EDEN Increases Involvement in Great Britain, Day 819

Day 819, 19:21 Published in USA USA by Lieutenant Scheisskopf

Trying out a new banner since many papers have these now-- it's from the RL Department
of Defense military newspaper for those who mistakenly give me artistic credit 😛

Before getting started, I just wanted to thank everyone for my fourth Media Mogul medal. Only 34 entities have 4MM's, 19 of which are citizens. It's definitely an honor, and I will continue to write as long as it remains fun and hope you all continue to read.

After recent events in China allowed eSerbia to gain an iron region, and the first Battle of London turned out to be a non-contest, EDEN has renewed its approach in Europe and appeared on Day 819 poised to start a series of maneuvers intended to get more of its members involved in the fight.

The European theater on Day 819, with resistance wars circled,
and ePoland's attacks on eCzech Republic included in Eastern Europe

USA Swaps For Norway to Approach London
While the Battle of London was underway on Days 817-818, eUK Prime Minister Dishmcds wisely retreated from the East of England and West Midlands, continuing the strategy of entrenchment by limiting the options available to the eUSA. London finished with a very high wall, and because it became Phoenix’s remaining region by way of the region swaps, the eUS would need to open new battles on the eUK fortress-- an expensive proposition-- or lose initiative and risk the eUK opening an offensive with 17 mutual protection pacts (MPPs) activated against the eUSA.

The decision reached by EDEN’s leaders was to back resistance wars (RW) on regions adjacent to London so that other EDEN members, primarily eNorway and eSpain, could attack the eUK and target the fortress region itself. Because the eUS and eNorway hold a joint MPP, EDEN leadership likely decided on the RW strategy instead of a region swapping campaign in order to maintain the eUS-eNorway alliance and not further divide EDEN powers between region swapping wars. As a result, the eUS has been backing the resistance in the East of England and East Midlands campaigns, so that eNorway could move south and possibly border London. In response, Phoenix has been defending eUS control of the regions and may keep East of England from changing flags and returning to the eUK, although East Midlands has more time on the battle and looks more likely to fall to the ‘resistance.’

eSpain looks for better luck in their invasion of Great
Britain than they were afforded in the sixteenth century

Spain Looks to Enter Great Britain
A second EDEN maneuver has involved eSpain, who has bordered Great Britain for much of the past month across the English Channel, in eFrance. Apart from ePolish involvement, the battle statistics from London suggested a dearth of EDEN support, which seems to have been addressed by the recent eSpanish region swapping campaign with the eUSA for the South East of England. Although this is notable for bringing the eSpanish adjacent to London, if it is combined with eNorway eventually taking East of England, it will also be notable that the eUSA will no longer hold a border with the eUK. This is part of the significance for not starting an eNorway-eUS war, as doing so would cut the eUS from being able to fight in London and would likely aggravate more than a few eUS citizens; not to mention, the move would also cut the eUS’ military capacity from an anticipated battle where their help would clearly be needed.

Phoenix Starts Resistance Wars, Counterattacks
In response to EDEN’s moves in Great Britain, Phoenix elites launched several RWs of their own against EDEN countries in the eUK. All three of eNorway’s non-natural regions fell under fire, including Yorkshire and Humberside and North East of England in the eUK, along with the eDanish region of Midtjylland. All three campaigns have shown moderate success for Phoenix thus far, as none are secured by eNorway and a successful RW in any of the eUK regions could delay and complicate eNorway’s expected approach on London. If the Midtjylland RW was successful, the eUK could conceivably approach eNorway and do the country damage with its slew of activated MPPs.

Accompanying the eUS-backed RW, the eUK attacked East of England later in Day 819. Combined with the eUS RW on the region, the eUK should expect East of England to return under its possession; if eNorway delays in moving on the region itself, it is possible that Phoenix may look to expand its current posture in Great Britain and fortify East of England, making it a more formidable region and a tough battle in its own right before EDEN could attack London.

ePolish soldiers crossed into a new country today, entering the eCzech Republic

Poland Declares War on, Invades Czech Republic
In Eastern Europe, ePoland attacked two of the eCzech Republic’s three regions on Day 819, targeting Southern Bohemia and Northern Bohemia. It seemed to have come as a surprise to some eCzech leaders, although the eCzechs recently signed an MPP with eSpain, with whom ePoland has an active war and has done extensive region swapping. The result of this MPP and a recent region swap with eSpain meant that ePoland got a free war with the eCzechs. By looking at the map, if ePoland gains those two regions attacked, then eCroatia would be able to swap with ePoland around Germany and all the way into France, possibly seeking high wood at Rhone Alps or another prize.

Sweden Swaps with Poland into Germany
Also notable in Day 819 was the eSwedish region swapping into Germany which allowed eSweden to take Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg, along with Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania from ePoland. The move allows another EDEN ally to set boots into the main European theater of war, while the occupation of Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg gives eSweden a high grain region. Any additional motivations for eSweden or EDEN were not immediately apparent.

Recap
The war’s recent developments have favored Phoenix, so these maneuvers are likely EDEN’s attempts to counter Phoenix’s victories by bringing more allies to the front lines in Great Britain. eSpain may border London by this time tomorrow and could stage an attack on the eUK capital, although eNorway’s efforts to move against the eUK could be complicated by a Phoenix counterattack and several RWs opened on its occupied territories. It could also be possible that eCroatia looks to get involved; even if they did not, their presence in France and Germany would allow ePoland and eSpain some breathing room in suppressing RWs there and instead focus on other objectives. Whether or not the maneuvers succeed for EDEN, or a new, unforeseen challenge arises in the coming days, will remain to be seen.

God Bless America,

Lt. Scheisskopf
