eNorway Tax Holiday
RussK
Hello fellow eNorwegians. I am writing to inform you of a campaign to help stimulate the economy and ease the cost of living in our country. To accomplish this, I will soon propose to congress a National Tax Holiday on food. This will be a temporary relief, of 0% taxation, lasting one day from the current, overbearing tax burden on foo
😛3% VAT, 50% import, 15% income. After the 24hour period, the taxation on food will be returned; although, hopefully, my fellow congressmen will be willing to return it to a lower level. This proposition, if passed, has benefits for all citizens.
To illustrate, taking current prices (time of writing), for the lowest q4 food, a citizen would save approximately 1.40 NOK on non-imported food; the amount saved on imported food would be even more substantial, ~4.00NOK. Not only will every citizen be able to keep a nice portion of their earned money, but newer citizens of eNorway will be able to buy higher quality food for cheaper. Additionally, the money saved can go towards self improvement and national defense. Each NOK kept can be applied toward future food costs, weapons, wages and other improvements.
However, while the benefits of this tax holiday are obvious, it's going to take a lot of support from the citizens of the country to get the law passed. Therefore, to help you show my fellow congressmen that it is time to pass this law, I've complied a list of all the congressional representatives of eNorway for you to express your support. Send them a message and let them know that you support the National Tax Holiday.
For the Future,
Kapitalist Partiet Member,
Congressman, RussK

I don't really see the point of this. I can agree upon a discussion about adjusting the taxes in general, but this has no long term effects. It will make people buy lots of food for one day, and then leave the companies with a full market for the next days. It could potentially ruin the flow of the market, if done once each month, which would make planning and organizing even harder, since it will be harder to calculate income from sales.
Toots:
The point has been listed already: to allow people to keep more of their money. I see that is not listed as one of your concerns, for whatever reason. That's why this law will be proposed, because with such high taxes on food, obviously no one gives a damn about how much more expensive the cost of wellness has become. As long as one person is able to easily by higher quality food, that's a good enough reason for me; it should be for you as well.
Lastly, there's no way that having people buy lots of food from a company is in anyway harmful to the company. However, a stimulation of the food market is only a secondary goal for this Tax Holiday.
What is this pure bullshit? Have you no clue what so ever on how things work? High tax on food? You know that the IMPORT tax was risen due to the influence of foreign companies ruining the Norwegian market, which resulted in that wages for workers were cut drastically? Skill 7-wages went down from around 40 NOK to as low as 25 NOK. That's 15 NOK or nearly 40% reduction. Food prices for Q4-food sank from 9 NOK to 5 NOK. So, the average worker actually lost money every day on the "cheap" food.
The import tax is highly necessary to maintain stable prices and wages for workers. In fact, after the import taxes was increased, Delica has once again been able to increase wages for their workers after the cuts we had to implement. And more increases coming soon, which more than enough will account for the slightly increased (normalization) of food prices.
The only tax that the consumers directly notice is the VAT, which adds to the price. The income tax is something the workers notice from their salaries, and that is the same for other industries. Also, income tax comes into effect when companies cash out profits.
Let me guess, you are directly or indirectly associated with a big company who has lots of NOK or GOLD that you want over to your private account? So that's why you wanna get rid of income tax, to exploit the system?
This again, fellow friends in erepublik, is a purely egoistic thought from a person who only want to milk profits.
Again, for your info: Income tax is NOT added to the price. By reducing income tax you will not see any other effect than:
Workers in food companies will get no tax on their salaries.
Workers in other companies will have exactly the same food prices.
By removing VAT, you will see a reduction from 7.99 to 7.76 NOK on Q4-food.
This is so silly I want to cry.
Delica: You've been addressed elsewhere. The citizens of eNorway shouldn't have to pay higher food prices because of crony, protectionist tax policies, just to keep your company alive. I'm not affiliated with any food companies; you are the one that owns and operates one. Obviously you are concerned that your buddies in government won't be able to protect your company, at the expense of the citizens wallet; however, we are just talking about a one day event. I'm not surprised by your reaction though; "big business" reacts the same way in the real world when they can no longer compete.
Avtrekkeren: I do understand that. I also understand that a 0% tax holiday is impossible in this game; the only tax that can be put to 0% is the VAT. You should be crying for the workers, when you demand that they pay 15%. What is silly is the knee jerk reactions from this proposal. The interests of those against it can be deduced from the comments and news articles poste😛 protection of business at the expense of cheaper food.
Delica = Avtrekkeren.
