie_don PTO'd Congress with other Indos. No citizenship then.

A little side note: Once I lost the President race I p. much dropped out of the political and media area of the game, moving around to fight. I fought in numerous wars, from French Toast to... others which I can't remember, moving every day. War was scarce at the time, and the cost of weapons was high. I scraped by. By the time of the battles against Indo I was a Colonel. Back to the story...

I was gonna quit after eSA got destroyed and I'd lost interest in the game, but then I went to America to fight the six invading nations when I learned it was under attack. I served in WW3 proudly and became a field marshal. I fought in Spain, Canada and America, and based myself in Croatia.

I came back to eSA when it was liberated, rather reluctantly since I loved America. The 3rd Republic was not for me; the 2nd was where I belonged, with a tight-knit community of friends, even if we were political enemies. I got disillusioned, joined the US Airborne and became an American citizen. I p. much stayed there until a week ago. For a while, I was in Airborne (YOU GUYS ROCK) and I mapped the battle situation after Mainegreen and guolin retired; but then school started, December ended, and I had no more time. I stuck around in America two-clicking and fighting for six months, until finally V2 came and I decided to quit.

I have played this game for nearly two years, and I have few regrets. I have never cheated, and I look back with fondness at everything that has happened.

Some parting thoughts:
-The players make the game. Without our presence, the game would be no fun at all.
-The admins hurt the game by having poor customer support, poor rule-enforcement, and obvious attempts to get us to buy gold.
-Cheating ruins the game. While it may serve goals it is the fun of competing against other players fairly that makes this game so addictive.

Once again, thank you all.

I sign off for the final time.

Farewell!

-Brendan E Austerion

P.S. People may have wondered what the E in my name stood for. Brendan is my real-life first name. E is for Eridite, another online alias I have. And Austerion is too. I combined all these together, and Brendan E Austerion was born on the 16 of August 2008. He dies on the 27th of July 2010.
P.P.S. I have donated all my currency to the US CBO, and all my stuff and gold to Jizzie McGuire.
P.P.P.S. I die in my true political party, the Black Lion Front. My character will die in the same, beautiful province where I was eBorn and where I served as Congressman for five terms, North-West Province.
P.P.P.P.S. TO ALL PLAYERS FROM ALL ALLIANCES: It has been fun playing with you. Good luck to you all, here and in RL!

BYE! 🙂

If you want to contact me, PM me over the next few days. I'll still be on the Dignity Brigade forums, and I might give you my MSN address.
