Election campaign part 1
KIA Sneak
This is the first in a series of articles that will hopefully convince you all to vote for me come election day.
I would like to apologise now for my terrible spelling and grammar.
Part 1 history
KIA Sneak born Feb 06, 2008.
I started erepublik after seeing a friend play the game in the school library. As I was free for the rest of the day I signed up and got everyone in the library to join. All this meant that after a very hectic day we had a group of around 10 of us all looking for work.
After some exploration and a lack of job invites we decided to pool our gold and make a company. After looking at the market we found that Gifts didn’t have a Q1 company. Its profits looked good compared to the cost of production and the other industries where full.
So Amazon.com was created and I was lucky enough to be the GM of this new company. Within hours of creating this company I was messaged by Sohir a fellow Gifts GM who asked if I could use my company to send new workers to him. He had upgraded to Q2 but as there was no Q1 had no way of getting more workers.
Days passed and Amazon did quite well. Next I was PM’ed by Ip Lockard. He was aiming to take over a party and grow it from there. The party was under bad leadership and only really existed to advertise a bigger part “313”. So we all joined looking to make an impact on erep the political players in our group saw this as an opportunity.
Party elections came round and we had won the party. Next we had to think of an idea for what it was to become.
I was taking economics at the time and after a talk with some friends about political systems the idea of a communist party occurred to me. In a game such as this where the economy can be controlled the idea made sense. SO’s could run companies and with an SO as a party leader we could make a true communist party.
I had been told about the forum and so posted my idea for the party on there to gauge the older players reactions. http://forum.erepublik.co.uk/public-discussion-f51/peoples-communist-party-t251.htm?highlight=communist
After some heated debate about the subject I began talks with Ip. We discussed whether the plan was feasible and even PM’ed the admins about using an SO as party leader. The reply was no. Seeing potential in the idea we made some changes to the plan and created the PCP (peoples communist party) it would have to follow the rules of normal erep parties but we saw it as something different. A much needed left wing party (at the time there were far-right, center-right and center-left parties in the top 5 but no far-left).
With the upcoming election we had to get campaigning and so the first PCP manifesto was made http://www.erepublik.com/press_release-7302.html
This of course caused more heated discussion but we knew we were on to something. We were still new players and I was only 15days old atm but the ideas made sense.
Showing skill in economics I had gained some standing on the forum and even with political discussion going on I always tried to help the government in any way that I could. Proposing several ideas for both military and economics.
This caught Kaleb’s(UK president at the time) eye and I was give the minister of trade position on the 3 rd of march.
Now I was a congressman, GM and minister.
Over the coming months the party continued to grow and i continued to propose ideas on the forum.
The parties second manifesto was released and received a better reception. Although I think this was down to shadow being away. http://www.erepublik.com/press_release-12931.html
Next month we had an explosion in membership. With several GM’s joining our party. We decided to create our own form of corporation. This would allow us to help the other GM’s run there companies and allow us to apply our party politics to our companies.
The PI still stands and is one of the leading employers in the UK. By effectively giving our companies to the party we found we had no need to make profit from them and so where able to lower prices for the good of the nation or increase wages to help our workers.
Due to high activity and many posts about the military I was given the chance to become a reserve CO. This job would require a lot of work. Me flamur and Paddyohale were tasked with turning a list of names into a fighting force.
The UK had had great success with organising its paras and we felt we had to do better. Using Paddys military knowledge and the fact that I was only doing 8 hours a week at school (finished maths early) we came up with what I think is one of the best military structures in erep.
We ran drills weekly and brought some laughs into the forum for awhile as well as some members that had previously stayed away.
May saw the fall of what used to be TRP. Due to political difference in it’s member base many of the parties key members left for a more left wing party. This was a great opportunity for PCP and gave us another push towards the top. We became a party that could win.
Another manifesto and this one seemed to silence the critics http://www.erepublik.com/press_release-21902.html
I had moved onto bigger and better things. With the leaving of Tarquin (ex MoD great guy) the MoD (Minister of Defence) spot was open and given to me due to my work as a reserve SO.
Once again I had to show organisational skills by keeping the troops supplied and informed. We had several wars over the time that I was MoD and I would love to recount them all but its hard to find info on them.
With June came the stepping down of Ip Lockard. I had followed him since the creation of the party and it felt a great loss when he declared he would be away for the coming month and would therefore step down as PP.
I had been VP for 4 months now and knew the party well. I stood for party president and received great support from the party.
Now as PP I had to look forward at the next election. The PCP was in its prime and we decided to go all out and go for presidency.

http://www.erepublik.com/press_release-26072.html
With 100 votes I won and would be the first PCP president and I think the youngest (first day as president was my 18 th).
Over the coming month I proposed many changes and kept the country growing. Details of what I have done will be in a different article.
The august elections came quickly and once again I won. With a second month as president I continued to change the country for the better and here we are today.
So really what I’m trying to say is I’m qualified. I’m probably the most experienced candidate up for the next election and have skill in every field of erepublik.
Ive been.
A GM (of the three PI companies and Amazon)
A congressman for 6 months
A PP for 2 months
A VP of the PCP for 4 months
A president for 2 months
Minister of trade for 3 months
Minister of Defence for a month
A Reserve CO for a month
I post lots in economics and although some disagree with my methods most agree I see the problem and offer valid solutions.
Although I’ve been in fiery debate I pride myself in not loosing my cool and even though I argue I still take into account my opponents views and always use them in later proposals so I can offer solutions that suit all parties.
So lets make it 3 terms as president.

