eFreedom - Are You A Free Citizen? [USA]

Day 637, 15:00 Published in USA India by maverick10

You have to admit the word has a nice ring to it.

I know but one freedom and that is the freedom of the mind. ~Antoine de Saint-Exupery

It implies the right to think for one-self, to speak for one-self, to act in a way we see fit, lack of restrictions, self-determination, sovereignty, choice, free will.

The quest for freedom has been the very driving force of revolutions- of nations, communities, individuals. It propels the struggle for independence of many a people subjugated by foreign domination; it drives all struggles against prejudice, and discrimination.

Freedom is an identity. Are we a free people, even as our lands get run over, and our homes looted? Are we 'free' enough to not give in or give up?

Freedom’s key proponent is the ability to ‘decide’ for oneself and one’s people, & this ‘ability’ translates into ‘RESPONSIBILITY’.

eFreedom is the running theme of the New World. Citizens are ‘free to decide’ the course of their nations, even the world. Our actions and behavior reflect who we are & the people we represent. It gives us the ‘freedom’ & the ‘responsibility’ to build our nations and communities!

Whatever our intentions, however, to exercise one’s freedom, one needs knowledge, & wisdom, to take decisions, to communicate, to seek, learn, grow at every point, & aid others in doing the same. There responsibility goes one step forward; it isn’t then an enforced duty; it is our privilege, our opportunity to preserve our dignity, earn respect, trust, and it becomes the foundation stone of Democracy.

Freedom Equals Dignity! Freedom Equals Respect!

Freedom cannot be bought and sold, because Dignity / Respect cannot be bought and sold; it cannot be taken away by marauding armies, or corrupt politicians. Dignity isn’t dependent on others, hence freedom isn’t either.

No man is free who is not a master of himself. ~Epictetus

Yes, freedom requires sacrifice; sacrifice with dignity and sacrifice of our self-centered motivations for the sake of those we serve, our country, our people. It is not a blood sacrifice; we need to sacrifice our ego, our greed, anger, ignorance.

Today eUSA is facing a tough time. eIndia knows too well, how precious one's freedom is. Today eIndia is free. Our identity isn’t the 10 regions we have, or the 7 we don’t. It is the RESPECT we earn. Our freedom is in the DETERMINATION we have burning in our hearts to make India completely Independent, it is in the dignity with which we act & interact with those the world over, in the RESPONSIBILITY we each take, as a citizen of eIndia, to take our nation forward.

eUSA is by far more 'progressed' than our small country, but at this point as the nation faces its great challenge of surviving, of holding on, of regaining lost glory, ask yourself this, are you 'free'; free to decide your own course of action; free to take responsibility, and not end up bickering and in-fighting; free to lift your head up with dignity, and unite as a nation and as a people? Are you 'free' & of open-mind to say, we will not do unto others, what they have don't to us?

The basic test of freedom is perhaps less in what we are free to do than in what we are free not to do. ~Eric Hoffer

So, my dear friends, in eUSA & the eWorld, ask yourself this before you hit the bed tonight:

Are you a Free Citizen?
