Earth Hour

Day 498, 11:20 Published in Japan Denmark by Oraizan
Information:
Just to give you a little information if you dont know what earth hour is:
For an hour many cities and countries around the world participate in turning off their lights for one hour. This is to reduce the ammount of electricity used and help our planet. Only Non-essential lights and electrical things are turned off.

What I saw:
I stepped outside into the dark-the only light around me was the street lights above me. The buildings were completely dark, save for the random exit sign shinning through. The moon and stars a little more visible then before 8:30pm.

I walked through the town with only a candle in hand and lighter in my pocket. The city was beautiful in the dark, but eerie like a ghost town.

As i continued to walk, I ran into more and more people. Each with a candle in hand just like me. It was beautiful how much the candles lit up the city. It was a peaceful light, something the lights made by electricity could not mimick.

Each person said Hello when passing by me. I was surprised to hear them, considering my town is so big that everybody ignoring one another is the norm.

A few houses were lit up. I found out that people were actually going around to these houses, and asking them to turn out the lights. A few even handed out candles!

The roads were empty, and the sidewalks full of people by 9PM. A few companies were outside selling themselves and their products.

I came across some people playing music from their MP3. Many of the people walking by would stop and dance, but I continued on towards the park.

What a sight at the park! Many people had placed candles around the small pond, and even a few floating candles were placed on it. The mayor was even present, handing out candles and greeting every citizen of the city.
The candles gave the pond an ominous glow, a beautiful feeling.
Who knew helping the climate could be this beautiful?

Moral
The moral of the story would have to be that like the candles and people comeing together, eJapan must do the same. No matter who is elected, we all love Japan and want it to succeed. We must come together like this amazing event, and all of us put 110% into solving all of the current issues we are facing. Young or old, experiences or inexperienced, we can all make a difference.
In fact all the people and cities coming together like this event, showed more then just the government that things need to be done! Without each person helping out, it would not be possible.

Yes, I am tieing my article into eJapan, because I find it relevent!

Here are some of the end facts:
Earth Hour was a huge global success with 3,937 cities and towns turning out their lights, across 88 countries. With almost a billion people mobilized, Earth Hour 2009 was the biggest environmental demonstration in history! Millions of Canadians took part all across the nation, in more than 288 cities and municipalities along with thousands of businesses, helping to make our skylines go dark.

Here is the reductions from my current province:
Ontario, 920 MW (6😵
Toronto, 455 MW (15😵
Mississauga, (10😵
Ottawa, (6😵

Well I hope you all enjoyed my article. I tried to make it feel more like a story, but I had to put some interesting facts in aswell!
Feel free to comment about what you think about my moral of the story, or if you took part post your own experiences!

Lots of love to all of eJapan
