eIreland forwards
Nephworks
I am writing this article to tell you how happy I am with how things have been going in eIreland lately. There have been some hiccups but it's nothing we can't handle. In my opinion things are looking up for eIreland and here is why:
The Irish Army:
We finally have a military force that is organized and is getting stronger everyday. I have never changed my avatar once in the 400+ days I have played this game but as you can see now I am proudly displaying the IA uniform. This might not seem like a big deal to many but it is to me. My avatar of Val Kilmer playing the character of Doc Holiday was a part of my citizen and how I was recognised. now I am recognised as being part of the Irish Army and it does look sweet on the battlefield when you see the green white and orange repeatedly hitting for ourselves and for our allies. EDIT: Now I get the best of both worlds! \o/ Cheers Connell.
Our supply structure has gone from handing out batches of 150 IEP to supply yourself into a force to be reckoned with. We can now supply food and weapons of varying quality to our soldiers as any self respecting military nation should be able to do.
I realise it may not be apparent to citizens who are not as actively involved in the IA or even in eIreland but from where I am standing things are looking much better. This is a game based heavily on warfare and we are getting better at it.
The Government:
We did not have a smooth start to this term but as long as the IA keeps on track as it is then I will consider this term a success. The current administration has done well with just a few hiccups along the way. Nothing we can't handle though.
The deals for the South east and Shannon are secured and look promising. It is a pity the natural enemy rule with Canada could not safely get us the free war but I believe this rental agreement will benefit eIreland and eCanada in the long run. We are closer to our allies in the Americas and have a new source of gold for the treasury. I have listened impartially to both sides of the arguments put forward by those who are against the rental and those who are for it and I find myself sided completely with those who support the rental. This is unusual for me because I rarely find myself so comfortably leaning one sided in a debate such as this. This rental agreement seems to benefit us and our allies.
The People:
I am proud of the progress we have made but I still see the sniping comments and aggressiveness which used to divide our country in months gone by...... and to be honest I wouldn't have it any other way. Often these comments and articles only cause divide and offer no constructive benefit. If there is one sentence from this article you remember it is this: You need a tough skin and a mature mind if you want to help eIreland. Don't let the frustrating sniping comments get to you because they will keep coming. Likewise, respond maturely and it will stand to you in the long run. Even if it means taking a deep breath before replying.
It is important to keep an eye on those in power and question their motives and actions. Like many other nations, we have been the victims of so many robberies that it is difficult, sometimes, not to assume the worst of peoples motives and actions. I have suffered these crimes as much as many of you but they are in the past now. I have put my faith in the current administration and the Irish Army to continue this progressiveness. I will work for eIreland as best I can. o7
Thanks for reading,

For a lol:
Comments
I'm glad it's working out well for you.
I find it a pity that this administration can't deal with legitimate questions without resorting to the usual antics. Whilst that continues, its hard for those outside the IA structure to have any faith, hope, or respect.
Why not get more involved then Grainne? I have only ever seen you make comments.
I think I speak for the entire Irish Army when I say that your hard work and support is valued.
Things have been going fantastically so far, as Neph said and I also look forward to seeing things progress.
Would getting more involved act like a charm-school for the foul-mouthed, impatient, arrogant and rude? Otherwise, I'm not sure what that suggestion means, Neph.
I mean take part in discussions on the forums or on IRC. Even write an article every once in a while expressing your ideas and thoughts on current affairs.
;_; somebody said something nice about the Government ;_;
Thanks Neph, we all appreciate that!
Neph,
everytime people bring forward new ideas they are shouted down, and often there is not even the decency to reply to the ideas brought forward, but people instead chose to directly attack someones character as a way to discredit their ideas.
Its pretty impossible to get "involved" in that kind of atmosphere.
"You need a tough skin and a mature mind if you want to help eIreland."
x2
A great synapses of eIreland. imo in eIreland there are two types of people, doers and complainers.
We certainly have the doers in the IA right now and it would be a travesty if this progress were to be lost.

Examples Stark?
@Starka😛 Moos new Self sufficient soldier idea in the public Dail and Conor Larkins banking idea are two new ideas which were discussed very well in the Public Dail. They are both good ideas imo and their only major weakness is eRepublik itself.
