Exclusive Interview with Jacobi

Exclusive Interview with Jacobi!

I had the huge thrill of sitting down and discussing with Presidential hopeful, Jacobi. We talked about his plans for the election, his ideas to separate the Executive branch into two roles and a multitude of other things!

Citizen HEM: Hey Jacobi, thanks so much for being with us at the Times Dispatch today.

Jacobi: Very glad to be here

Citizen HEM: I feel like we should start with the obvious, why do you feel the time is ripe for another Presidential bid?

Jacobi: I think the direction of the country is drifting. We need someone we can trust as President, we need someone with proven experience, and we need someone whose going to stick around when the going gets tough. I don't think that at the beginning of V2 is the best time for someone to be a "training wheel" President. That and I'm tired of being an armchair quarterback. For me, its time to get in the game!

Citizen HEM: You have recently announced that you would not serve as Prime Minister (ie. the leader of the domestic agenda). How do you envision your relationship with whomever holds the confidence of Congress? Do you plan to nominate someone?'

Jacobi: I am nominating Sir DeLaShaunRon Smith, who I believe will both have the capacity to enact meaningful domestic reforms and hold the confidence of Congress. Ultimately, in this arrangement, I will have the power to appoint and dismiss the Prime Minister and accountability flows up and not down. But I think that, especially with Shaun, it will give me a chance to focus on our foreign relations without worrying about our domestics.

Citizen HEM: While there are obvious benefits to this system, what's your plan to prevent the government from drifting? How will you and PM coordinate agendas so that we have one sole government pursuing strong objectives, and not two leaders allowing the course to slow?

Jacobi: The primary way to prevent is consistant communication, making sure that citizens, congress, and the executive are all on the same page. When you take a look at my six terms in office, I averaged about an article every 2 days so I am quite happy to make sure that people are aware of what's going on.

Everything, ultimately, comes down to making sure that Ministers, Prime or otherwise, are held accountable. We have to make sure that people who are underperforming know what the expectations are in their office. I'm not sure that that has been consistently communicated in any government so it will be a focus of both myself and the Prime Minister to do so.

In maintaining communications and delivering expectations, coordination will necessarily follow. The job of the President will be to manage, and that's something I'm wholeheartedly ready to do.

Citizen HEM: Exciting stuff. Going forward, do you think this separation should be initiated via Constitutional amendment, and do you plan to seek such a change during your time in office?

Jacobi: Well I definitely think it should be considered in the V2 constitutional draft. Honestly though I expect it will take some evidence that the system works better than what we had before in order for any resistance to the change to collapse.

Evidence that, over the month of August, I'll be happy to provide 😉

Citizen HEM: How confident are you about the upcoming campaign, and what political groups are you reaching out to for support?

Jacobi: I'm very confident. I think I have the best message and the best credentials in this campaign and I think the more people this message reaches the better my chances become. I'm reaching out to most political groups, because as a proven leader I can speak to many of the concerns and aspirations people have about the Canadian government. I can think of groups, that because of political dynamics, I'll be unable to secure, but I'm going to work for every nomination.

Citizen HEM: Moving forward, do you have a signature issue that you believe is critical to address in Canada at the moment?

Jacobi: I think the most critical issue at the moment is indeed the titanium rental. We have a choice here to make a conscious effort to become a great country, or we bow to outside pressure and remain mediocre. No country in our situation would benefit from rental, and it is not a coincidence that the loudest voices for rental are coming from outside this country. If we rent, we shoot ourselves in the foot for a pathetic amount of gold.

Citizen HEM: If in 75 words or less, you could try to sum up why you should serve as the next President, what would they be?

Jacobi: We need an experienced leader, a leader we can trust, and a leader who has the proven ability to get things done. Of all the candidates in the race, I am the only one with a track record of positive results and the only one who can speak with confidence on what needs to be done take this country from good to great.*

Citizen HEM: Certainly a bold agenda! Thank so much for your time Jacobi, and glad to have you here!

Jacobi: You're very welcome 🙂
