I want to wish you good luck with your campaign, however I have deep concerns about you running for president. You have been away for so long and things have changed a lot inside and outside our country. Wouldn't it be better if you took a month to show that you are actually active again? How can our people even trust that you will stay active at all? I think it is great to see old citizens return, but I also think that we should be careful with this.

Fully agreed. I was typing the same kind of comment but that became to long and it would naturally being commented away by him and the group he belongs to when posted by me as butt-hurt as we have no friendly history....
Most players don't even know him and the nerve to come back, be active one day and state you will solve it all? Well it underlines the arrogance of him and some of his friends. That one thing is certain.

Sure, but most off all; we need people that deliver stuff in game. Visible to all. Not only on IRC (according to themselves) or on forum. The combination would work best. We don't need players that do politics only.

Auggustus Welcome back,if you are serious bout coming back, how about you first come back to the community, first learn about the current community, and show them you can be trusted cause right now, you proofed the last years you cant stay active, and stealing the country treasury and i know, was long long time ago.. well that stuff sticks.

Years of topics, either refereeing how he left was inactive or part of stealing this countries treasury.

AFAIK he never stole the treasury but my memory might be failing me though please do proof me wrong if I am incorrect. Also Tonie also stole the treasury in the past didn't he? Besides that remember Tonie he stole from eNL and is now a well respected member. That being said, I don't think Augustus should run for CP seeing just returning and his history if going inactive

AFAIK the matter about NoTie was never resolved/proven. Only thing that happened was he took the blame as he was CP and therefore responsible. At least 2 or 3 other players that I know off however had the possibility to lay the hand on the treasure as well. I'd have to dig in my personal archive to check exactly as I delved into it when I was MoF. One thing I know for sure though; I never saw any suspicious actions from Notie over the past years. What I did witness is him using RL money to aid eNL. I'm 90% sure he did not steal the treasure back then but was a victim mainly. And we had bigger financial setbacks soon after the robbery that were officially "approved" that we're still suffering from to a certain extent.

Remind yourself as i said, just search hes name on the forum and watch what all turns out(i can't be 100% sure he stole or not i just go by on long period of what forum says and people from those days). Tonie got years of crap for it, and toke it. He proofed hem self to at least be worthy of trust in those positions, and even got respect back from the community.
But yes the 2 main reasons not to vote that can be 100% confirmed, is 1 hes experience from years ago don't count towards much, second hes track record of coming back to take a political position and than leave are constant over the last 3 years.

The robbery you were referring to was in a time when ironically Auggustus had access to all orgs, as well as others like Garmr and Luuklag. Not to mention the passwords were almost in the open on gdoc. Strange I do remember the details, while you don't to the point of wrongly pointing fingers. But the past is the past, no point in digging up affairs almost 3-4 (!) years ago which have hardly any relevance this day.

Auggustus never stole the treasury, what all those forum posts are referring too are bad financial policies which cost us millions of cc if I'm correct. While not very 'competent', there's nothing amoral or evil about that.

The situations as i remember was this, Notie was CP, and i logged on tot he gov orgs and saw that the money was gone. It turned out after much investigation that the polish people had hacked gov orgs, as we were not the only country affected by this.

As for the money market. We did lose alot (as did I and MANY other players),, because of a change in the way currency was done in game going to v2.0. It was impossible to counter. In any case i did state what had happened and was open to it. I did not steal anything. Thats just not me.

I think people are not referring to that Auggustus. I think they refer to the fact you claim to have bought gold for cc for around 2600cc per piece of gold when being MOF. 2600 representing the gold value at the time with the argument gold had risen a lot and would rise further and we would become rich due to that. Which in itself is the most idiotic thought one can have on that kind off stuff. Values will always have a rebound after a steep rise. Which it had; Gold dropped ever since until 160cc and more recently is rising again to around 400-450 lately. For your plan to work you should have bought at 160...

More importantly however; I personally don't think you did as due to game mechanisms you could also buy gold for 1.000cc a piece. Something you knew so why would you buy gold for 2.600cc for NL? I think you did buy for 1.000cc on the MM and kept the other cc from NL yourself. I believe it was around 3mil cc that was transferred leading to around 1150 gold bought and therefore around 1,85 mil cc put in your own pocket and most likely the ones of Garmr as well as the two off you proposed the transaction and pushed it through congress...

And given this suspicious actions the jump towards the robbery under NoTie is easily made. Twice a smoking gun in the vicinity at the same player(s) is more than a coincidence wouldn't you say?