Moos idea looks like it will be taken up by private citizens if the Dail decides against it. I myself have had my ideas rejected regarding reforms to the military and tbh I'm glad they were rejected looking at things now.
I understand completely it can be frustrating and comments can feel more like sniping attacks rather than constructive criticism but that's why I wanted to highlight the sentence Connell pointed out ^.
"Why not get more involved then Grainne? I have only ever seen you make comments."
Comments that are snide and will provoke an attack.

Neph
Excellent article.
Glad Neph is around, a great asset to Ireland.
Celtic Tiger
When i was proposing an improvement of the supply structure of the IA, I was being shouted down based on the fact that I was "greedy", "never been part of the community", etc. etc.
And the way Gonzo was shouted down should be familar to you too since you took part in it.
@Neph
I am glad to hear there are at least some discussions going on. However I did find that there is little room for out-of-the-box ideas that do not comply with the IA-mainstream way of thinking.
Starkad you didnt say a change in supply, you said we would do more damage if we did it your way. I commented saying do you even know how much damage as an army we do. You talk as if anything you do is better than all the work loads of us put in.
Make an article, put up a topic for discussion in the dail. Do something bar commenting here cause you aren't offering any idea's by just commenting on things. New idea's are always welcome and if you have any come on irc and let us know, im always will to talk to people there.
You never really proposed anything tbh, you should of given your point more thought & then opened a thread or written an article.
As for Gonzo, well, he doesn't understand the restraints this country has due to her low population count & seems to blame others for faults outside their ability to fix. I have no doubt that his article was solely aimed at creating a reaction, he could of PM'd me afterall or even viewed the private Dail before hand (which proves my point fully.)
I'm not going to fanny around & debate arguements with people who have done next to little for this country, have somebody who has aided the nation to some degree state an observation they may have and I'll respect that & discuss it in a formal manner! Everybody else can stfu 😃
Starkad, From somebody who agrees with the broad structure of the IA I do think that it is pointless making a big suggestion or proposal to change the IA structure or its way of operation as I do see it being shot down and not implemented even if it is a good idea however as I haven't made one such suggestion or proposal (and I don't plan to) I couldn't be sure on this.
@Stark + Kavrocks,
The people who are working within the IA are the people who are trying their best and working very hard to improve the country. Any suggestion as well as it is well thought out and productive will of course be considered.
No one gives a crap whether it is their idea implemented or not, it's about progression and that's it.
Everyone just wants progression
"You talk as if anything you do is better than all the work loads of us put in"
And that seems part of the problem. While I do appreciate the work you guys put into the project, we seem to have come to a point that you do not accept any sort of outside input because you consider it "your" work. When I suggested to organize things different becaue we are gonna do more damage, only Seanan actually came forward and showed interest in how exactly I would do about improving things. Everyone else was just too busy badmouting me because I dared question the sanctity of the IA and telling me that I am greedy and wrong without even knowing what exactly my point was.
Also I do think that the comment area of articles is a perfectly suitable medium to also exchange ideas....it doesnt NEED to be IRC, does it?
For those of ye who thought I "didnt really propose anything", maybe you simply need to read again. My suggestions were very simple, so you guys might have simply missed the point i was making.
No it's your arguement, if you're invested enough into the idea then fully explain it here & I'll read it but I'm not going to chase it for you.
"Also I do think that the comment area of articles is a perfectly suitable medium to also exchange ideas....it doesnt NEED to be IRC, does it?"
How??
The article isnt seen by anyone after 2 days unless they go searching when most dont. Post on the two places I have asked or shut up, you know quite well that for anything to be done, it should be posted in a proper place where all can see it.
I kind of want another wipe to happen, it seems to be the only time eIreland actually has a sense of unity.
^ Too soon.
@Ginge: I know. I don't really wish for a wipe, but I am disgusted at how many arguments we get into. I will say this, Grainne is asking questions and they typically don't come back with much nor do they give it easily. I think we need to have respectful debates and do not take things so personally.
Your last sentence pretty much sums up the message I was trying to get across Mike.
