Dubliners, Vote Stanwick for Progress!

Day 638, 20:42 Published in Ireland USA by Chris Stanwick

Tonight, I announce my candidacy for the Dáil in Dublin. I am running under the banner of the IUP. Although I've not been a citizen of Ireland for long, I've watched the political and social situations develop and change over the last few months as a private citizen and ambassador. I am fully aware of the problems facing Ireland and of the divisiveness of the political system. Oh well, nothing is so challenging that some Guinness and elbow grease cannot lead to some solutions.

The political infighting is normal in any democratic nation. It is nothing that should be denied from government as it sparks ideas and creativity amidst the insults and mudslinging. Having a completely unified government leads to the stagnation of ideas and individuality. Look at the Hungarians and the Indonesians. They are automatons under the guidance of the ruling elite. How much fun is that?

War is a necessity for the growth of any nation. Sadly, the neutral nations of eRepublik have watched their populations decline while nations driven by war have experienced numerous baby booms that give them an advantage over others. War also drives the economic module of eRepublik and any nation not actively participating gets left behind economically as well. The war games with PEACE is an excellent way to bring war to Ireland with all the benefits and none of the disadvantages.

The retention of citizens both new and old is vital to the survival of any nation. Encouraging their activity in-game and in the external community is the first step toward retaining them, but they have to have an incentive to stay active. Expanding the forum to add fun activities and programs to Ireland will go a long way toward retaining citizens.

Soon, there will be an exodus of refugees from recently conquered nation looking for a new home, whether it be temporary or permanent. I encourage the people of Ireland to welcome these travelers who have lost their homelands and invite them to stay as long as they wish. At least one in every ten will remain in Ireland and actively contribute to the society and culture of the Emerald Isle.

Now, to reveal my pet project, which I have worked on and developed for several months in the US...the Office of Economic Development. I would like to establish this office within the Irish government to work toward the study of the global economy, including the local economies of every nation, to aid in future trade negotiations between nations. This Office can help Ireland in two ways. The first being in our own trade negotiations by having updated, accurate information about each nation's economy. The second is in the international information market. The information gathered and cataloged can be traded or sold to other nations as well to assist in their own trade negotiations. Economics is an aspect of diplomacy often overlooked by the world's foreign ministries, but is just as important as the political and militaristic aspects of foreign affairs.

Please, vote for me in the upcoming elections. I will contribute to my new homeland in every way I possibly can and bring a new outlook to the Dáil. Thank you for your support.
