Failed attacks, prevented PTO:s and broken game mechanics jazz up day 897.

As the smoke from the double attack on Central Hungary disappears, day 897 unfolds with interesting events around the World left unnoticed as the battles deciding Hungary’s fate were fought. The massive battles fought by Eden and Phoenix shadowed the joyful news coming from Australia, as Administration team gave them justice and removed over 100 illicit multiaccounts, saving Australia from PTO threat. Similar news come from Bosnia, an Eden nation ruled by Serbians and forced to attack their allies and neighbours by the Serbian power block. However the United States are still lacking the option to declare war on Serbia, and yesterdays Phoenix victories against Eden was accompanied by a mysterious pandemic spreading throughout the World via newspapers.

Phoenix wins the decisive battles of Central Hungary, All hail Lelouch-pandemic spreads throughout the world.

Yesterday on day 896, World was gearing up to fight in the first attack initiated by Eden on that day towards the Hungarian capital and population center, Central Hungary.
As always before decisive battles, the amount of players online was elevated when soldiers begin to receive their gears, ordinary citizens watch closely the battle as it might seal their fate as a nation, and strategists in both camps make last minute tactics and count the damage available.
About 30 minutes before the end of the battle for Central Hungary, a mysterious pandemic begun to spread. The symptoms consisted from launching uncontrollable articles paying tribute to Lelouch, and the disease spread quickly. Opening these articles caused the reader get infected instantly and, if he had a newspaper, spread the disease. Out of irresistible curiosity, people opened the articles and unintentionally spread it, and it took only 10 minutes before hundreds if not thousands of articles were written and they filled the medias of every country.

The World Health Organization residing in Singapore, curiously operated from the same building where the most famous terrorist organization, Permaban, also resides, took decisive means and eradicated the disease from the face of earth, repairing any possible harm done by it.

The losses in Central Hungary effectively end the Eden effort to invade the nation completely. Originally it was planned that USA and Eden attack Hungary and Serbian held Liaoning at the same time, but border bug prevented USA from declaring a war. Eden decided to trust their superiority and attacked Hungary anyway without the possibility to distract Serbia.
There is always a brief period after presidential elections when nations regroup and transit power. It is likely that Eden will not try again in a few days, they might even revaluate their strategies and try to find some distraction for major Phoenix powers. This might be done by China attacking Serbia, or Spain attacking Brazil. The heavy usage of Gold must be taken in to account as well. Three failed attacks on C. Hungary, costing over 2000G each and two failed tank attacks are draining Eden’s pockets. This excellent article written in Serbian lists all attacks initiated by Eden during the past 10 days and comes with a conclusion that they combined with several tanking operations have cost Eden nearly 100,000 Gold in ten days.

Hungary is likely to attack the Croatian-held regions one at a time to free their country in the next days. They are currently throwing Poland out of Western Transdanubia. Bulgaria is attacking Romania and aims to hold the initiative indefinitely, but if they forgot to do it or Romania flips the initiative with scorched land-tactic, Eden might eat them for snack while they regroup and revaluate their strategies.

Admin bails Australia from PTO, Eden ATO seems to succeed in Bosnia.

Politically taking over a country, a devious tactic first used by Romania is probably the most controversial tactic in eRepublik and often labelled cowardly. During pre-citizenship, the usage of this tactic was rampant, as both alliances had hundreds of soldiers ready to either participate or counter a PTO. Several countries fell prey to PTO, including Croatia, Serbia, Indonesia, South Africa and many more.
After Admins implemented citizenship, the usage of PTO hasn’t disappeared but has severely been reduced. Some PTO😒 are made with legal means, like PTO:ing Belgium and Peru. It must be noted though that PTO:ing is a delicate issue, and it easily spurs accusations. These two examples however are usually recognized legal.
Then, some nations aren’t afraid to use illicit means to execute a PTO. The Administration Team has been particularly active in fighting off these efforts done by prohibited means, and they deserve our thanks for it.

An illicit PTO consists of wide usage of multiaccounts, and this happened in Australia also. Indonesian sources claimed that they have over 600 legal accounts with Australian citizenship, but this number however is exaggerated. A party can’t set a candidate for the presidential elections if they are not top-5, and Indonesian multis were created in Australia to raise their party to the ballots. A well-known Indonesian, sandygee, was the candidate, and Aussies were bracing for impact and fight Indonesia in the ballots. The Administration team however noted public pleads to check the situation, and after they were proven correct, Admin cleared the party from multis, dropping it below top-5 and successfully removing sandygee from ballots.

In Bosnia, a nation “suffering” from Serbian PTO for many months, Eden is showing success as the Eden-supported candidate is leading with over 200 votes. The reason I put the word suffering between speech marks is that the situation in Bosnia differs from an ordinary PTO. IRL, Bosnia has a large Serbian-minded population, and some of them have found their way to eRepublik as well. Bosnia is split between Eden-, and Croatian-minded people and Serbian-minded citizens accompanied by Serbian voting aid. Personally I think Bosnians are great allies and I’m glad they are in Eden, I was part of an ATO once in there, and I hope the majority of true Bosnian people will have the power to decide, which Alliance they want to belong to.

Serbia controlled Bosnia rather peacefully for nearly two months, but started to show hostile intentions as they used their congressional majority to vote a MPP between Hungary and Bosnia. This triggered war between Bosnia and Croatia, and currently Bosnia is attacking them, which effectively removed all Eden MPP😒 from their list.


Bosnian congress members, having only a slight minority often engage Serbian representatives in to heated arguments.

All in all the day before Presidential Elections was good for both alliances as Australia was saved from PTO and Hungary claimed initiative against Croatia and Poland. There is probably a short calm period after the elections before both Alliances take a crash course and try to kill each other with full force again. If the bug preventing United States is fixed, the new President might take a kick start on his term and attack Liaoning. If the elections in Bosnia are won as well, Croatia is freed from block and can attack Hungary at the same time. Or perhaps Phoenix will take the war to Croatia and launches a counterattack, who knows.
