eRep Digital Signatures
Chamrajnagar
I'm getting a bit tired of supposedly hacked accounts and potentially false information. I'm going to look in to creating a simple Digital Signature (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_signature) scheme for erep. Something along the lines of you register for the program, I give you a private key and host a public key. When you write an article you input the article text and private key and get a signature block back. The advantages of this are both authentication and non-repudiation. However, if I were to investigate this...who would be interested? (No point doing it if no one would ever use it)

I would use a feature like this.
I don't really understand what you just said, but if it was something I could use easily, I would
I have no idea what your talking about, you lost me at false information
are people sad enough to hack erepublik
@joshta ...people claim to have been hacked. Whether this is true, or merely an excuse to allow them to behave poorly, tough to say.
Logs are 100% true. This is exactly why I don't drink very often while playing erep. I mess up badly. Me saying in shouts that I was hacked was still me drunk but knowing i messed up very badly.
This should clear up the issue.

Can you give us an example of what this would actually look like, or how it would specifically be used, for those of us who don't understand the techno-speak?
I'm totally interested in this
Has anyone that has claimed to be hacked accually been hacked?
The only legit time, or as close as, was when MG got Frams account but that was because he gave it to him to babysit.
Other than that im betting people use it as a excuse for stupid or illegal behavior
"im betting people use it as a excuse for stupid or illegal behavior"
x2
But... what happen if the person store his private key on his personnal messages...
Oh! Ho!
awesome idea
This is a great idea.
A while back when I was CP we were in the midst of a series of hacking incidents causing illegal impeachments etc. At that time I wrote out to my cabinet and each day we assigned a numeric code that had to be placed in any government article for the day. Once done, an existing member of cabinet would comment in the article and "authenticate" the article by verifying the daily code was correct.
It worked well on a small scale and I believe it would work well now. Great idea Cham!
Yes, yes, YES!
I would support you 110% on this initiative!
Just don't give email you use for login and don't save password in browser and you'll be fine.
