eFootball

Day 1,684, 08:14 Published in Ireland Ireland by Anthony Colby

Hello everyone. I recently read that eIreland is boring during the summer. Well I hope to alleviate some of that boredom. Today I am introducing the eIreland eFootball League. Now you may ask “How are we going to play football on the computer?” Good question. The gameplay will have as much to do with real football as clicking a button has to do with fighting a war but that has not stopped you from playing so far has it?

I have been thinking about this for a while now. It was an idea first generated back when I was Minister of Community and it has been rolling around in my brain since then. It was only recently when the final part clicked into place and I figured the idea was good enough to introduce.

How this will work is that a team will have five players. You as the owner/manager/captain will choose these players and when they get to play. Only one player will get to play per game. There will be one game per day for the season. There will be ten games per season with the top four teams making the playoffs.

Now who will be the players you ask? Your players will be companies that you find on the worlds stock markets. Yes you hear me. Stock companies. The rise and fall of a companys’ stock will determine the outcome of the games. I will use the daily increase or decrease in a stocks percentage to determine game outcome. If your stock goes up and your opponents goes down you win. If both go up the one that goes up the most wins. If both go down the one that goes down the least wins. Simple really. I am using the percentage since if the total amount of money the stock went up was used some stocks naturally would crush others. I feel percentage would even the playing field so to speak. Any registered stock on any market around the world can be used.

The Teams

Now since this is the first season of the league, and I don’t know how much interest I will get, I am limiting the league to ten teams. The first ten to fill out the forms and submit the entry fee will be chosen.

Now don’t go and PM me right now to be the first to get in. You have to get some info for me first. I will have a form for you to fill out ( there will be a link at the bottom of the page ) with some stuff I need from you. I need a team name ( you either make one up or use a real one), region of Ireland the team is located in (all original regions plus Northern Ireland and any we occupy ), team colors, and last the stocks you want on your team. I want you to pick eight stocks and order them in importance for your team. The top five will be chosen but if no one else can use the same stock so first come first serve. If someone else before you has chosen one of your choices then I will take the next stock in your list. Once I have ten teams I will PM all the owners and then you can submit the entry fee of 300 IEP. Since first prize will be 1000 IEP that is not too bad. Once the first game is played the money is no longer refundable.

The Season

The season will consist of ten games played once per day for ten days. Every team will play every other team once. There will be two divisions of five teams and the top two teams from each division will make the playoffs. There will be a one game playoff between the two top teams in each division and the final two teams will play to see who is champion. So all together the season will last at least twelve days when markets are open. So in reality holidays and weekends will make the season last a bit longer.

The Prizes

As I said before the champion will receive 1000 IEP. The four teams that make the playoffs will will get back their entry fee of 300 IEP so that is not too bad for you. That leaves me with a little bit of proffitt since I am the one doing all the work and this is not a charity.

Details

As I said the game play will be how well a stock performs for a single day. Only one player plays per day. So why do you need five players? You can make substitutions if you like.
You as team owner can choose to treat this like a lottery and let one company play all your games and you just sit back and let whatever happens happen. That is your choice. But you can also make substitutions. If for some reason a stock has not been performing you can change it for another one of your players. PM me and I will make the change. Now since I can’t let you watch the market and make a change at the last minute all changes will go into effect the next day. I can’t be online to make changes multiple times per day. Sorry.

What if all your stocks take a dive or you just don’t pick good companys? You can trade players with other teams if you like. How you decide to make that change is up to you. I would assume a good player would bring a high price. The two making the trade will have to settle on their own terms. Once a trade is made you have to PM me with the roster update. All roster updates cost 20 IEP. Just as in real life the quality of your team depends on how much money you have. Now you can also change out a player for any of the other players on the stock markets that are not on any other team. While you won’t have to pay someone for their player you still have to pay the 20 IEP for the roster change.

So you can either sit back and do nothing at all or you can take part and actively try to improve your odds of winning. It is up to you. I want this to be as simple as possible but give you some input to show off your skills as a manager.

Disputes

Now I hope there will not be any issues or disputed calls during the season but if there are then I will let the Ministry of Community solve the dispute. I know James is retiring after this term but I hope the next Ministers will continue in this capacity.

So to sum up everything.

1. Create your team.
2. Fill out the form.
3. I will PM once the teams are created.
4. Pay the entry fee of 300 IEP. ( All fees are paid in IEP )
5. Play the season. ( Either sit back or take part with substitutions.)

Not too difficult I hope.

Now that is not all there is. Every day I will post the results of the games played that day and the standings. I expect plenty of articles written supporting your favorite team or at the least trolling the team of your rival. I want to see stats showing odds of winning and winning percentages. I want to see eFootball hooligans.

Also as far as I know gambling is legal in eIreland. I assume some enterprising person could make some money on the side.

(Disclaimer: As an American I probably used sports terms that you are unfamiliar with. Sorry for the confusion.)

Now let’s play.
