eCan Thefts, Another Viewpoint

So it seems we are in the midst of another presidential election. By another I mean my first. I am familiar with the standard campaign messages tossed around about how candidate A is no good for the economy and no good for Canada an how Candidate B is a no good two timing sell out who only wants to line his own pockets.
You know what I would really like to see? A genuine effort by candidates and their supporters to deal with the real issues. Do I care how old someone is? Where they live or how long they have been playing the game? Unless we are talking PTO then not really. I want the best candidate to win. I want to see a leader who will make our nation something better than it was when he came in.
At this time I am having trouble seeing the forest through the trees. I have seen a raging popularity contest and loads of slanderous propaganda about who did what to whom and why, but no real issues have been dealt with. Now to be fair I am exempting the publishing of Platforms and debates but what I am getting at is the supporters in my eyes are doing their candidates more harm than good. I am going to take a minute to share with you my own conclusions regarding the accusations made toward Alexander Reardon. Why do I do this? Because I feel that it is wrong to not share the whole story with you.
Within the past week there seems to have been allot of scandal surrounding Alexander Rearden. Thekommie loan and this whole purchase of an Iron company in Spain have taken the forefront to all other news. Now we are all very, very well aware of the fact that there are those who disapprove of what Alexander Rearden has done here. I have taken the time to ask around and find out a bit more about what is going on.
Thekommie came to our minister of finance and asked to take out a loan to help his company get to Quality 5. The amount was 200 gold and in return the government would make a 50% profit (300 Gold total would be paid back) and secure the country a domestic, quality 5 housing company. More jobs, more economical growth and more money for Canada. Sound like a great deal for eCanada to me. It sounds like the MoF is not only doing his job, but doing it well.
To be perfectly clear here, Thekommie sold his company. Alexander Rearden’s DID NOT do anything wrong here.
Today Alexander Rearden secured for Canada a Quality 2 iron company based in Spain. Again we have heard how this is wrong and Alexander Rearden has pilfered 80 Gold from the tax payers for his own goals. Let’s take a look from a different perspective. This Iron company gives us a government regulated, safe and steady supply of iron to regulate the iron market (which is all imported) and also allows the government to stockpile iron for use during war time or even to defend Canada.
So why is it that all we hear about is how Alexander Rearden has stolen from eCanada? How he is a tyrant and holds the ecountry in the palm of his hand? If you ask me, from the examples I have seen, Alexander Rearden has done an exemplary job in the time I have been a part of this game and eCanada. He has shown me that he is looking toward the future and displayed great foresight to strengthen eCanada. Perhaps this is not how you would have done it but you can’t fault him for doing the job.
The donation of the Ministry of Finance budget is run through congress every month is it not? Congress gave Alexander Rearden the money to do his job with and Therefore, Alexander Rearden, as Minister of Finance can use that money as he sees fit. I don't see how after the fact we can call that a theft.
I ask all of you who are reading to take a few minutes to question what you are being told and search between the lines. Don’t take everything you read at face value and decide for yourself what is right and what is wrong. Much of what I have read about Alexander Rearden has been half truths and slander/propaganda put out by those who oppose him.

