First of all thank you once more for making me Congressman for the Northwest. This will be my 4th term in V1 adding to my many more terms I served in Beta. I'll do my best to get my Manifesto pledges done ASAP. You can read those in the previous article.

Summary:
Turnout: 111 Voters (12😵
Notes: ICF did not compete in Dublin due to the Party President pressing Update on the confirmation day without looking at his candidates list. Most likely a bug that the Admins did not fix.
Winner: Irish Union Party win back Dublin which was lost to ISRP last election.
Cork and Kerry
Irish Union Party:

Irish Freedom Party:
5 Votes (6😵

Summary:

Notes: We see here the flaw in Congress Elections. A party can gain more votes than the others but still end up with less Congressmen.
Winner: Irish Union Party take Cork and Kerry holding it from last month.
The Northeast

Notes: Again Ireland First and Irish Citizens Front don't contest. ISRP manage to get more Congressmen than Irish Union Party despite gaining less of the popular vote.
Winner: Irish Union Party if you got by popular vote or -ISRP- if you go by total amount of Congressmen. I myself go for the former.

Summary: The Irish Union Party regain top spot in Congress getting exactly the right amount of Congressmen that the popular vote would of won them. -ISRP- and Irish Freedom Party got a little bit more than the popular vote would allow. Ireland First and Irish citizens Front got less than the popular vote would of allowed. Overall though the big winners of this election are the largest party in Ireland (IUP) and the smallest top 5 party in Ireland (IFP).
Lets hppe this Congress term is productive and your congressmen work to make Ireland a better place.

"Sad day for Ireland First..."
Yeah, disastrous! The voting system is shambolic really and surely no one can deny that. I got more votes than roughly half the automatically elected candidates and the same number as the last wildcard and didn't get elected. What an awful system! It is entirely undemocratic. If that's not bad enough, my failed campaign came off the back of one of the most successful debut Congress terms ever IMO. How was I not elected?
Agreed the Congress election system is a farce. Many of us have been saying this since Version 1 was launched.
In Beta it was much more simple and i feel much more fair. (At least from a Party perspective. Maybe not an individual candidate perspective.) Congress was decided the same day as the Country President. The Party President ordered the party list and the highest placed people in the party got a seat in Congress. How many the party got depended on your share of the vote and the amount of voters voting/population.
The downside of the system above was Party Presidents could just decide who would get seats. Though IMO that's not a bad thing if you was like me and had a Poll on the Party Forums to determine the places on the list. More votes you got the higher I placed you on the list.
I'm in de same boat there John Gormley , I got 5 votes and still didn't get in. Also some of those that now have a seat in congress .... I'm not saying they shouldn't be there, just that there is a lot of ppl such as your self that should be there.
I 2nd Vyse, the system in beta wasn't perfect, but it was better than this one.
iup all the way
Ok maybe I was going OTT when I said "one of the most successful debut Congress terms ever" but I think I was a good Congressman and probably deserved a shot at it again. I just hate when people with one vote get elected. It's not quite as bad as when people with 0 votes get elected, but it is a sorry situation when a person whose only vote was from himself pips a person who got several votes to election.
By the way, does anyone know how they order people on the same number of votes? Is it random? I was level with one of the wildcards on 5 votes.
It's based on XP.
This voting system was created for the eUSA election and it just does not work here in eIreland I was overall 4th in the popular vote and only got in as a wildcard just because I happened to be living in Dublin.
Nice summary Vyse - Well done to all of the IUP Congressmen ( women ) new and old 🙂
Great Day for IUP, A really well ran campaign from start to finish
Good article..well done to all who got in.
Good article, useful and informative. Voted 🙂
And I agree about the election system being flawed, while we all want our party to win as big a victory as possible on the day we have to spare a thought for candidates who lose out because of the system. A form of PR like we use in RL Ireland would be better.
Good article and congratulations to all.
@ Aelfred Proportianal Representation by Means of the Single Transferable Vote, arrr my mortal enemy 🙂I think a PR system like the Party List system would be nicer, sounds like they had something like that in Beta. Of course I'm a party president so my opinion is totally biased 😉 I don't like the current system though. When an electoral system benefits both the smallest party and largest party something has to be wrong...
Congratulations to everyone and very informative article.
12% turnout....thats not very high, perhapps politics should be made more entertaining...or less boring....which ever is easiest.
@McFeckit
But think of all the people who play this game once and get bored of it then never play it again. In my opinion that is probably a fair amount of people who are active
