Drama!
Director9
Hello dear readers, yet another article from your silent soldier.
Drama you say? Recent events, the half-truths in articles, and the latest development in eRepublik makes me say : yes drama!
First things first. The money owed to money has finally been returned. Not in gold, but in currency, was easier and quicker, but it put the risk of a volatile monetary market on my side. So 281G was returned as 56k CC. I have been buying gold for that for a few days. But eRepublik decided to change the rules once again, price of gold went up, and buying has stopped for me. Hopefully I'll be able to start buying once again soon if prices drop to 200cc or below.
That's my personal little drama, but thank you eBe for fullfilling your debt.
Now, it's no big secret, eBe has had it's fair share of drama these last months. People accusing each other left and right, shouting at each other for various reasons. I would like to give my personal view on these matters, using the latest bit of drama.
There was a international competition just recently, top 10 countries received a lot of gold. That gold was distributed amongst the MU's that put in their share of the necessary hits( not damage ). Of course, this would give rise to claims of stealing of country funding. From a certain point of view, this has some truth in it. But then again, without those heavy hitters, that gold would never have been there. For those crying about the gold, that's gone, you can not get that gold out of the country account without converting it to currency.
I am aligned strongly with one side in eBe, that also is no secret. But what I do have, and many others lack, is a "business mode" . When tournaments pop up, you need to look at the rewards, the targets and what is required to reach those targets. ALL eBe'ers should sit as quickly as possible to set a strategy, inform their followers, decide about the amount of the reward to be divided as spoils for investing in reach those targets. This has nothing to do with politics at all, just common sense and try to get as much out of this game as possible. Afterwards, then there would be no need to call each other thieves and such. Of course this requires common sense, a bit of insight, and the ability to pull that finger out of one's backside for a change so you can relax a bit.
One thought has been lingering in my mind for a few weeks now. How can we have a satisfactory sense of safety within this community where there so much animosity? Back into my business-mode, it's usually about money. Well the above strategy pertaining to big rewards takes away a bit of that. Then we have the normal weeks. A suggestion might be to let in the account at the end of a CP term the average amount of money earned a month on taxincome, this would be like in RL a budget for the next CP to work with. At the end of his/her term, you can easily see how he or she did the job. If there's nothing left, too much spending. Can there still be money taken, of course, but it'll never be a large amount. CP with more money in the account then the budget at the end of their term can take that and pays a small fee to eBe, like 10% of the profit on budget. Next CP will then have a slightly higher budget to spend if there's need for it. But the base budget should always be available to the next CP. Citizens have a more objective view on which CP actually did something and can vote accordingly. A theft will not have a major impact. CP's taking their profit with them, do with that what they want, or give it back to their candidate in the next term, or to their party.
Hope the above explanation makes some sense or is comprehensible.

nice news. Money is the problem everywhere 🙂
Thanks for your article
I Agree partially whit some content...
But i don't find it suitable that it should be tolerated if a cp whitdraws the reserves of his monthly budget for personal or party usage...
But v for the effort..
It's not suitable, but :
a) it would decrease the fear of a large scale theft
b) if every CP starts on the same budget you can at least have some sort of objective measurement of their performance
c) it's a rough idea, it should polished in terms of budgetting and stuff
d) as every day is a different in terms of taxincome all concerned citizens would be encouraged to keep track of daily income
e) doing d) would also give players a means of asking where the money is going, if you call upon one's responsibility without having hard figures...
f) the tournaments would be of no influence anymore on the treasury
g) as numbers need more details, you could also have party-banks.
It's not the most ideal situation, but maybe worth a shot, taking away a large incentive for any hostile/wrong/bad take-over Everyone has the monthly budget to spend on eBe, that's it. CP's taking the reserve should be made possible, it's only a small amount, they can however make a promise to put it into the Bankmanager accounts, keep an own account. Then whenever the country is in dire need of funding for a war, they can step forward. Pretty sure, most citizens will react fiercely upon those CP who indeed spent that bit of cash for personal use. They'll never be CP again, unless backed by their party of course.
The way things are going now don't contribute to any good atmosphere in the country does it?
The stick has two ends; so has the truth.
It is not the truth that's the issue, it's what end of the stick you're holding and what you're doing with the other end.
You've been biased Director9:
"...I am aligned strongly with one side in eBe, that also is no secret."
That is the real issue.
Translated into plain words; for your stick has only one side.
I have never hidden that fact. So me admitting to be on one side of the struggle makes everything I say void and of no importance?
I have admitted that the current situation is not a healthy one. I have openly said it was my view that the treasury is an important fearfactor in eBe. I have tried to pull that out of the political context and place it in a pure business context.
If you refer to the 5k gold that has largely been divided amongst the particpating MUs as an act of theft, then I have to remind you that only Junior did a significant effort to put in as much as he could. I also mentioned that such stuff should be seen from the business side : people invest RL cash, saved up gold to do that kind of damage/hits, and all I see is a lot of little kiddies crying they want a part of that. It's easier to just take and demand then actually contribute and do some effort. The effort could have been : don't hit at all that week, it'll increase the average and maybe give the richer players a little bit of slack and so they can spend less.
My article tries to convince people ; if Plato comes up with some scheme, analyze it, and try to profit from it as much as we can, even if you consider yourelves mortal enemies of each other.
Without going into further discussion with you or anyone else; I only wanted to show how people here stick always and only to one side of the story and they don't give fair chance to the other side.
I also pulled out your sentence out of the context about you were writing and therefore misused purpose of your text.
Voted, endorsed, old sub
No drama, it's more of eBelgian heartbreaking melodrama
I don't like the fact that, as it seems to me, you would gave up on all other values if the money is an issue. 😃
Anyway, an honest article, has my vote. 🙂
I never claimed I would all of a sudden have a blind faith in everyone, but it could be a workable scenario, to give everyone a chance to prove themselves. Without the need to call each other thieves, a threat, elite.....
Working together to empty Plato's bankaccount as much as possible is one of my values 😉