sorry mister, but this is way too long to read. i can do betterr things with my time than reading self-glorifications of some politicans.
sorry that you don\'t care about a main feature of the game. You must be in the army? Or a GM?
\"sorry mister, but this is way too long to read. i can do betterr things with my time than reading self-glorifications of some politicans.\"
You wouldn\'t of voted for me back in June then. 😛
@ John, I\'m sorry, but that\'s just pathetic. You\'re standing for party elections no? Well, you hardly prove yourself to be capable of politics if you can\'t hack reading one article. KIA doesn\'t usaully \'self-glorify\' himself as you put it, because he\'s busy running the country, but when he puts down his qualifications you had better read it or don\'t bother voting in the next election at all.
\'The parties second manifesto was released and received a better reception. Although I think this was down to shadow being away. \'
Lol that is quite funny.
Anyway, brilliant article mate. It\'s reminded me of how much you have done for this country and that you really deserve this. PCP will miss you.
It is too long to read, and it is self-glorification (I can tell that much from the small part I read). There\'s nothing \"pathetic\" about Spartacus pointing this out, and he and I will both be exercise our rights as members of a liberal democracy (ie not a Communist regime) to vote in the elections: whether we\'ve read the propaganda and spin or not!
It\'s a sad time when voters in a democracy don\'t bother reading manifestos or try to find out about the people standing for election. It\'s not propaganda and its not spin - its the truth about our president, the first PCP President of the UK and quite possibly one of the best. How would you feel if you\'ve worked hard to build up a political party, and worked hard for the good of the UK, and when you want to tell others of your achievements so you can continue to work for the Uk, your \'liberal democracts\' don\'t bother to read it because it\'s too long. If that\'s democracy, that\'s sick. I hope oneday you find yourself in the same position William, because maybe then you\'ll understand.
Even if I read it, which I won\'t, do you really think I\'m going to see anything that\'s going to make me vote for a commie dog?
I can think of many reasons whyyou should vote for KIA. Experience, economy is looking good which is a great job seeing as there has been no war yet the market is ok, best president (yes better than Kaleb and that is no slight on him) this country has had, economic genius, military genius and is well respected and known by fellow presidents which helps greatly with foreign affairs.
Basically, he\'s the best candidate out there by a mile and let#s face it I don\'t think your party president would have a clue how to run the country and neither would your party.
That\'s just your opinion. Frankly all I\'ve experienced under this vile regime has been attempts to pass that awful \"social responsibility contract\" and then the attempts to cover it up, or spin it as something other the Stalinist policy to create a planned economy that it so obviously is.
Oh, and we had rather mixed results in the only wars we\'ve fought in under his tenure as well.
The wars have been my decisions mainly mate so don\'t pin it on KIA. Oh and in Sweden we were hugely successful capturing a quarter of all territories the Swedish took. SA was void really as that ended. But it did prove that we could fight two wars at one time and influence both.
Sure we got beaten in Poland protecting it from Germany but we were fighting loads of FIST troops with hardly any support. Oh and our troops have great experience, great equipment levels and are an effective fighting force.
You see William, that\'s why we don\'t want members of congress publishing something before it\'s been passed as law - you only get a half-idea of what we want to achieve. Besides, what\'s proposed in congress is not final, it\'s a draft, and needs work. However, if you take the initial proposal and then attack it before it\'s been worked at, obviosly you\'ll find flaws which will be ironed our after debate.
It\'s funny because exactly the same thing happens with legislation in real life: and yet the committees and parliamentary debates are televised by BBC Parliament and the full transcripts published by Hansard (and theyworkforyou.com).
Uh-huh, you\'re right, that is how they do it in real life. But this isn\'t real life, and we find that it\'s a better system to publish laws once we\'ve passed them and ironed out the flaws after the debates.
commies are waay to much in love with themselves as we see here. and i do have a strong interest in politics. and thats why i want the commies out of power. vote UKRP
I\'ll let my article do the arguing for me here WoO

So, why is holding Parliamentary debates in secret better on here? Generally I would say that e-citizens are more politically active than their RL counterparts and would be more inclined to follow the debates and read the proposals.
What do you have to hide?
\'What do you have to hide?\'
Are you in love with that phrase? Oh and we aren\'t hiding anything in congress as that would allow our rivals to see it and they would report anything if it was despicable, yet they haven\'t. Oh I know because we aren\'t hiding anything. Sheesh are you paranoid or what?
They are reporting stuff, and your leader is trying to twist a law and use it against them: probably to set an example to prevent further secrets being revealed.
Everything you\'re doing at the moment makes it look more and more like you have something to hide: the ONLY way out now is to open a public gallery and publish all previous debates in an eHansard.
William they are reporting stuff against a law that they themselves approved! We\'re not twisting the law, it\'s clear as day that he broke the law and therefore must be punished. It was proposed by a member of his own party for christ\'s sake as well so you can hardly say it is our fault this time.
No law has been broken, Widow, that\'s the whole point.
