eRep CEO Caught BSing in RL Media: The Admins Don't Want You To Know!
saltydog
YOU CANNOT STOP US.
HERE IS THE TRUTH AGAIN.
READ THIS: eRepublik releases major relaunch to increase gamer power and retention (TechCrunch)
This is it. This is our chance as a community to force the admins to fix all the bugs and broken parts of this game.
The CEO and Founder of eRepublik, Alexis Bonte, is looking for further venture capital funding to keep the lights on. Player retention is a huge problem for eRep, as is customer service. So what does Bonte have to say in the article?
Let's do some factchecking.
"1.8 million registered users"
FALSE
Stop misrepresenting your userbase to score money. eRep could have 5 billion registered users - doesn't change the fact that only 10% are active, ongoing players.
"we polled over 14,000 users" before V2
O RLY?
Last time I checked, eRep has a policy of not bothering to reply to "Messages to Administrators" on your forums. If anything, the admins of eRep are known for NOT listening/responding to their clients - US!!!
"90,000 players can simultaneously fight in battle"
FALSE
Not so far - the admins have been lucky to keep the battle engine running at all. And this is supposed to be the finished product after Beta?
“there is a lot browser games can learn from Facebook games and vice – versa"
CORRECT!
LIKE MAKING SURE YOUR GAMES ACTUALLY WORK AS INTENDED! The reason games on Facebook actually make money is because they don't break - they're only as complex as they need to be.
Okay. Here's what I want you all to do:
1. Forward this article around - we need to get the word out.
2. Write a constructive comment on the TechCrunch article
The more truth we give to the real world, the more Alexis Bonte will get spanked in public, in full view of the watching media. CEO's don't like to be spanked - in fact getting caught with your pants down in public is the best time to make concessions.
Since no one listens to our tickets, to our open letters, to our forum posts, the only thing we have left is coercion by embarrassment. That's what you've left us, and that's what you'll get. He's already responding to previous comments, and so has the journalist who wrote the article.
It's working! The original article is the most commented on TechCrunch today.
200 comments so far! - that's more than QUADRUPLE the amount when we started!
KEEP THE CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM COMING!
Any other ideas?

Stop it, Bonte!
P.S. Admins, banning me will only make me a martyr. Don't add to the fire.

Bonte is full of s**t.
We have to get the word out!
Article: "P.S. Admins, banning me will only make me a martyr. Don't add to the fire."
Didn't you just add to the fire by reposting this entire article?
LOL, I saw it earlier too - pretty disappointing, I kind of hoped these guys were maybe just naive or misguided
1.8 million users?
Extensively polled the user base about V2?
90,000 can fight on a battlefield simultaneously?
Liar.
The fires of TRUTH shall burn brightly Edeid4
LOLWUT
I read the article!

those reality tunnels... gotta luv 'em.
I could care less
*Hands Saltydog the shirt that says: I criticized Alexis Bonte and all I got was this lousy shirt*
So you mean I shouldn't expect a response to my ticket about my skills not migrating? It only been like....2 weeks....
Sh. Magee
My favourite part is how in their promo video shit like the booster buttons, you know...work.
p.s. petition the admins to bring back more than "Uptown/downtown" in the My Places menu!
Maybe it will take doing this on every major press release to get them D-bags to actually listen to us.
I'll just repost my comment from the other article here as this one seems to be more active then the other.
Actually, your first point (1.8 million registered users) is not mis-leading. He was right to say 1.8 'registered' users, hence registered. That's not lying, and every single website out there uses the registered number to tell how many users are on their site. Facebook has recently said it passed the 500 million registered user mark, but everyone knows only a quarter of those are 'active' users.
It would have been mis-leading had he said, eRepublik has 1.8 million 'active' users... That statement would have been a lie. But saying 1.8 million registered, is perfectly legit, as everyone does that.
Also your second one 'we polled over 14,000 users' is true. The admins have released at least 2 polls asking the users how they feel about the game. They released a poll before V2, and I remember they published an article with the details, and results of that poll. Alot of the changes we have now are from the poll... But I agree they didn't listen closly to what people wanted.
I'm not defending the admin, lord knows I want to see this game get better then it is, but you need to have solid arguments.
Voted!
I hear ya emilio. I think the point of this is 1) to point out gap between how Bonte describes eRep and how it actually is from the clients' perspective, and 2) to collectively try and get heard in public, since there is a palpable feeling of not being listened to.
Canada sucks.
Saltydog - Yea, it's understandable that you need to do what you need to do in order to get the message out, and get admin to listen. Hopefully this article will at least get the admins to think about the issues.
You always need a third party who is not affiliated with either side to give a true opinion of how something really is.
Cheers.
man you sure are salty
and correct

true story
delicious
oookkk why rage on a game? they can decide to make it bad or good. o.o
Indeed Crucifix, a company can decide to make a good or bad product.
It therefore follows that the customers - the players, us - can decide to react negatively to a poor quality product.
"120 million visits"
Probably they counted the DDOS attacks lol.
I enjoy how he packed the comments with friends saying the game is ducky - lol.
I hope everyone who read the article also added a comment to make sure the public gets a more realistic view of the game. Please don't troll it - that discounts your comments. But giving good examples of the issues is an avenue for creating honest reporting.
Thanks for posting this, salty.
I read this right after reset. I can't believe how absolutely BLATANT the lies were. Even the comments section of how approving V2 is by these random "players" were so absolutely fake...
It just looked bad.
Admin, fix your game. The CURRENT citizens of eRepublik demand it. You're not going to get good publicity no matter HOW many times you spread your lies on the media toast until you start shaping things up.
Admins dun goofed!
let's get this up to international!
I think they stopped adding comments to the main article.
WHY ISN'T THIS ARTICLE SPREADING LIKE HERPES!?
Voted with this account and my org.
lolz
A bold move, saltydog. Bold indeed.
I give this article a Penguin out of a Penguin
and bring the v1 back!!!
YES
I assumed the person writing for TechCrunch did not do proper fact-checking or revision when I read the "Since November 2010" part. Doesn't say much for TechCrunch...maybe we should take this to PC Magazine.
oh, and I'll always remember you saltydog *sniff*
At least they have nice curtains in their new office \o/
