eRepublik - Why I'm Probably Failing Philosophy

Day 1,955, 04:32 Published in Canada Canada by David Eastcorner

Well, I'm stuck on my last-minute philosophy essay. This is a direct result of me being behind on my archaeology essay, which was directly related to me being behind on my history essay.

I can blame everything on eRep, and I don't regret it at all.

eRepublik has been a part of my life, on and off, since I was 14 years old in real life. I fondly recall signing up for the Beta many years ago, and the game has come a long way since (that includes the money-grubbing devs, they used to be quite tame).

This game takes a real commitment if you wish to get good at it though, as it requires constant public attention if you wish to gain any real status within your eNation. As a result, I'm constantly on IRC, and try to talk to people as much as possible. If I get even a few hours behind, I fall completely out of the loop. For example, I didn't even notice when we lost Quebec yesterday, until I accidentally fought for Latvia instead of Sweden.

The fact that the game takes constant monitoring in order to become important is one of the small downsides to it. While I enjoy eCanada, and the people who inhabit it, I don't wish to spend all day here. I have a life IRL, which includes barbecues, game nights with friends, and even philosophy essays. The fact is, the game moves fast, and in order to stay on top of things, you have to make sacrifices.

Essentially, this boils down to the fact that if I get a low mark on this essay, I am directly placing the blame on Uncle Buck. 😉 I just can't stay away from that sexy beast.

Just how CAN you take your eyes off his magnificence?

So thank you eCanada, for reminding me why I love this game so much. Because you keep me away from all of my essays, schoolwork, and other important real life stuff.

Good night all. Don't let them conquer Ontario while I write. 😉