@Starka😛 I agree with CT. The comments are not a great place to put forward an idea. I for one didn't see your idea because I don't always read the comments or subscribe to them. I think the forums would be a better place for discussion when it comes to improving the IA supply.
Good artical Neph, we need more positive people.
Not a democracy.
Get that orange out of the flag, gud laaaaaaaaaaaaaaad 🙂
Disarm, fallout
Yea there’s something that knowing and knowing something’s what it’s all about
So come on, stand out
‘Cause running and running is turning something into knowing, lookout
Starkad = Greedy Capitalist
and Grainne, Getting involved would include
1, Not sitting on your arse talking sh!t
2, Actually doing something constructive
3, Engaging in MEANINGFUL debates not comments on an article no-one listens to
4, Possibly joining the Irish Army Forum (i know you don't like IRC)
5, Joining an IA Company
6, Experiencing the Irish Army operations first hand
The list goes on, p much the opposite of everything you are doing now i.e Nothing
Neph & Celtic Tiger,
just look at oj's comment right there and you understand everything i was talking about.
Thick skin or not....i dont blame people for NOT posting anything in the forum, if they already have to put up with shit in the comments. Most of us dont take this game serious enough to expose themselves to bullshit in their sparetime just for the sake of it.
I lold at starkad thinking I was being srs..
Ye but OJ has little to do with you explaining your idea...
I like the GI Joe, Star Trek, Transformers, Ghostbusters vs the undead picture. I just saw that in my comics magazine. lol
CelticTiger,
you are missing my point. My point is not that i am desperately trying to model the IA after my wishes...trust me, no matter how the IA ends up looking like, it will not rob a second of my sleep. This is a game. My point was that people that voice new and unconventional ideas (in whatever form..be it from newspaper comments to postings to articles ..) get shouted down and personally attacked by certain individuals...and this neither helps Ireland, nor irish unity.
^ aye. even is starkad is a capitalist, I still have to respect his views and take his arguments seriously. Bane out.
Anyone for Jam and Toast?
Starkad, the point is, you do not expand on any of your theories, you mention them in passing without giving any detail, and use that as a basis to bluntly tell people who are working hard that they are in fact doing it wrong. Come up with a detailed plan and post it.
If you don't want to cos this is just a game, why do you spend so much time arguing over it without actually clearly outlining and proving your points with 100% cold hard facts?
wow.
I'm beginning to realise that Grainne is a troll ;_;
all this time wasted.
You seem to have misread my reaction CT.
I was considering......
I agree with OJ.
I'm standing as I type this.....see?
I've implemented point 1 already.
🙂
I'm here for epic crossover picture.
Basically....
1. Co0o0ol pplz hang out on irc talking sh1t
2. Co0o0ol pplz start talking similarly ingame
3. 0o0other Ppl run from eIreland coz they don't get the co0o0o0ol pplz humour (rea😛 insults)
Of course this is miscommunication that the more experienced citizens are expected to restrain themselves from for the common good. But hey... they're doing so much awesome sh1t why shoudn't they tell you you're a pr1ck for saying something they disagree with? As Ginge likes to say... "insults are fun" 😉
"Its pretty impossible to get "involved" in that kind of atmosphere."
We felt that for more than a year.
Though, you were not responsible for that, nor do I think you would condone it, no matter how anti-communist you may be.
However, I must point out that every action has a reaction. In this case, the action was to completely shut out any left wing or militarist ideas in favour of passive government, to the point of arrogance.
We cannot allow that to return to our country, hence our criticisms of the politics of our opponents.
"A troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion."
Well played madam! Had I realised I was being trolled sooner I would of simply ignored you. Lesson learned 😛
Irishboy,
Maybe you are expecting too much of me. My approach is really incredibly simple and probably wouldnt even fill an own article.
In fact it can be narrowed down into one sentence: Buy low, sell high - meaning: buy the army's equipment whereever it is cheap in the world, and let our soldiers work and earn money whereever wages are highest and they can still fight for Eire.
Brian,
"capitalism" or "communism" has no place in eR....they are RL theories. The one thing (next to morals) that matters in here are game mechanics. And the game mechanics dont favour communes.
