eIreland and eUK, What Does The Future Hold?
K to the izza Mo Fo
Hello all.
I am writing this article in capacity as the United Kingdoms ambassador to Ireland, there has been a colourful and chequered past between our two nations both in real life and in game but all I see is wasted potential.
On paper we share a similar history, culture and language we make perfect allies. But then you have to add in the battles, invasions and counter invasions and the real life bad blood and it quickly devolves into mistrust and rivalry. But in recent times we have started moving closer towards the aims of Ireland and their allies. We have gained stronger ties with Aurora nations most recently Germark who helped us by invading France to draw damage away from us.
Just now there is a barrier between our two nations and that barrier must be torn down with post haste. In the last few weeks we have had multiple invasions and although we have saw them all off, every little helps and the Irish can pack a punch.
One of the ideas I hope to get in motion is having an international games things like a general knowledge quiz with teams of 5 people from a few countries and a few other events that have as yet to be decided.
I would like to ask everyone who reads this to leave a comment on what their feelings are for building stronger ties with Ireland and if they have any suggestions on how to do this.
Regards,
KieranB.
Ambassador to eBelgium and eIreland.

Good article mate o7
To all British readers, hello I am the eIrish MoFa for this term and I am glad to work with this dude here. Our interests are really common right now and I am looking forward what we can do. Please leave a comment!
Please stop betraying us and invading twice a year?
First let's say what is a betrayal. We haven't been allies to betray you 😛 And at the moment we have some more interesting stuff to do than invading you ...
UK and Ireland have been allies or had treaties several times. All broken by Ireland.
Goku, that has to be one of the funniest things I've read in a long time. Were you able to write it with a straight face?
Goku, they are trying to make progress towards a friendship. If the eUK wants to move ahead with eIreland, the two governments will have to disregard ugly, rude comments from pessimistic people like you.
We have been through this like 5 times Ash. Each time people like yourself make peace and each time they invade us.
we should wipe them...
I remember when we DID wipe them... or did they wipe us? Or was it both?
good times
Maybe I should make a pilgrimage to King Woldy 😛
We'd love to have a long holiday in London, and Scotland, and NI, and Yorkshire, and Wales, etc.
What about the rest of the eUK? You can't just pick and choose
as long as London is burning, I'm good with it 😃
That's what the etc. was for
"On paper we share a similar history, culture and language",
no, no, no. Nor similar history ( no romans, no anglo, no huts, no normans, less vikings, no navy),
nor similar culture ( celtic vs british), nor language ( irish + english vs english), BUT, you share similar .... WEATHER....
Im Scottish descendant from Irish like most people I know 🙂
Well Normans did get to Ireland, but apparently when there they tended to go native
Wait, so English being the most spoken language by some margin with a sprinkling of Gaelic isn't similar to English? I'd say 90%+ matching probably counts as similar.
Wrong Alpha has a Viking invasion in northwest England just from Ireland! ))
Honestly mate.
We get a bit twitchy over here whenever Brits start talking about "tearing down the barrier between our two nations"
😁
I stole that line from your MoFA in a chat we had on irc lol
The reason we're seemingly getting along is owing to the old "My enemy's enemy is my friend" notion. It's in both nations' interests not to have a scrap atm but rest assured they'll stab us in the back just as quickly as we'd do the same to them...and I wouldn't want it any other way.
I honestly never stab my friends, it's all up to you if you want to become friends 🙂
yeah, forget stabbing, I'm still looking for those codes for the enukes...
I feel that if we eUK and eIreland were to make stronger connections and become strong allies that we could all benefit. Instead of us fighting each other wasting time, currency and weapons on something that doesn't even last we can support each other to protect both our borders and even spread out and support both our interests and global allies. The way this can happen is by getting stupid ideas of making eUK hoal again or ideas of wiping each other out of our heads we gain more from being allies. Something we need to build on is trust. Having open trading and Mutual Protection pacts and stuff like quizzes and forum chats between both of our citizens is a step forward and a step I the right direction.
All hail eUK
All hail eIreland

Well said Mr Marley, New Era would love great friendship with our brothers and sister in Ireland. They have a great setup and good people.
Screw Ireland
To be fair, the feeling's mutual 🙂
The main benefit to having such a close ally would be that we could hold a larger colony base due to not having to check our back every couple of minutes. I think an alliance with anyone you have some kind of cultural tie to is a good thing, but there are a lot of reasons that Ireland and the British can't be friends and even though we can hide these with petty "why are we fighting?" sayings it wouldn't mask the fact that the patriotism of both countries would dissolve any attempt to create a long lasting alliance.
If we were any bloody good we'd have colonized Ireland ages ago.
I have genuinely never met a single English person whose 'patriotism' causes them to dislike the Irish.
Likewise when I've been to Dublin everyone there has been nothing but friendly to us as a group of Englishmen/women.
Irish are friendly, I can take that.
We agree on something!
How can we be able to trust them as allies?
Trust and good relations are forged in the heat of battle - fighting a common enemy together, not against ourselves. Making a point to help each other out before making serious moves to make it official will bring the hearts and minds of the majority onto the same page.
Just as in real life, there are actually a very small number of people with any legitimate claim to earned feelings of angst against the other side. We do what we do for the majority, why should we use words like patriotism incorrectly to refer to the small number of people who would worsen the lot of us all?
It is NOT patriotic to take a course of action through action or inaction that leads to your country not being the most productive and progressive it can be.
Patriotism in completing your DO, then looking for your Irish/British friends and seeing if you have the ability to do more fights for them. It's not an overnight change, but when we work together those individual acts bring us together.
I don't consider it necessarily patriotic to despise and abuse the eUK. I do it because I enjoy it, and I feel your enation has earned every bit of it.
It is always good to have a friend again! Question is whether most Irish agree @ I am personally for closer relations with Ireland! There is hardly one of their current or former ally who is dissatisfied with the relations with them! Irish true courage, and deserve respect! really are few but they are very active and can be a valuable ally!
I'm always interested in closer ties with Ireland. Our history has been marred by silliness and RL issues that had no place in the game. We've been on opposite sides of the alliance fence a lot of the time, but it would be great to forge ahead on some common interests.
