Election Commission of India

Day 1,588, 04:01 Published in India India by ArawnLives

This is my personal suggestion, and does not come under the MoMC banner.

I think we all know what happened in this Congress election - we saw several unfamiliar citizens with potentially hostile interests garner votes at the cost of our democracy and security, through the offering of various bribes across ingame Personal Messages. I have previously campaigned against such bribes, but I suspect most citizens see it as a commonplace thing that they no longer have it within them to protest or act against. This is a sad state of affairs - and while the solution I am going to propose below is perhaps not a panacea to solve ALL our problems, I certainly suspect that it would go a long way in mitigating the problems and damage caused by such electioneering.

Polls and democracy are intensely important to eIndia - we cannot afford to lose this process or allow it to become so sullied that people are apathetic to it.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Certain players, namely SomurtkanSirin, EAGLEPAW255, Reallycitizen and cem141981 offered bribes, either directly or indirectly, to gain votes in our Congress elections. This was not just an immoral act, but one that showed no shame for their actions - and they have, presumably, now become Congressmen. We feel shame that such an act could have taken place, but our eNation is small and some of our citizens are gullible. We feel the need to unite and take some action.

THE PROPOSAL

“Government should be a place where people can come together, and no one gets left behind. No one … gets left behind. An instrument of good.”
― Aaron Sorkin

I suggest we set up an Election Commission of eIndia.

This commission shall consist of the 4 Party Presidents, and one aide each (the Vice President or any member of the Party that is so chosen by the Party itself, or picked by the Party President), and this council shall sit and vet each Congress candidature to ensure that no candidate represents any kind of PTO threat. It shall endorse only those candidates which it feels are benign and are looking out for eIndia's interests, and not their own.

To BLACKLIST a candidate, there will have to be full consensus within the Commission - I think this is in the best interests of all parties concerned.

================

I urge all the Party Presidents to take this move forward. Any assistance that might be needed, or any comments, please feel free to leave them on this article or to reach me directly.

As a bit of a caveat - I know many of you will say that this just won't work. And perhaps it won't - but I urge you to recognise that this can be an improvement - and that perfection comes from the series of steps that we take towards becoming better.

JAI HIND!
