Hello, dear readers!
As I have always said, I enjoy looking at the eWorld map a lot. I simply love scrolling it to different regions, sometimes clicking on the links in order to learn more about countries and peoples, comparing them to Real Life. Whilst doing this, you surely spot some things, which I would be happy to share with you in this article.
We all know that resources are of great importance to every single country, especially to those with high population, willing to make themselves stronger and richer. In-game resources tend to copy their equivalents from Real Life (often unsuccessfully), both in location and in type (aluminium, grain, etc.). Normally, some of them are rarer than others in specific regions. For example, in Europe, oil, rubber and saltpetre are supposed to be those valuable, but uncommon materials.
Do you know what happens if you have something that everybody wants and that you cannot protect? You lose it. When it is in your land, immovable, you lose the land as well. Then you curse that thing, wanted by all and taken from you...
Now let's take a look of those resources and their legitimate owners, doomed to be colonies of the aggressors.
Oil
Found in:
~Estonia
~Romania
~the United Kingdom
Those countries are the strong guys. They either have the power to protect their territory and interests, or a simply on the "right" side (TWO).
~Albania - taken by Serbia
~Italy - taken by Slovenia and Serbia
~Norway - taken by Slovakia and Lithuania
~the Netherlands - taken by Poland
~Russia - taken by Hungary (with the help of Ukraine)
Those countries are weak or simply on the "wrong" side (former EDEN/CoT/Asgard/neutral). That is why they are partly or entirely taken over by other strong guys. Some of the aggressors are even weaker than their "hosts", but with the help of TWO everything is possible...
Rubber
Found in:
~France - taken by Poland and Serbia
I am pretty sure that the French would gladly remove the Rubber from their land, because it has turned them into a pray for Poland and Serbia for a long time. Unfortunately, the admins would not allow it (yet). By the way, I am curious why they decided that natural rubber is being produced in Europe?!
Saltpetre
Found in:
~Spain
~Poland
Those are definitely the big ones. No one wishes to mess with them and that is why they still keep the bonuses of their original territory.
~Ukraine - taken by Hungary
~Italy - taken by Serbia
Both countries are far from being the weakest, but the priceless resource makes a part of them a colony. Ukraine is not in a bad condition, indeed, due to its strong relation to TWO, but its Saltpetre region would perhaps stay Hungarian in the near future too.
I hope my article made you think of how deadly your natural wealth could be. In my opinion all free states of the eWorld should focus on freeing those who have suffered for ages under the bondage of greedy enemies, such as Serbia, Poland or Hungary. I support with all my hearth the liberation of those, who are doomed because of one simple admin's decision. Norway, my country, has the same faith. To all who share our destiny I would say: Don't give up, my friends, our time is still to come!

Also, since the big countries need a trade route to these strategic regions, some countries are basically f*cked up for good in the game.

I was thinking of adding this aspect to the article, but it was going to take even more place to explain it, so thanks for mentioning it! I suppose the countries used as a route curse those resources even more, since they are not even theirs!
Yeah make it moar interesting give only poland Oil and only serbia Rubber. Then we Can see a fight with huge damage that never ends.

That is not a bad idea, or making some bonus more common and some more rare. Lets say that 100% of all countries has either Iron or Alumni. Then distribute Two saltpeter mines, Two rubber and Two oil regions around randomly in the world. And restock this every 6 months or so.
Remove Traderoutes again and let the big countries fight over the rare bonuses. How much wouldn't I love a Serbia-Poland war while the rest of the world can compete on 0-40% bonuses.
There is no such thing as game balance in eRepublik. Strong countries become stronger and weak countries weaker. Active players moves from weak countries thus making them even weaker to strong countries thus making them even stronger.
You simply can't fight against the game mechanics and the admin have been perfectly alright with having plenty of literally dead countries for years now.
The missions lately have also all been in favour of big countries, giving 100 000 gold to Serbia in a competition only Serbia could win for example. Imagine if Finland would have been given 100 000 gold instead, players would run to Finland from countries like Poland, Serbia and so on and we might would have seen things a tiny bit more balanced. But no.. not a chance, the strong gets stronger and the weak gets weaker.
The bad thing is that the admins do nothing to make the game better, they are only enjoying the pile of gold spent from some players to keep their country existing against stronger enemies...
players from loland and servia coming to finland? that would be bad. Sure they would be in finland for a while but that could easily equal large PTO, also what hinders them from still fighting for Servland?

Good one. The part about what countries should get our solidarity is unnecessarily narrowed to few and connected to their resources. Resources are not always the reason or only reason for occupation of a country as geopolitics includes more factors then only resources.
I think any country who's legitim RL territory is taken by an aggressor should get sympathy and solidarity from progressive forces in eWorld. The only ecountry I can see with not legitim area on the map is eIsrail which contains also occupied areas of Palestinian state.

ePalestine doesn't exist yet in our eworld and their land areas according to U.N. partition plan should be whitecolored and not accessible to anyone.
I support you about this! Btw the same happens to Kosovo and Serbia and if Kosovo was a free country the eSerbs would be much less than now!

Very informative article, I just started this game and I am playing every day with the hope to liberate my country.But after I read this article I am hopeless.Did I understood the article correctly???
I suppose not. What I mean is that your condition is because of your resources and not because of your weakness or lack of allies. And as I wrote at the end - our time will come too! We will get free perhaps sooner as we expect, so do not lose courage!
Reason does not matter, if the strong gets stronger and the weak gets weaker just changes can help us.

Then you have much more to demand from the admins. The weak should unite, that's their chance! And btw the strong are spliting one from another, they cannot share the power to control. That is their weakness and it will simply kill them in the future.

Your English is great, don't worry, I know people from eRepublik, who cannot say a word but are still using the language despite being at a very low level... It is sad when they think of themselve as of prominent due to their RL nationality - a rich western country, but are far more stupid than a pupil from the Balcans or Asia, who they consider to be a retard.
Btw - I am Bulgarian, so we are almost neighbours in RL 😉

Nice article, but not true in all cases. For example Slovakia. We don´t have any region of Norway with oil and even if we had, we wouldn´t have anything from it, because it isn´t connected to our capital. Another example is still Norway, during now ended occupation of its northern territories by Belarus.
Sometimes countries don´t attack because of bonuses, but, for example, for fun(because this game is almost dead) and some excitment.