There is no such thing as bad press.
Unless your name is Marv Albert...
Nice Article Voted
I like this guy.
I am only just now hearing about this Rearden business. But everything I have read thus far seems to state that Alex Rearden, in his office of Minister of Finance, approved the 200G loan to thekommie. If this is incorrect then please forgive me and ignore what I'm about to write/rant, because I've obviously misunderstood things. But if I'm right then...
If I give a person a gun because they say they're going to shoot zombies, and then they shoot my Grandma's lawn ornaments, it is not ONLY the other person's fault; I am also to blame. I realise that Rearden could not have known that thekommie was going to take eCanada's money and then skewer it to the bottom of the toilet, but as MoF is it not his duty to be able to tell a good investment versus a bad one?
If you say you can build me a nuclear bomb, but then you build a generator to power your flux capacitor and give me a pinball pipe bomb, sure you lied, but maybe I shouldn't have trusted a wild haired old man rambling on about scientist dogs and screaming "Great Scott!" all the time. I'm sorry we live in an eWorld where if you do your job poorly everyone calls you on it, but we do. The simple truth for me is that AR rolled the dice with eCanada's money and he rolled snake eyes.
It is indeed the Minister of Finance's fault when his best economic strategy for the growth of the eCanadian economy is essentially placing all our collective chips on the table and shouting "Put it all on black!"
@Enkidu As far as I understand there is an existing contract between thekommie and the governemnt about this loan. So AR did take measures to protect taxpayers money and congress approved on this deal.
@keldire good article. First 6 paragraphs are great, I fully subscribe to what you are saying here. But then you lost the balance a bit. After the start I was expecting a neutral but critical analysis. anyway voted and subscribed
Where do I get a 200G loan? I would like to do the same. But I suppose AR & kommie are old friends. Its the old boys club.
'Oops - I accidentally sold my Q5 housing company.' This is either an example of AR not performing his proper due diligence and securing collareral - or blatent theivery. How much was the kickback?
There was no discussion of how to fix the situation of preventing it from ever happening again - because with the current regime, similar 'disappearances' have happened apparently, quite a few times, and it will happen again and again.
Vote Jacobi for an open government, accountability, inclusion for our new Citizens, and for competent ministers in government.
I agree with this article. I am extremely new to this game, but I am trying to learn it as best I can. As far as I can tell Alex did his best to ensure collateral and make the contract as binding as possible, and he is now working to make sure eCanada either gets our money back or we get control of the company. To me it SEEMS he is doing his job, but I could be wrong. Yes it was a gamble, and to me it seems like a VERY expensive gamble, but one that should be lucrative to eCanada if it gets straightened out.
Alexander Rearden was in the position of authority, he is responsible, thekommie also has a responsibility but Rearden was elected and responsible for the safe keeping of our money. I prefer people who accept responsibility for errors and accept the consequences if any. Its election day lets see if there are any consequences.
Very well written. My opinion on this issue though is mixed. I have great respect for Alex and think he made some great decisions, but also some poor ones. He did make smart investments, but its important to make sure that everyone knows about them (publicly) and hears from him, instead of getting all this slander out first. However, he has recognized partial responsibility for the 200 gold and has written an apology article in response. He deserves tremendous respect for this, I believe hes made good decisions, and learned from the bad ones, and this is why hes a great candidate.
A doctor saves 1000 lives over his career, then one day does not follow protocal and kills a man. He is charge as he did not follow the proper protocal. He could still save 1000 more lives but yet he is stripped of his right to practice and the chance to save those lives. Why you ask? Because we all must take resposibility for our actions and the punishments that come from them. In this case AR is expecting NO ramifications for his actions? seem fair. NO, just cause he has done good prior this is one of many mistakes that have cost eCanada funds that could be joying to more sercure loans that are offer with the proper contract and approved by the proper powers.
Wow this is a bloody game! and AR had no control over Kommies folly - so please take your doctor BS somewhere else!
Well I do not blame AR for his decisions only for how he goes about them and his lack on congressional support
Thanks for all the comments everyone. I am glad to have started a bit of a conversation here.
Cypher, I have to disagree with you here. A doctor performs his surgery himself and therefore any wrong doing is directly related to the actions he takes. A bank gives out loans to people and if they default on those loans, the bank collects assets to recoup its losses. The bank is not blamed for the inability of people to pay back their loan.
Jake, Investments is about risk management. There is an inherent risk to all investments. Alexander Rearden has accepted responsiblity for the loan.
Citizen B, This was not intended as a forum for campaigning. Please do not campaign here. I have mentioned nothing of the election and I would appreciate it if you would respect that.
If you can find any kind of evidence to substantiate what you say please present it. You are doing the exact thing I am talking about. As for a discussion, there has been many discussions. Problem is that as a government are we not expected to grow the economy and invest in our citizens to help the country prosper?
The rl government gives millions of people student loans. If someone doesn't pay back their loan should the head of revenue canada step down? Recently the government bailed out GM. If GM does not keep its end of the bargain, the government will take part ownership of GM.
Please, if you are going to use rl comparisons, compare apples to apples. AR did not get a gun nor a nuke. he isn't a doctor and he didn't go all in with the loan. No amount of risk assessment can guarantee a loan. The human or technological element is too unpredictable.
The thing about opinions is we all have one and I always enjoy discussion and viewing those many opinions and ideas. Although articles leading up to or on election day that even mention a current candidate or party or action taken by either will spark some partisan comments, much like the article itself.

A more appropriate analogy is the real life government giving GM enough money to build a Death Star and then saying "screw off" and giving ownership of GM to Honda.
lol ok lets take a look at your argument. I had to do a bit of research here to make sure I was doing my due diligence.
I have to do some math here to get some kind of baseline comparison between rl and erep currency here to see how this comparison works out.
total currency in circulation:
$391.6 billion rl Cad approx
$423000 eCad approx
now the loan amount was 200 gold and that is equal to 6000 eCad at $30/per gold.
$6000 is approx 1.41% of the eCan currency in circulation.
1.41% of the rl Cad in circulation is approximately 5.5 billion.
If we can build a death star for 5.5bil then I say let get to it! We may have to tone it down though because we don't want to blow up the whole planet, just the parts with our enemies on it. We should get our MoFA in contact with the empire in order to have their engineers look over our initial Death Star plans for workability.
Yup apples to apples
FYI the GM bailout currently sits at about 25 Billion dollars so around 5 times more than what thekommie got.
Keldire if an employee of said bank gives out a loan without approval and the loan defaults and the bank finds out tell me who is the one that will get the boot....
From the Constitution:
Minister of Finance-- Charged with the administration of all governmental monetary assets, and Finance assets including but not limited to the National Bank of Canada S.O. and the Ministry of Finance S.O. as well as the creation of formal budgets with the approval of, or upon the order of, the President.
Congress approved his budget and the money was given to the MoF to do his job with. Cypher, The MoF is not an employee of the bank but rather he is the head of all banks.
I have done a lot of reading on this subject and have yet to find anything to state that AR did anything wrong. If something needs to be changed or amended in the constitution then please do so.
Things don't always go according to plan but can anyone honestly say with absolute certainty that AR didn't have eCanada's best interests in mind?
@Cypher
You hit the nail on the head.