If you return, do us a favor and try to learn about what has changed since you was away and don't immediately run for presidency, Tonie tried this, it did backlash at him in some ways as well.

Its nice to see that there is still acynical group of characters in the eNL. Thats the underlying problem.

As for vCP. I think that was a joke by somebody at the time, because I never was even asked about the position. So its hard to be at fault for something i was never a part of.

As for politics in the eNL, i have 10 days to understand what is going on in the community. In my opinion, as an experienced politician in the eNL, it will be easy to determine from previous conversations, whos who, what positions they hold.

As i can see for example, weekstrom, has a fond remembrance of me, and will work to offer as many suggestions as possible. However seeing that as a community elder, he still has not ever been CP. whats been stopping you? You have the experience. why not unifty the country? My guess its never been your priority, or you feel that you are not leadership material. In any case i can respect that. knowing your own strengths and weaknesses help, and i am not saying that in any offensive way. You serve the way you think you can do the most good. Which you have done.

In the last two years after my departure from the eNL, I have been in leadership positions of many different communities. In some of them there was a toxicity, that disappeared when people have a focused goal. Talking to people, understanding things from their standpoint, asking what they want helps. Listening is and not having judgments and being open minded is needed. The best leaders have always been those who give autonomy to those around them, and make decisions based on their advice.

The eNL is an active community, however the problem has always been people taking opinions they have had of someone and never letting go of that. They see someone as an enemy, and not seeing that the other side might have a valid point.

It ain't that Auggy. Its the simple fact you think you can solve matters that easy. The example here is clear as well; Having 10 days wont even bring you close to knowing whats going on. Sure, you would have a view based on intel from those close-by. But that's not the same as knowing what's going on. That's not only a problem you're having. It's something several players have. Those are the ones I always refer to as forum politicians. They have no connection in the field. Only with forum and IRC to a certain extent.

As for your question; Lacking the time to do it right is the reason. As CP you should be able to have lengthy communications at several times during the day but mainly in the evening. I always had time to look often for short periods (which fits being Commander or MoF and working the MM), but never really a sure lengthy period I could plan for a game during the evening and the meetings needed. So its simple for me given that circumstances; I can't do it to the full fitting my standards so I won't.

With one exception as some might recall perhaps; I ran once, but for totally other reasons setting aside that clear lack in time to be on for hours in the evening.

This has been my approach the past two months as CP, I set goals and want my ministers to fill in the how and what. I've experienced situations where hardheaded and oponionated people were unwillingly to compromise. Fortunately in all these situations they and one thing in common, trust(in this case in me). We managed to work things out and everyone was happy. My point this is that this part of your comment to this article is something I find great work ethics.

Being able to work with people in that way requires eitheran incredible amount of pursvasion or trust and respect which has to be earned. By looking at the comments here I'd recommand you to get to know the community a little better before throwing yourself in a presidential election. It's of course your choice, looking at your resumé i'm pretty sure you're capable of leading a country. The question is can you do it right now or will you need some time.

To adres the point of activity, and being here for a month before i should consider running, may be a concern to some. However, if people were to look at my past commitments to the community they will understand that when appointed to a task I always represented and did it to the best of my ability. I never left. If i could not commit, i did not offer myself to help.

Always good to see old veterans return! But there are a few things I have some concerns about.
1. You left eNL when you were beaten. A bad loser? Or somebody who actually only cares about his own career and when someone else gets elected just abandons his country?
2. You just march in here proclaiming you are the solution to all our problems. But maybe you have to prove yourself once more before you run a spectacular campaign.
3. Campaigning in the style of Donald Trump....

1. The senate was removed by the new government of the eNL. I did not agree with their trying to dismantle everything we had worked in the previous year to achieve. Also the polish threat was increasing. It was discussed at the time with my friends that we would be more effective, in strengthening our ties with the USA. Something that turned out to be very useful. It was in our eyes a tactful retreat as well as a form of protest against the new government that was hell bent in trying to demonize a group of dedicated players. During our time we also gained a deeper understanding on how other countries did things.Things we brought back with our return to the eNL. We had the funds, the friends and the ability to prove ourselves on our return, which we did when we kicked the polish out. In this time the eNL had gotten in to a great mess because the government also had no scapegoat. They had no plan either. The government i am referring to was of course the van Spijk government. Also we were singled out not to be part of the government. so after our congress terms ended, we moved on.

2. I have actually been examining the political situation for a few months now, i have just kept my mouth shut, as i was busy with other things at the same time. Also I am a manager in the style that i govern. I see it in the fashion that if this were a company, would i run it this way? No, I feel it can be doen in a more effective manner. Also I have been CP of this country for two serpate terms, vCP for many more as well as senior advisor positions for many governements.

