Emergy Maxfell for Congress (Scotland)

Day 1,038, 10:21 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Emergy Institute

Hello Everyone!

Well, It's time for Congressional elections again and I'm pleased to say this month I'll be the Radical Freethinkers Alliance candidate for the region of Scotland. I'm very excited to be running in Scotland this month because it's my home region and one which holds special significance to me. Having served last month in Congress it's clear we need to elect dependable, active, and hardworking citizens to hold congressional positions and I'd like to think I've proven to be up to the task.

A little about me
Over the course of my eLife I have served in various positions, most associated with the military. I was a member of the Defence Logistics Team (basically a MoD worker), a Royal Navy Captain, a Commodore, and General Staff Officer of the Royal Armoured Corps. During my time in the Army/Navy I was awarded the Military Cross and King's Commendation for Valuable Service medals by the UK Military Honours Committee. I've also managed our military companies (16 during my time) in my role as the Army's company-manager-type-guy and now run two private sector companies which return 50% of all profits to the employees. At the time of this articles publication, my companies have returned over 2,715 GBP to the employees. That's on top of a salary which matches or exceeds the market average.

I also enjoy meeting and helping new players and am the recipient of 7 Society Builder achievements.

Congressional Report
Perhaps the most important thing which happened last month, from a legislative perspective at least, was our countries change in tax policy. Our new tax structure, proposed by jamesw, lowered overall income tax rates, increased the VAT, and encouraged foreign competition in our food industry. This was a needed change in my humble option, and I'm glad it got done. This month also saw the enactment of The Select Committee Act, The Democracy Act (now repealed), and The Congressional Penalties Act, along with several other minor amendments and appointments. Citizens who wish to participate in congressional business are strongly encouraged to make their own voices heard in Public Discussion.

Here are my proposals for last month - (Proposal 1) (Proposal 2)

I also participated in two rounds of private messaging as part of the Open Government program, donated my congressional treasure map to the Bank of England, and was generally active in voting and congressional debate.

Should you choose to reelect me, I make the following campaign promises:
- Not to seek a 3rd consecutive term
- To donate my Treasure Map to the Bank of England.
- To seek the best solutions for our country regardless of political ideology.

If you feel I've done a good job in Parliament, then I kindly ask for your vote this 25th of September.
