Merovingiano
Hello fellow eAustralians,
In light of recent events, I am resigning from the PP race for ADP. It is clear that my actions do not represent those of the party and it would be best if I were to withdraw. I feel I owe an apology to our current PP Guagature. In hindsight, the screenshot was used out of frustration and was an unjustified call out to Guag. Guag is a fine PP and his reasoning behind leaving the congress thread makes sense. I would prefer an alternative to just leaving the thread but my article was the wrong way to address those issues.
Ironically, Guag and I were working towards the same goal unwittingly, government transparency. Guagature left the congress thread, from what I understand, as more of a protest to PM's of our current congress and a demand for forum-based senate and use of IRC. Both forums and IRC allow for more government transparency by keeping a log of what was said forever. Archives of logs allow for people to be held to their words and a more transparent and established voting system.
I stand by my action to use the screenshot but not in the way I used it. I didn't consult Guag for his reasons and I apologize for that. It is a matter that might have been better handled in private but I felt that the party should know and I was trying to avoid a hearsay argument.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and as always may eAustralia prosper,
Merovingiano

I voted and here is my comment. But I honestly don't think you should have included what guagature said, methinks that was muddy.

Mero, keep your tanks. And please tell us when was the last time you held any office in the Australian Democratic Party? And describe your recent efforts to help our current Party President to promote and advance the party?
Whilst I fully think you have a golden future, I cannot approve of low politics or opportunism (I will define that last as "Taking advantage of a situation for personal gain, which one has not worked for or earned.") Integrity matters, mate.
Thats what politics is really, one person taking advantage of another person for a office on a higher floor.
Yer a cynic, Theo...
How is this low politics? Actions speak louder than words. Taking the votes of your party and then just wasting that voice to congress is lowly. We witnessed how well that worked for Cal. I'm just tired of stagnation.
You haven't answered my questions.
My questions? About your own actions?
Blame me all you like, because it's easier than comprehending the real problem for this mess.
Play nice you two, and as for being cynical I slightly am just because of my personality. While I try otherwise my mind sometimes likes to see things black and white.

How could people not vote for a cat with a bowtie on
Good luck in the election. But I agree with Lany, your should of left that SS out of the article. Yes as some one who is politically active, it is annoying seeing people not take the responsibility of roles, be it PP or just a congressional member, but something shouldn't be aired in public.
Also no need for tanks
But it does need to beheard by the public. For all they know Guag is championing for them in congress when in fact he quit. Things got tough and gee just abandoned the process. I'm sick of these politicians who are all talk. If you're going to quit then resign. If you're going to quit, don't run for office.
MRW I see what Guagature said; http://imgur.com/NnoGhN1
P.S. Good luck in the election bro!
First of all, thank you for the free publicity to focus the PP elections on myself as opposed to making this article about you.
I stand by my comments that over the last couple of months the senate is a joke, there is no voice to be heard when our discussions fall on deaf ears and the voting process is dragged out to the point that people are just giving up and the votes we had never were taken seriously. Case in point is the recent tax hike which was never passed by senate, a vote that never properly took place.
I took on a personal choice and never requested that other ADP senators take the same path. My choice of removing myself is no different than two other senators who chose for their own reasons had decided to leave the thread as well.
Hopefully Rusty can sort out what is needed to give senate the voice they are entitled to as this is our communities country and not others who have taken us by force or aligned themselves with those others.
Btw you can keep your bribe tanks
That's your decision but if you're quitting congress then resign. The people can't tell you quit and it isn't fair to them. Resign or don't run in the first place if you don't want to do your job.
Quitting isn't the solution to everything.
I did not and have never run for the 5 gold, so there is no reason to resign fully. If the forum base is put back up like the majority want then I would be involved in discussions that are fair and coordinated and not via a pm where nobody knows what we are actually discussing as there are always comments which take the focus away from the point at hand.
I certainly want to do my job but the inhibiting of processes that individuals are focused on to prevent a fair play policy will keep me and others from being part of senate now and in the future
"like the majority want" LOL
Glad we can have one line pr3zzy involved in this. It will make things a whole lot easier to understand.
Give people the chance to talk and make comments before they are attacked by the few who think they run things and the community can be functional again.
Forums and IRC used to be a big point for this community but hiding in the pm's month to month and loosing the previous month's discussions seems to suit better.

+1
I find that really shady, terrible tactics to include a comment made with trusted confidentiality between congressmen and the CP.
Although I do not condone showing the picture of the message, I think it is fine in this instance, it isn't like guagature has never done it himself..
I understand that typical what is said in congress should be confidential but it was the simplest way to make my point without invoking some hearsay argument. I used my discretion and thought the people should know. They'd never know from outside of congress
Well, I turn the situation to you Merovingiano, would you like it if someone posted your comment out in public from what was assumed to be a private meeting spot between congressmen and government?
@James if it was something that the public should know I'd be all for it. How else would they ever know? Obviously my answer will never satisfy everyone but I just want it known that I didn't not intend this to be the center of my article and would never have posted the screenshot if I thought it was out of context.
I (and I think a lot of other congressmen) view the message thread as confidential chat, which stands to reason that it includes all things said on topic or off topic should remain confidential between government and congress. Keeping even the off-topic confidencial makes sure that the congress and government can discuss serious, sometimes unpopular issues with each other without having to worry about the community hating them for doing what may be unpopular, but right.
I agree that's the nature of the thread that I tried to maintain. Every rule has its exception though. In this case, the information was easier to convey and reduced speculation by just providing a ss.
James if the community wants to see what has been transpiring in these threads with the abuse that has been thrown around I am sure there can be SS's brought out to the public via an article.
The big problem is that you, Merovingiano, have set up a dangerous precedent by breaking this unspoken rule. What's to stop another congressman screenshotting the whole chat and releasing it, then claiming hes just doing what you basically did?