3. You can;t blame someone for showmanship 🙂 Also i say that donald trump parallel mainly due to the fact that I was once one of the richest people in the eNL. Hell I made other people rich in the eNL, i shared the wealth. In RL i despise Donald Trump and his political views. But I do have respect for his ways that he is beholden to nobody and how deadset politics does more harm than good,

The Senate was abolished with support of I&W which you were a prominent of at that time, in the context of a backroom political deal with 'populists' with the likes of me and Pierre Delvaux. You personally approved eventually the abolishment of the Senate.. The 'arrogance' of I&W retelling tales of the past when they were powerful are not very fair. I&W has for a large part of its existence (bar the very first Fok / Tweakers era) never appealed to anyone besides veterans and their (RL) friends. The one things they were good at, though, is playing the political game and depending on 'sheep farm' (I&W terms) like ReL/Libertas and the parties that came before that.

Both the famed ''I&W era'' and the GPN era were not very healthy for our country. The only difference was the players and the rhetorics (I&W being more 'rational', GPN being more 'populist', and I&W leaving eNL in the cold for the USA and GPN acting more like a last stand, I&W 'selling out' our country, GPN just letting us be occupied).

Now that we are finally doing fine and are in the best position in years (perhaps due to the complete lack of party politics?) you come in barging with your past proclaiming that something is wrong, that we are not ''awesome'' and that you are going to fix that? I see it as pure opportunism, to be fair. Perhaps destructive if it amount to something.

Very much true for the most part (there are some nuances in it if you ask me) but indeed in comparison with the I&W/GPN era's a few years back. Back then everything that came from one party was by default unacceptable to the other even if it was the right thing for eNL. At the moment we are indeed much more united due to way less party politics. It still can improve but I have to say the main division we face nowadays is mainly between old I&W prominents on one side and the rest on the other. (Which also can be nuanced a bit)

2: You think you can run eNL as a company only shows you either haven't been examining anything of importance, or you are just talking out of your neck. This country as pointed out doesn't do well with a strict hierarchy we like our opinions, and at times like to make sure the gov remembers, something as found in Nr. 1 you don't seem to do well with.

The senate was meant to act as a permanent advisory body, that could establish long term plans, and help administrations fulfill those goals. And to be clear I had stepped down from the senate a few months prior, to allow other people the chance to be in the senate, the GPN group from that time were on an anti I&W campaign. They had deliberately left out I&W from all parts of politics, and were intentionally ignoring the government installed senate. They went against the ground rules that had been established and was working. At that time they ran on anti-elitist campaign/agenda portraying all I&W as villans. Through their actions I&W finally agreed to the termination of this body, seeing as it was being ignored fot over two months and all plans were railroaded.

I&W did not sell out our country. We were under polish occupation, and were being dominated. No chance of victory. We went to where the fight was, and we were done with the GPN of that time. Im sure alot has changed in these past two years, so i will refrain from putting the gpn of now under the same light as it was at that time. Besides that the past is the past.We have all matured and changed.

I am happy that the country has found good leadership and found a way to right its path. I just like to believe that we can do more. We can do with better ways of communication for example. These days IRC, is a relic of the past. We as a community might be better by moving towards a platform like TeamSpeak for communication and to have discussions. We can that way put an actual voice to people. There is always room for innovation, and maybe it is time to move forward as well. Let sleeping dogs lie as they say.

No at the time I&W was all about "fight the polish with what ever we got" well half of you guys where in the eUSA. When negotiations happened you in particular where against it, any deal that left eNL with anything was betrayal according to your words. Despite as you now well frame it "were being dominated. No chance of victory." and course "We went to where the fight was" no you didn't viewtopic.php?f=134&t=7887&hilit=eUSA when we got free for a time there in 2011 and as shown in earlier reply 2012 you didn't come back to help rebuild, you didn't come back for possible future fights, nooo same trow out, stay in eUSA for eNL benefit, a benefit you still claim was the reason, yet i never seen the eUSA gave any particular treatment to the eNL sure we got once or twice on their priority list, but that wasn't for our sake.

But your no longer a sleeping dog, you woke up and with the same attitude of the past, you proclaim alot of things half so far untrue or plain distorted and expect us to respect that... no sorry m8 i like my politicians with less attitude, and sure in hell less party biases.

This is a very bad idea. I believe Weekstrom, Fosite and others have already expressed my concerns, I can only agree to their's.
