eCanadian Political Landscape Explodes

Day 701, 12:59 Published in Canada Canada by Wilhelm Gunter

Late last week, just prior to the Party Presidential elections, we saw two new parties come on the scene, both electing long term eRepublik citizens Yonsil and Uraczak as their party Presidents. Since then, two new parties have joined the scene, the United Communists of Canada and the Canadian Advancement Party. The former is led by political newcomer and eRupblik novice, Jullius. Perhaps, though, it is the latter party which has the chance of making the biggist impact upon the existing political landscape. It is led by reknowned patriot and former eCanadian Prime Minister Bruck. Just exactly how this will affect the political scene, at this early date, is not quite clear.

However, on Parliament Hill in Ottawa for Bruck’s public launch of the new party, this newspaper was there to steal away some of his time and and was able to direct some rather pointed questions at this eCanadian icon. We sat together on a chilly autumn morning, on the patio of a coffee shop.

“For the sake of our young eCanadians, share a bit about your role in the creation of Bruck’s Canucks (a private citizens’ militia).”
Bruck: “Ah, that might be quite a story but I will give a short version of my perspective. Following the fall of Ontario Canada ceased to exist and I knew Canadian fighters needed to leave to continue the fight. I contacted a few friends of mine and gathered them together, before long there were twenty of us and I made a forum. Named so after myself simply because these were just friends of mine and Canadians to the last. From there things spread through word of mouth...err keys and the Canucks grew rapidly to over 60 members, most of which were new citizens finding themselves falling below the strength requirements of the CAF. Having just lost to jacobi in the Presidential elections the formation of this group appeared to the government as a "politically motivated faction," something to which it's members took offence. Luckily, that was all settled and the Canucks now fights alongside the CAF on several missions, all weapons supplied by the production of it's own members. “ [Ed. Note: Prior to this, Bruck had served 3 terms as eCanadian Prime Minister, from March to May of 2009]

DMH: We already have 5 major parties and two new comers to the political scene. Why create another?

Bruck: “I still feel that they are all still too similar. Many have similar platforms offering a lot of the same and I felt the need to create something different. I have always tried to be a proponent of change in eCanada and this gives me the opportunity to bring some new ideas to the forefront of Canadian politics.”

DMH: What are some unique features/policies in the CAP that a citizen cannot find in other parties?

Bruck: “Well I think the most obvious one would be the unique and personal mentorship program I am developing within the CAP and plan to push for strongly. Adding a link to the new citizens message that leads new citizens directly to experienced players, new and old, who want to take them under their wing and help them get involved really is going to set us apart. I have spoken with several new citizens, some out of erep who quit, and they all say that a program like this would have kept them involved or would have brought them in far earlier.”

DMH: What is your primary aspiration with the CAP?

Bruck: “Well for the immediate time being it is simply to grow and convince new citizens that we are the best option for them. Our mission statement will include the advancement of new eCanadian citizens before all else. Further on down the road, I hope to see the CAP building these new citizens up and creating future leaders out of them. I have no intention of running for President but I hope one day a CAP member will have that honour.”
DMH: What do you wish to convey to eCanada with the name "Canadian Advancement Party"? Why this name?

Bruck: ``If it's not a well known fact it should be, my greatest flaw is naming groups or organizations. Take Bruck's Canucks for instance, very straight forward, it's Bruck, and it's his Canucks. The same instance applies here, it's a Canadian party and what we aim for is advancing eCanada through development and helping our new citizens, through new ideas, and through a party founded on the hard work of everyone. Every active member of the CAP will gain experience and work towards our common advancement.”

DMH: With the ingame electoral module allowing only the top 5 parties to field candidates for parliament, you immediately take yourself, as an experienced citizen of eCanada out of the running to be a member of government. Was this wise, considering the urgency of expelling the Huns? Or perhaps you see this as an opportunity to better serve eCanada with increased focus on Bruck's Canucks?

Bruck: “I am an experienced player but having myself as a member of Congress won't mean the Hungarian invaders will be expelled from eCanada, as much as I would like that both on a patriotic level as well as a personal one (I like to think I have that power). I have been a member of Congress before, and I will be one again. But until then I will devote myself to the CAP and next term I will return. As a side note, I actually do not directly command Bruck's Canucks anymore and I have not for some weeks now. Domino_Gray has been in command for some time however he has resigned recently and the Canucks are now under the command of Domino's then Chief Financial Officer, Addy Lawrence. I have great faith in his ability to lead such a group.”

DMH: Which party, orparties do you perceive CAP having close relationships, either due to friendships with current members, or because of ideological similarities?

Bruck: “So far I have been contacted with friendly well wishes and proposed relations by the DAL and the CNC. I do look forward to working with the DAL and the CNC in the future as well as any other party that wishes me well in my endeavours. This is my fresh start and I aim to use it.”

DMH: Since you are not able to field candidates in this election, do you plan to throw your support behind another party?

Bruck: “ The CNC has graciously offered us a space to run one or two candidates should we be able to field them. We greatly appreciate this gesture and hope to see a CAP presence in Congress this term. As for the Country Presidential elections, I find it very likely that the CAP will be backing one of the candidates from outside the party and we will decide as a party in the days leading up to the election. No candidate will be ignored and all options are open.” [Ed. Note: Bruck also requested this newspaper to publish the site of the ]

So, eCanadian citizens, your political options have increased dramatically in the past number of days, from five parties to nine. How will you respond? When the dust settles, how will you have re-drawn the political landscape?
