Editor’s Notes: Due to the untimely demise of my beloved husband, General Custer, at the hands of a fear stricken mob, I shall resume his duties as your Secretary of Media, until such time as he recovers sufficiently. Not to worry, dear friends, "the Old Man," as you call him, is not greatly deterred by such minor inconveniences as death, and should return to this office presently.

Editorial: Media is Community
by Libby Bacon

Being unexpectedly called upon to fill in as Secretary of Media has given me the opportunity to more closely examine American citizens' participation, or lack thereof, in media.

As of publication time, we have a grand total of seven articles in live circulation in the US media. On recent days there have been as few as four.

We given to understand that eRepublik is, for the most part, a game of community. Political Parties, Military Units, the Congressional boards and various general topic threads of the eUSAforums, and IRC, are all places we gather to be in the company of others. We share ideas, we share music, we share our lives. We become casual friends, sometimes closer, with people we would otherwise not meet in our daily grind of work and school, etc.

What I don't understand is this: We are not on Skype, talking and seeing each other for real. In every one of these venues, we are typing. We type to each other, we type at each other, we all seem to have so very much to say. And we do it through our keyboards, sending messages in teeny tiny digital code across the cosmos, from our minds through our fingertips and on out to our friends.

Yet we are not writing articles. Every couple weeks, someone publishes an article complaining that are not enough articles. That's crazy!

The Department of Citizen Affairs is trying to stimulate, not only interest in the eUSAForums, but activity in general, through the forum thread game, Werewolves!  Vice President Resoula is expected to soon announce a writing contest of some sort. At least one political Party has a Writers' Guild. The government publishes media at a frantic rate. All this, the efforts of a few hard workers, is being done for the benefit of the many. That's you, "the many."

It's your turn. Express an opinion. Tell a story. Share a cartoon, or a chick pic, or a even recipe.
Just, for goodness sake, publish something! The media thriving or being dead is your own doing, or lack thereof.

Segment 3 of today's edition is a fine example of a player who found something to say, and so he sat down to his keyboard and blasted it out. Sadly, we had to look overseas to find it.

War Maps & Analysis
with National Security Council Chairman Orikfrikal

In Spain, we have Argentina attacking Galicia, with the USA continuing to stand by if needed.
In Ireland, regions are being sorted out and swapped in ongoing Training Wars.
Portugal now fully occupies Cuba, with Cuba struggling to retake Western Cuba.
Latvia is back on the map, currently attempting, with US support, to push Lithuania out of Zemgale.

Thank you, NSC Chair Orikfrikal, for helping to understand and present today's War maps.

A View of America
Spotlighting Good Foreign Media

Excerpts from [DC] The Big Neighbour, by Don Croata, in the Irish media.

America, hated by many people in this game and still always survive on the ‘stronger’ side is the topic of this article. I’ll try to give my opinion of the eUSA based on what I noticed in the few recent years.

American Benefits
USA has been gifted by Plato with 50 regions. It’s been a topic to argue about for ages. Plato probably went by the logic of American 50 states in real life. Well not probably, but certainly. But there are many other countries with more states/regions in real life than they have in the game. The 50 regions country, by far biggest in eWorld has used their starting advantage maximally. It’s almost impossible for them to get wiped, with the recent changes they were able to have more than one full bonus regions, they are always able to elect greatest possible amount of congressmen and there were lots of other advantages they had and which they can thank to having 50 regions country.

Yes, they can!
The thing I always envied them for is organisation of basically everything they do. To have things organized you’ll need some quality people and they had a lot of them. They always had them, since the start of this game. It takes quality to organise in the way they’ve organised themselves. I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of some of their Military Units, such as Special Forces or Blacksheeps. Trust me, you’ll never find such a good organisation as they have.

Isolation
eUSA has been isolated from all the historic battle centers in the world. Just like in RL that always served them very well. But even the bigger isolation is done by their people, political parties and other stuff. Citizens of other countries like to meet other citizens from other countries. I’m not saying Americans don’t, but they are a lot more focused on the citizens in their own country.

America & Alliances
As I already mentioned, America isn’t seen as “Best ally ever” or something similar, but on the other hand, how many alliances have they changed? Not too much. Some common opinion is that America always finds themselves on the stronger side. This part is truth, at least lately.
